Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 265: Chapter 213: Peacock Spreading Its Tail

After all, it’s a matter concerning Jiang Yu, so the parents should know.

The three adults went to the study, while Jiang Yu, after eating and drinking enough, burped and then called his younger siblings to the courtyard, because he was going to distribute gifts.

The little ones were all very happy, even Xiao Mi was no exception. She hadn’t been to the county town yet and wanted to see what good things were there.

Jiang Yu did buy something for everyone in the family, but the money he saved was limited, so he didn’t buy much.

He bought Xiao Xue a very large sewing box made of woven bamboo strips, with beautiful patterns on it.

Opening it up, there was ample space inside, and the lid was set with a small copper mirror.

The box was divided into several small compartments, with some colorful threads, a pair of small scissors, a thimble, and embroidery needles, among other things, inside. There were also empty compartments for placing embroidery threads.

”Xiao Xue, there’s a mirror in your sewing box, so I didn’t buy you another one. Here are two copper mirrors for Xiao Mi and mother.”

Jiang Yu had a box where all his gifts were placed, including two identical, palm-sized small mirrors.

Jiang Yu gave one to Xiao Mi, and the remaining one was set aside to give to mother later.

”These are headscarves for Xiao Wei, Ziang, and father.”

Headscarves are small cloths for wrapping hair, used by men. Women usually just use a simple hairpin, which might even be a self-carved twig, to tie their hair casually.

Xiao Xue’s sewing box was the most expensive and was a gift that touched Xiao Xue’s heart the most, followed by the small copper mirrors for Xiao Mi and mother.

Xiao Mi didn’t particularly need a mirror; after all, over the years, she was already used to tidying her hair over a basin of water. But that didn’t stop her from being happy.

”Thank you, big brother, I love you so much. I really like this little mirror!” Xiao Mi held the small copper mirror and couldn’t put it down.

Only the mirror surface was a polished smooth copper piece, reflective and bright. The copper piece was encased in wood, but the handle was also carved with some simple patterns.

Xiao Xue was the happiest, but she was more restrained than Xiao Mi, trying hard to suppress her smile: ”Thank you, big brother.”

At the same time, she held the sewing box tightly in her arms, afraid it might fall.

Jiang Yu had already picked up a new headscarf and was about to change it for the eager Jiang Wei.

Among these gifts, the headscarves were perhaps the cheapest, but they represented Jiang Yu’s affection. Besides, these were bought by the big brother from the county, which alone made Jiang Wei very happy, right?

As they were speaking, Liu Ze from next door also came out.

”Xiao Mi, Xiao Xue, Xiao Wei, come out for a moment.”

Xiao Mi knew there were more gifts, pulled her second sister, and went out: ”Coming, coming.”

Jiang Wei also wanted to go, but his hair was still in his brother’s hands, so he could only be anxious and urge his big brother to hurry up.

Liu Ze also had a small box, which he placed on the porch bench. He opened it and first took out two things, placing them directly into Xiao Mi’s hands.

”This is pearl cream. These are for you and auntie. Help me give one to auntie, as winter is approaching. It’s great for the face; I heard many girls in the county use it.”

As he spoke, he handed one to Xiao Xue as well.

It was a porcelain white little jar, just a bit bigger than a walnut. Xiao Mi opened it and sniffed: ”So fragrant.”

Xiao Xue mimicked her and opened it. She didn’t even need to bring it close to smell the rich fragrance.

”Thank you, brother Ze, this smells so good.” Xiao Xue’s eyes curved into little crescents with her smile.

Jiang Yu and Jiang Wei finally came out. Upon seeing the pearl cream, Jiang Yu raised an eyebrow: ”Good thing I gave my gifts early; Xiao Ze’s pearl cream is quite expensive. If I had given mine later, it wouldn’t have seemed special.”

Xiao Xue thought her big brother misunderstood: ”I really like the sewing box you gave me, big brother. I like it a lot.”

Jiang Yu waved his hand: ”I knew you’d like it, that’s why I bought it for you. I originally wanted to get one for Xiao Mi as well, but...”

”No way, I don’t do embroidery. I don’t want a sewing box.” Xiao Mi shook her head like a rattledrum.

Her scared expression made everyone burst into laughter.

Not long after, Liu Ze took out a few more things. For Jiang Wei and Wei Ziang, he brought books, one for each, but different, so they could swap and read.

What he bought for Jiang Wei was seeds rarely found in Fu’an Village or Xiangma Town — sesame seeds.

Finally, Liu Ze took out the most prized item, a craft notebook.

”Xiao Xue, I know you love embroidery. I got some highly skilled embroiderers in the county to jot down their embroidery tips and techniques in it.”

Xiao Xue hadn’t reacted yet, while Xiao Mi exclaimed beside her.

”Wow! Brother Ze, you’re amazing! You can even get this kind of thing!”

Liu Ze smiled lightly, as if he didn’t mind.

”It’s actually nothing, you just need to spend some money to buy it. If there’s a chance to visit the county in the future, you can specifically find an embroiderer to teach Xiao Xue, which would be much better than reading a book.”

For a moment, Xiao Mi felt like she saw a peacock.

A peacock with its tail spread open.
