Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 1134: Chapter 1133: Welcome to Mirai! (I)

The carriage sped along the smooth road, while Ogrande sat on the chair, yawning out of boredom as she watched the scenery outside.

As the head of the Platinum Trading Company, Ogrande was already considered successful. Golden Bay was on the right track, and through controlling the freight at Golden Bay, the Platinum Family had acquired unimaginable wealth and reputation. As a result, Ogrande’s worth had soared, and all that was left was to find a good husband, start a happy family, have children, and raise the next generation.

And now, she was sitting in this carriage, racing through the streets of the capital city of the Magitech Nation, the City of a Thousand Towers.

”Sister, do you think there will be anything good on display at this Magitech Exchange Conference?”

Her sister, sitting opposite Ogrande, kicked her legs out of boredom and started a random topic to pass the time.

”I don’t know what good things might be displayed... However, there should be some good stuff at the Magitech Exchange Conference anyway...”

For mages, the Magitech Exchange Conference was a place to exchange technological insights and achievements. However, for merchants and rulers, the conference was equally important. You could see the crystallization of mages’ novel ideas here, and maybe one of them could make a fortune.

”I really don’t know when that Magitech Vehicle will go into mass production.”

Ogrande’s sister yawned and complained.

”I heard it’s much faster than carriages and doesn’t need rest. If only we could have bought the technology for the Magitech Vehicle back then.”

”That would have cost a fortune, the family wouldn’t allow it. We’re better off sticking to the raw materials business.”

”But this time, Lord Fang Zheng invited you to the Magitech Exchange Conference to collaborate with our Platinum Trading Company, didn’t he?”

”Who knows what he’s thinking.”

Hearing this, Ogrande couldn’t help but feel irked. She had been staying in that godforsaken place, Golden Bay, for so long, and Fang Zheng had never once looked her way, not even for a greeting. Then, not long ago, she received a communication from Fang Zheng, thinking he finally remembered there was someone in Golden Bay counting money for him. But upon opening it, it turned out to be a message about discussing a upcoming collaboration with the Platinum Trading Company.

That was fine, but the issue was that Fang Zheng didn’t even tell her what they were going to collaborate on, only wanting her to see for herself at the Magitech Exchange Conference... It almost drove Ogrande mad.

Couldn’t you show a little concern for me? Do you even understand gentlemanly manners?

”I really wonder what product Lord Fang Zheng will bring to collaborate with our trading company... It can’t be those terrifyingly large Magitech Warships, can it?”

”It shouldn’t be. If it were military goods, he wouldn’t need to find us, the Platinum Trading Company.”

Ogrande shook her head. In fact, she didn’t believe Fang Zheng would choose to sell those Magitech Warships. Although the Platinum Family didn’t deal in arms, Ogrande knew that metal warships of that rank were definitely not for sale. Even if they really were for sale, they wouldn’t be sold at a public venue like the Magitech Exchange Conference.

At this moment, the carriage slowly came to a stop.

”We’re here, Young Lady.”

”Thank you.”

After getting off the carriage, Ogrande casually gave the coachman a silver coin as a tip. She then glanced around, lifted her skirt, and approached the entrance of a building that could be mistaken for a park. A line had already formed at the gate, but it was orderly. After all, those who were qualified to attend the Magitech Exchange Conference were prominent people, either heads of trading powers or representatives of various countries, not to mention a few strong individuals. Naturally, these people understood basic courtesy.

Ogrande and her sister queued up and, after a short wait, cleared the inspection and entered the venue of the Magitech Exchange Conference.

”Whoa...”

As soon as she entered the venue, Ogrande’s sister was amazed, her eyes widening in surprise.

The entire park had been transformed anew by mages using spells, with all kinds of beautiful magical radiance and magical devices that looked wondrous.

If Mr. Fang Zheng were to evaluate, this place seemed more like a fairy tale theme park than any kind of exchange conference...

Compared to her sister who was attending the Magitech Exchange Conference for the first time, Ogrande appeared calmer, having been here more than once. Naturally, she adeptly took out the map given by the attendant at the entrance and started searching carefully.

”What are you looking for, sister?”

”I’m looking for the Heavenly Dao Palace’s booth... huh?”

”What’s wrong?”

”The Heavenly Dao Palace’s booth is actually in the very center region...”

Ogrande was taken aback upon seeing the location of the Heavenly Dao Palace’s booth marked on the map. She knew very well that a booth in the core area meant the technology was being ”promoted” by the Magitech Nation. What exactly did Mr. Fang Zheng present to make the Magitech Nation willingly give him the core booth?

However, Ogrande soon discovered something even stranger.

Not far ahead, people walking on the road were holding a black rectangular object that looked like a stone slab. They were either shouting excitedly at the slab or tapping and sliding their fingers across it, seemingly doing something unknown, and nearly everyone had one of these gadgets.

”Excuse me, what is that you’re holding?”

Unable to hold back her curiosity, Ogrande hurriedly stepped forward and stopped a young nobleman, asking. The young nobleman was initially a bit unhappy about being stopped, but upon seeing Ogrande’s visage, his attitude immediately changed.

”This is a truly great invention, miss! Utterly astounding! It’s called a mobile phone!”

”Mo...bile...phone?”

”Exactly, it allows me to talk to people far away, communicate, and even take pictures and send letters! I never imagined such a miraculous thing could exist! These mages... these mages are just incredible!”

”So amazing?”

In the 21st century, anyone would likely scoff at the functions the young nobleman described, yet for a world where long-distance communication mainly relied on letters, it was earth-shattering!

”Is this... some kind of communication spell tool?”

”No, no, no, miss, this is much more powerful than those magic artifacts enchanted with communication spells!”

The young nobleman shook his head.

”You see, magic artifacts enchanted with communication spells only allow two people to communicate, but with this device, you can communicate with anyone! As long as you exchange phone numbers, you can contact anyone at any time, any place, anywhere!”

As he spoke, the young nobleman excitedly waved his hands, and just then, Ogrande noticed that the black slab in his hand started playing a pleasant melody. Then, she saw the young nobleman swipe the slab with his hand, placing it by his ear.

”Hi, yes, it’s me. I’m back at the gate now... Where are you? Oh? That great, huh? I’ll come and see, wait for me!”

While talking, the young nobleman slid his fingers over the slab, then put down the phone and nodded politely at Ogrande.

”Sorry, my friends are calling for me. I must leave now.”

”Ah, may I ask where you got that device?”

”If you turn right over there, there’s a booth where everyone entering the Magitech Exchange Conference can get a free one as a gift! You ladies should go and get one too; it’s an experience not to be missed!”

After saying this, the young nobleman promptly turned and left. Watching him go, Ogrande turned and grabbed her sister’s hand.

”Come, let’s see what this thing really is.”
