Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 1135: Chapter 1134: Welcome to Mirai (II)

Because the Ogrande sisters arrived relatively early, they smoothly each managed to obtain a smartphone from the window, along with their own ”telephone number.”

Unlike the modern world, Fang Zheng did not equip the phones from Another World with SIM cards. Instead, the numbers are bound to the phones, meaning one number per phone and no replacements...

So forget about dual-SIM dual-standby; if you want a second line, please buy two phones.

Using a smartphone is very convenient, and since Fang Zheng used Main World’s language for introductions and instructions, it didn’t take long for Ogrande and her sister to quickly learn how to use their phones.

”Sister? Sister? Can you hear my voice? I can hear yours!”

”I can hear you, loud and clear!”

The clear voice of her sister coming through the earbuds made Ogrande’s legs tremble with excitement.

Indeed, remote communication in the Main World isn’t unheard of; for example, mages often use Communication Spell and Breeze Technique. However, these methods have many drawbacks, such as Communication Spell’s distance limit and Breeze Technique’s 150-character limit for messages — from a certain angle, these could be considered the magic-world version of telegraphs.

But these methods have a significant flaw: they require at least one mage in the conversation, and they must know the spell. This is also why, even with magic, the nobility still insists on using letters — after all, there are many things they do not want a third party to convey, and most nobles actually do not know magic. So if two nobles who don’t understand magic wish to contact each other, they have no means to use magic.

However, now, this problem is solved!

Even if they haven’t completely figured out what features the ”smartphones” have, the mere ability to allow two non-magic users to communicate anytime is enough for Ogrande to see the potential and profits in this!

The important question now is where these phones can be used, what the effective distance and range are, what limitations exist...

And to find these answers, there’s only one way.

”Let’s go to the Heavenly Dao Palace exhibit!!”

Grasping her phone, Ogrande quickly made her decision.

Unlike other places, when Ogrande led her sister to the front of the Heavenly Dao Palace exhibit, it was already packed with people, a sea of black waves everywhere.

For the Heavenly Dao Palace exhibit, Fang Zheng fully adopted the design concept from Franca Workshop created by Nanoka. In the center top of the exhibit stood a floating Crystal Tower, while the two sides had three areas delineated by three pure white walls, each decorated in a different style to reflect their themes.

The entire Heavenly Dao Palace exhibit was divided into ”Communication,” ”Information Processing,” and ”Entertainment.” The ”Communication” exhibit mainly used photos and texts to detail the operation of the phones, the range, and how it all worked. The textual descriptions and images were simple and easy to understand, even for someone like Ogrande, who wasn’t very knowledgeable about magic - after reviewing the diagrams, she gained a certain level of understanding of her phone.

”So, this phone communicates by interacting with that Crystal, enabling communication functions within a certain range... Hmm, I see, I understand now...”

Frowning slightly, Ogrande carefully examined the Crystal Tower floating in the air. This means that to use this magic artifact called a phone for communication, one must spend money to construct a Crystal Tower... This is rather troublesome. Perhaps in large cities, it’s not a concern, but in some remote areas, it might not be profitable to spend hefty sums to build such Crystal Towers. Not to mention one must also prevent the Crystal Tower from being attacked and destroyed...

Moreover, the Crystal Tower cannot be moved. In a big city, it can be equipped with patrol units, but in remote areas, it might need hiring someone for protection, which is another significant expense... Perhaps it can be shared with the Defense Troop and fortress cities on the border? They surely would need such crystals for communication with the capital; if so, maybe the price can be lowered, and they could voluntarily send people for protection?

Being a natural businesswoman, once Ogrande calmed down, she immediately began pondering the profits involved and how to earn them. She was sure this invention would change the entire continent! Whether in economics, military, or cultural exchange!

After all, from the current perspective, using a phone to send information, whether communicating or writing a letter, will have no delays! The old days of mailing a letter that takes several days and worrying it’d get lost on the way due to bandits will be gone forever!

Of course, they can send urgent letters via Magic Circle teleportation, but the problem is, how often does a regular person have urgent letters to send? Take Ogrande, does she need urgent mail just to share with friends how beautiful the flowers are blooming in her garden?

Not to mention, magic teleportation is quite expensive!

However, with phones, all these will no longer be an issue! She can send information anytime without worrying about missing letters or encountering problems!

She can completely relax after a day’s work in her garden, enjoying her afternoon tea while audio or video chatting with friends far away in the distance. Or she can use the ”shooting” feature to capture and share the views she sees with other friends...

Just thinking about all this had Ogrande eager!

This is merely Ogrande’s thought from a business and noble angle, but for military-origin officers and high-ranking politicians, it presents another scenario.

Leaving other issues aside, imagine if a fortress on the border faces a surprise attack; getting updates in a second rather than waiting stupidly for days until a messenger appears exhausted on horseback in front of you reporting the attack... what does this mean?

Divine Speed, indeed!

Having such a magical artifact means many generals don’t need to rush to the battlefield; they can observe and command through the phone!

For politicians, this is equally vital. Having information about themselves, friends, enemies — knowing who plans to stab them from behind firsthand is surely more convenient than waiting for the report after the culprit hides away! Having such a tool also means they no longer worry about leaving evidence like letters when contacting loyal allies far away!

In the ”Information Processing” exhibit, instead of a phone, there was something peculiar to Ogrande. It looked like two rectangular black slabs connected, with a sign indicating it’s called — Personal Computer?

To Ogrande, it seemed like an oversized phone. Truth is, Fang Zheng had no intention of directly popularizing computers in this world — the development in Main World was different from other worlds. Here mages exploring the Magic Net researching magic didn’t require computers to assist them in spatial calculations. This needs a complete computing system, and the computing system in Main World differs from Fang Zheng’s world entirely. After much deliberation, Fang Zheng decided to treat computers as ”office supplies” for document printing, input, and various task lists and financial statements at least safer than paper-based records.

More merchants visited this exhibit. After all, merchants understood the importance of accessing financial statements from years ago at a click — knowing their financial sheets in the warehouse stack taller than mountains, nothing happens fine; if something does, they’d dispatch someone to search them for days just to retrieve a minor contract. Now, with a computer recording assist, they needn’t waste time anymore!

No worries about someone burning down their warehouse either.

After finishing with the ”Information Technology” exhibit showcasing ”Computers,” Ogrande led her sister to the third exhibit, the ”Entertainment” exhibit.

Now, she was very curious about how to entertain with these items?

Until then, through the ”Communication” and ”Information Technology” exhibits, Ogrande acknowledged that Fang Zheng’s visit certainly brought a surprise, yet she couldn’t see how to entertain with them... after all, entertainment and gaming differ from the lifestyle and work aspect entirely.

It turns out that Ogrande’s thoughts were correct. The third exhibit had many people, mostly young ones evidently more interested in entertainment games. They gathered at the front, occasionally cheering and waving their hands as if watching a duel.

Does ”Information Entertainment” mean a duel?

A phone duel?

Ogrande found it puzzling but still made her way through. When she and her sister used their slender bodies to squeeze to the forefront, they finally saw the scene before them.

And when they grasped the scene presented at the exhibit, both were completely amazed.
