Chapter 1112: Chapter 1111: You’re Not from This World, Are You?

”Phew.......”

Having been busy until late at night, Fang Zheng finally managed to break free, twisting his neck from side to side, and then left the office of the Governor’s Office, heading towards the bedroom.

As for the proposal by the Second Prince of the Britannian Empire, Fang Zheng just listened and let it be. Having traveled through so many worlds, Fang Zheng had developed his own knack for reading people. He could tell at a glance that the Second Prince was quite a tricky character. The reason he proposed that condition was not for some goodwill marriage, but rather to buy time.

He didn’t know what the Second Prince intended to do with the delay, but Fang Zheng didn’t have a good impression of someone who could sell his own sister without batting an eye for his purposes, so he kept his distance from such people.

However, just as Fang Zheng was about to return to his room for a rest, he suddenly saw a figure standing on the balcony at the end of the corridor.

”Hey, isn’t that Green Hair?”

Looking at C.C not far away, Fang Zheng raised his hand to greet her, while C.C. shot him an annoyed glare.

”Can you not call me that?”

”Sure, just tell me your name, and I’ll address you accordingly.”

”I told you, I’m C.C...”

”That’s a fake name, right.”

Fang Zheng snickered at C.C’s retort.

”A fake name is just a code. I think Green Hair sounds better than C.C. anyhow. The latter sounds less like calling a person and more like calling some AI.”

Faced with Fang Zheng’s response, C.C was completely speechless, so she coughed lightly and then changed the subject.

”I have something important to discuss with you.”

”Oh? Have you decided on your death anniversary already?”

”...Can we not talk about this?”

C.C genuinely felt exhausted...why did this guy always have to ask if she planned to die every time he saw her? In hindsight, she shouldn’t have signed a contract with him back then. But now saying these things...alas, there’s no medicine for regret in this world.

”Then come in and talk.”

Fang Zheng wasn’t particularly concerned, so he casually pushed open the door, motioning for C.C to follow him into the room.

Fang Zheng was using a guest room at the Governor’s Office rather than the Governor’s own room, where he had Clovis and Cornelia staying. Fang Zheng wasn’t adept at living in someone else’s space as it always felt a bit like invading territory. Besides, everything was someone else’s, which made using them uncomfortable. On the contrary, staying in a guest room offered more of a hotel stay feel, which wasn’t as bad.

”Go ahead, what’s the matter?”

Fang Zheng took off his coat and then sat on a chair, watching C.C walk in gingerly with a life-sized doll in her arms. Fang Zheng had heard some things about C.C’s behavior from Kurumi. This girl behaved quite well and didn’t play any tricks. Curiously, the person C.C got along best with was Tina.

Their connection was, in retrospect, quite amusing—pizza.

C.C was obsessed with pizza, to the point where she’d exhibit withdrawal symptoms if she didn’t have it for a day. She took advantage of her ageless, immortal state to indulge in pizza every single day. According to C.C, her body’s age was perpetually fixed, so she wouldn’t change no matter how much she ate, thus eating to her heart’s content was actually beneficial for her.

As for Tina’s issue...she could only make pizza.

Tina made excellent pizza, but her skill was limited to pizza making, which was a sticking point. Occasionally, having Tina’s pizza as a change of pace worked out, but having it three meals a day for a month would truly be lethal.

Yet, when paired together, they sparked a synergy.

One would die without three daily pizzas, the other only knew how to make pizza all day; these two were practically made for each other in a sense.

Holding the doll, C.C sat on the sofa beside Fang Zheng, contemplating him carefully. After a moment, she suddenly blurted out a sentence.

”You guys...aren’t from this world, are you.”

”Oh?”

Hearing C.C’s inquiry, Fang Zheng raised an eyebrow.

”Why ask that?”

”I can tell.”

Since C.C had already voiced her thoughts, she decided to just come out with it.

