Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 281: Chapter 216: Wei Ziang Has Caught Their Eye

After returning home, naturally, there was an inquisition from her parents, but fortunately, although Xiaomi ran far, she indeed came back unharmed and in one piece, so both of them were relieved.

They just reminded her that she shouldn’t do this in the future, running off for a whole day, making everyone at home so worried.

Xiaomi had already thought about what to do in the future, and at this moment, she nodded repeatedly, earnestly agreeing.

After dinner, the family was cooling off in the courtyard. The moonlight was beautiful tonight, so much so that they didn’t even need to light the oil lamps.

Jiang Hu and his wife listened to Wei Ziang and Jiang Wei recite their lessons, as their sons were all in school, the parents had learned a few things by now as well.

Not to say they had read hundreds of volumes, but at least they could break down sentences and recognize some characters, and even with the lessons that the children often recited before them, they could roughly remember some of it.

Under Xiaomi’s strong demand, Xiao Hua was not allowed to read or do embroidery at night.

Whether it’s reading or embroidering, both are delicate tasks that require the eyes, especially embroidering. Even if you only embroider during the day, doing it for too long is not good for the eyes.

In addition, Liu Ze once inquired when he returned home, and found out that although some skilled but older embroiderers were somewhat afflicted with eye issues.

So regarding Xiao Hua’s embroidery, everyone intentionally controlled the time, so she wouldn’t keep staring at the needle and thread.

Just like now, even though the household has oil lamps and candles, Xiao Hua isn’t allowed to read or embroider, instead, she sat next to her parents, gently rubbing around her eyes.

That was the eye massage taught to her by Xiaomi. Of course, Xiaomi wasn’t foolish enough to directly say it was an eye exercise, she just mentioned that she felt doing so made her eyes feel great, and asked her sister to learn it as well.

Considering the invisible trust everyone had in Xiaomi, Xiao Hua would do this eye exercise every evening and massage around her eyes whenever she was tired of embroidering.

The sky turned dark, marking the activity time for the cat, and it seemed like it was full of energy, running around the house.

It went from bedroom to study, grain store, firewood room, and even climbed onto the rafters and roof; the cat was having a grand old time. ℴℴ𝘮

The black and white cat, after running far with its little owner during the day, was presumably tired and apart from eating, it had been sleeping all along.

As for Xiaomi, what was she up to?

You saw Xiaomi first listen to their recitations for a while, felt bored, and got up to walk around the back. When she returned, there was an extra small flower trowel and a twig in her hand.

The twig was very slender, only as long as her palm, even thinner than chopsticks, but there were already some tender buds, almost ready to sprout leaves.

As it wasn’t bright enough at night and what Xiao Hu was holding was tiny, others didn’t notice what she had taken, they only knew she took a turn and started tinkering in the flower bed.

”Xiaomi, what are you doing?” her stepmother asked.

”I broke off a twig on the hill during the day, I want to see if I can make it grow,” Xiaomi replied.

Her stepmother chuckled, ”How can a twig grow? It’s a seedling or seed that’s needed.”

”But the gardenia was grown from a cutting,” Xiaomi retorted without raising her head, finding an excuse for herself.

Meanwhile, the small trowel in her hand had already turned over a small patch of soil in the flower bed, where she planted that twig.

She even sprinkled some Spiritual Spring water.

However, since Xiaomi had her back to everyone, no one noticed her actions, and her stepmother just smiled and explained.

”Gardenias are different, only very few plants can be grown from cuttings.”

Xiaomi, having finished, merely responded with an ’oh’ and stood up, while that little twig had already been planted in the flower bed.

It was a small grapevine twig, but Xiaomi had already cultivated roots for it in her own space, and now with some Spiritual Spring water and with the nearby plants providing shade, she thought it shouldn’t be too hard to make it grow.

But Xiaomi didn’t explain any of this. After her stepmother’s explanation, she came back from the flower bed by herself.

The Jiang family had now bought a few farm laborers, originally intending for them to live at the old house which simply needed tidying up.

However, it was later deemed troublesome, especially since so many chickens, ducks, and geese needed a place to be housed, so the laborers lived in the outer courtyard of the Jiang house instead.

Near the gate, there was a separate house which was fairly large, shared by several people, and they cooked their own meals, but the Jiang family supplied the grain and vegetables.
