Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 268: Chapter 212: Thoughts

It might be due to the Spiritual Spring, or perhaps Fu’an Village is a bit more prosperous. The children in the village are generally more lively and intelligent compared to those in other villages.

The Jiang family, in particular, excels in this regard. Everyone at home has an amazing memory. When they read, they may not remember everything after just one glance, but after several readings, they can retain almost everything.

Wei Ziang read a book for a while, practiced writing for a bit, and then went out to find someone.

Seeing Xiao Hua sitting next to Xiao Xue and Xiao Hu, resting her chin in her hands and swaying from side to side as if bored, he went over.

”Xiao Hua, aren’t you going out to play today?”

Usually, unless it’s raining, Xiao Hua would definitely not stay at home all the time.

Jiang Yu has been diligently reading and practicing calligraphy these past two years, and Xiao Hua generally wouldn’t go out to play with Liu Ze alone.

So usually, it’s accompanied by Xiao Hei and Xiao Mi, and sometimes Wei Ziang or Jiang Wei goes out to play, as both of them have less academic pressure and more time to play.

When Xiao Hua saw Wei Ziang, her eyes lit up. ”Big brother, are you done with your work?”

Wei Ziang nodded. ”Yes, the lessons taught in the morning were previously taught several times by Big Brother and Ze Brother, so I learned quickly. What’s up? Do you want to go out?”

Xiao Hua nodded repeatedly. ”Yes, yes, Big Brother is checking Xiao Wei’s homework, dad and mom went out to work, Ze Brother needs to rest. I don’t want to go out alone.”

After all, Liu Ze is still not well, and needs to rest for a few days.

”I’ll accompany you then. By the way, how are the little birds we picked up before? I haven’t paid attention to them for the past two days. Let’s go check on them.”

Just after saying that, Xiao Hua excitedly pulled Wei Ziang outside. The little peacocks were raised next to the cowshed in the backyard, surrounded by a bamboo fence.

”What big fledglings they are, still fluffy. Once they grow up, they’ll definitely be larger than ordinary birds.”

The little peacocks no longer fear strangers, as if they know who their caretaker is, they even voluntarily squatted down in front of them.

Wei Ziang reached out and gently petted them, fluffy and soft, feeling just like chicks and ducklings just hatched.

But upon closer feel, one could also detect some feathers underneath beginning to harden. Once the down is replaced, new feathers will grow out.

”They’ll surely grow big, the bird eggs were even slightly larger than goose eggs,” Xiao Hua said while mimicking Wei Ziang’s actions and petting them.

”By the way, big brother, let’s go dig for worms. These little birds are growing like chickens, so they probably eat like chickens too.”

After the two of them discussed it, they went home to grab some things and headed straight for the vegetable plot. The spot where the greens had been harvested was just vacated, making it convenient for them to dig for worms.

Compared to Liu Ze’s initial reluctance to come near, Wei Ziang was much more impressive. The first time he caught worms, he remained unfazed, without a change in expression.

The two of them dug and searched, leaving no ants untouched, and fed everything to the little peacocks.

Indeed, seeing the vegetable leaves and grains turn into meat in the food trough, they got so excited, flapping their yet-to-develop wings, and rushed over.

All seven little peacocks were growing well, which was inseparably connected to Xiao Hua’s meticulous care: Spiritual Spring water, worms, and occasionally five grains and vegetables produced from space.

In just a few days, the few little peacocks visibly grew larger by several sizes.

In the evening, Xiao Hua went back, and the adults returned home too. Xiao Hua went to the kitchen with her sister to prepare dinner, and Wei Ziang went to help as well.

Today, they prepared a lot of vegetables and sorted out various eggs accumulated over the past few days. Besides delivering some to the Tongfu Restaurant, the rest needed to be sent to another place, and then to the county.

”There are too many pumpkins and winter melons; they could fill several carts. We should take a moment to send a cart to Tongfu Restaurant in the next couple of days and send the rest all to the county,” someone said.

Winter melons and pumpkins are very easy to grow and store, as are radishes and cabbages, which can last a month or two in a cellar without any problems.

”Let’s make winter melon soup tonight. The weather has been dry these days, so a bit of winter melon soup will help reduce the heat.”

Liu Bo patted a huge winter melon, over three feet tall, even larger than a wash basin, covered in white fur, each weighing dozens of pounds.

”Alright, let’s make a winter melon soup, and a braised dish as well. Brother Hu, can you cut me a piece? I’m going to cook. The kids are too small, they can’t handle all these tasks.”

With so many family members, providing food and drink is demanding. A few small kids can’t prepare a table full of dishes.

Jiang Hu directly took up a machete and chopped down, cutting a section. With such a large winter melon, the family could eat it for several days.

The same goes for the pumpkins. There are round pumpkins as big as millstones, as well as ones as long as arms. Whether it’s making pumpkin soup or mixing it into rice, it’s all delicious.

Although it’s just an ordinary vegetable at the Jiang’s, once sent to the town or the county, it becomes highly sought-after.

But apart from the Jiang family’s produce, the vegetables from Fu’an Village, in terms of appearance and taste, are generally better than those from other places.