”I’ve lived in this world for quite some time and experienced all sorts of things, but I’ve never known anyone like you to exist, nor have I seen a creature like that Divine Dragon before, or you guys... Even when people came from other worlds after the space-time quake, they didn’t have power like yours, so... I believe you don’t belong to this world.”

”Hmm, well said, so what?”

Fang Zheng nodded, indicating for her to continue. However, C.C was a bit stunned by Fang Zheng’s indifferent attitude.

”Is that...it?”

”What else did you expect me to say?”

Rolling his eyes at C.C’s pointless questioning, Fang Zheng dismissed it.

”You came to see me; it can’t be just to play detective, right? Speak up; I need to bathe and sleep soon.”

”........”

Faced with Fang Zheng’s unconventional reaction, C.C was left speechless too. After some hesitation, she decided to continue.

”Do you know the real reason why the Britannian Empire attacked Japan?”

”Isn’t it for the Sakuradite?”

”That’s just the surface reason.”

C.C shook her head.

”The real reason is that in Japan, there’s a relic the Britannian Emperor needs hidden there.”

”A relic?”

”Yes, that relic can use the Thought Elevator to allow human self-awareness to enter the World of C...”

”And what’s the World of C?”

”The World of C is a collective unconscious of humanity, and in fact, the Britannian Emperor discovered it and plans to use a device called Sword of Akasha...”

C.C gave a brief explanation, and Fang Zheng immediately grasped it.

”So the World of C is actually equivalent to Alaya, and the Britannian Emperor plans for a Human Instrumentality Project?”

As he spoke, Fang Zheng tapped his head and shook it.

”I initially thought this world didn’t have EVA, yet it seems that every messed-up place has people doing such ridiculous things.”

”...You know what I’m talking about?”

C.C was planning on giving Fang Zheng a detailed explanation but was taken aback by his ”How is this bull happening again?” expression.

”Of course. To put it simply, someone believes that all tragedies in this world stem from a lack of mutual understanding, so they want to use the ’World of C’ or whatever to merge everyone’s consciousness to achieve a nuclear-level peace by obliterating the human world, right?”

”...Have you encountered similar situations?”

”Of course, plenty.”

Dismissively responding to C.C’s question, Fang Zheng snorted.

”I’ve even seen people hoping to make the world peaceful by making everyone immortal. What do you think about that?”

”......”

Upon hearing this, C.C shivered involuntarily, knowing better than anyone what kind of Hell that would be.

”Did they...succeed?”

”Failed. I personally dealt with it. Now it looks like I’ll have to do it again in this world.”

”You plan to stop him?”

Fang Zheng’s almost unhesitating answer left C.C stunned. She had at least expected Fang Zheng to ask why the emperor wanted to do such a thing, but he decisively made a decision.

”Of course. World peace through mutual understanding? I once told a young lady with similar fantasies that it’s nothing but a one-sided dream. Whether humans can understand each other has nothing to do with whether they can live peacefully. I like beautiful women, you like handsome guys, everyone gets it, but who can accept it?”

Fang Zheng snorted softly as he continued.

”Such desires are meaningless. What annoys me the most is...why?”

”Why?”

”Exactly.”

Fang Zheng nodded in agreement.

”What annoys me the most is that these people pushing these plans at best represent themselves, or their families, organizations, powers, or nations, and that’s it. Then? Why do they think they can make decisions for all humanity? When did they earn that right? Did they hold a worldwide vote or give a UN speech? If everyone made such a choice, it’d be one thing. The problem is most people don’t know anything about it, and with just a couple of ’for human peace’ or ’no more tragedies’ nonsense, you want to arbitrarily decide their future and destiny?”

Fang Zheng sneered with disdain.

”I find it revolting to abuse the ’for all humanity’ banner, deluding themselves with self-sacrifice trying to destroy the world... Yeah, thanks for the heads-up, I’ll find time tomorrow to sort this out...”

”........”

Faced with Fang Zheng’s reaction, C.C was momentarily speechless.

Once she was escorted out by Fang Zheng, C.C suddenly remembered.

Oh, right—I haven’t even said it yet; how did he decide already?
