Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 1118: Chapter 1117: Humanity Faces a Crisis Once Again?!

When Fang Zheng opened his eyes again, he saw a small, white, tender... foot.

”Nobiru’s sleeping posture is still that bad.”

Glancing at Nobiru, who was almost sprawled across the bed, and Midori, who seemed about to pass out under her, Fang Zheng sighed helplessly, then lifted Nobiru and tucked her back under the blanket—well, after half a night of arguments yesterday, Fang Zheng ended up sleeping with the girls to calm them down.

Little girls are easier to appease.

Fang Zheng tidied Midori’s hair, touched the little faces of Yoshino and Natsuse sleeping beside him, then crawled out of bed, stepped over the little ones, and got up. Afterward, Fang Zheng headed to the bathroom to wash his face and brush his teeth, poured himself a cup of hot water, and hummed a tune while heading to the living room, where he turned on the TV and sat on the sofa to enjoy the news.

The morning news on TV wasn’t of much substance, basically about the various rules and reconstruction work of districts merging into the Chinese Federation—after all, when it comes to infrastructure, they’re number one, and building houses and farming are their forte.

However, just when Fang Zheng was waiting to watch today’s ”Busy Leadership” series before flipping through follow-up news about a singer’s extramarital affair caught by paparazzi, he saw the host suddenly receive a script from a staff member nearby. After skimming it, the host’s expression subtly changed, and then he spoke.

”Dear viewers, we interrupt to bring you an urgent news update. Just last night, the Earth Federation’s observatories detected a mysterious flash on Jupiter, prompting detailed observations. The results, however, were quite shocking.”

Soon after, with a flash of the screen, the silvery white creatures at Jupiter Orbit and the Reapers they had fused into appeared on the television.

Meanwhile, the host’s slightly anxious voice echoed again.

”Please watch, based on expert analysis, it’s preliminarily concluded that these entities currently at Jupiter Orbit are the terrifying Reapers—the same ones that previously launched large-scale attacks and destroyed several colony satellites! The Earth Federation is currently holding an emergency meeting to discuss...”

”Beep beep beep.”

It was then that Fang Zheng’s phone rang. He instinctively turned off the news and answered the phone. Soon, His Majesty’s voice came through.

”Imperial Brother, did you watch the news?”

”Yes, I saw it.”

Upon hearing His Majesty’s inquiry, Fang Zheng nodded. He wasn’t even surprised because he had led so many Explosive Mosquitoes to attack those bizarre alien creatures before, so it was normal for Earth to notice something amiss.

”The Earth Federation has summoned all leaders to attend a meeting to address this urgent situation, and I’ve been invited to attend, so...”

At this point, His Majesty hesitated but then spoke softly.

”Could Imperial Brother accompany me to the meeting?”

”Of course, no problem.”

Fang Zheng naturally wouldn’t refuse His Majesty’s request. In truth, he was curious to see how the Earth Federation would handle this situation.

With the matter of 11 District wrapped up, the only thing left was to consider extortion with Brittania by returning the captives—although Brittania’s Emperor occupied Japan with the true intention of accessing the relic connecting ”Another World,” the Sakuradite resources were crucial for Brittania. Now that the Chinese Federation occupied 11 District, Sakuradite mining and transportation were directly halted. Without opening transportation routes, Britania’s warships and mechas would be scrap iron in a month.

Thus, Fang Zheng handed over affairs to the acting governor responsible for these matters and directly flew to the Earth Federation headquarters to attend the high-level meeting.

However...

”What’s going on? How did those Reapers end up at Jupiter?!”

”Why didn’t anyone detect it earlier?!”

”What do we do now?”

”We must immediately assemble an army... According to reports, they’re advancing towards Earth, aren’t they?”

”This won’t be enough. We’ve tried before and couldn’t defeat these Reapers. I suggest we contact that mysterious force right away...”

”But this concerns the fate of humanity as a whole; do you want to entrust humanity’s fate to people from Another World?”

”You’re saying that, but aren’t we also from other worlds? We fought too!”

”That’s not what I meant...”

Leaning back in his chair, looking at the high officials arguing in the distance, Fang Zheng yawned and turned his head to His Majesty beside him.

”Now I understand how the Reapers attacked Earth last time. With this speed, they might still be arguing three years from now without a conclusion.”

”Why are they arguing so much?”

His Majesty sat bewildered, watching the suit-clad officials arguing intensely, not knowing how to react—this was her first time attending a diplomatic occasion personally, despite her growing maturity. This scene made her question if everything she’d learned was false.

”It’s useless; they’re just arguing.”

Fang Zheng shook his head. Human defect; they never repent until facing imminent death. They’d barely escaped being harvested by the Reapers before, yet they argued endlessly, treating time as if it were unimportant.

This Earth Federation is rotten to the core.

Bored listening to the arguments between officials and representatives within Earth Federation, Fang Zheng yawned again and privately shook his head. According to calculations, in ninety days, these pseudo-Reapers will reach Earth, yet these people still find time to argue over trivial matters, truly...

”Your Majesty, let’s prepare to leave after this meeting concludes.”

After listening for a while longer and confirming this supposed high-level meeting was actually just an exchange of responsibility without wanting it but refusing to accept it, Fang Zheng decisively decided.

”Eh? Leaving like this... Will it be okay?”

His Majesty looked surprised at Fang Zheng’s response.

”Isn’t this about humanity’s survival?”

”They don’t seem to care about the survival of humanity.”

Fang Zheng sneered at His Majesty’s inquiry.

”But we should care about the survival of the citizens of the Chinese Federation. We’ll return and start building warships and VF at full capacity, and yes, construct a few immigrant ships.”

”Immigrant ships?”

”Of course, just in case, we should preserve some seeds.”

This time, Fang Zheng wasn’t completely confident. While humans might be unaware, Fang Zheng was very clear—these silvery alien organisms can fuse and integrate with anything they contact. In this situation, Fang Zheng couldn’t afford to let fleets risk and couldn’t let Swarm directly confront them—given their nature, if they fused with Swarm’s geometric growth, it would be a nightmare.

Therefore, after careful consideration, Fang Zheng eventually decided to use Primordial Fire to destroy them. Due to its immense power, Fang Zheng had to prepare for any eventuality.

As for people in other places... Fang Zheng couldn’t be bothered.

”Boom boom boom!!”

Just then, a pounding sound echoed, interrupting Earth Federation’s high-level argument, and Fang Zheng looked up to see a bearded man standing.

”We need sufficient reinforcements now, regardless of who they are or their intentions. If they’re willing to help us, they’re our friends! We must contact that mysterious fleet and seek their support!”

With that, the bearded man looked at another person beside him.

”Admiral Goto, regarding Nadeshiko... any progress?”

”Currently, no progress.”

”... You must do everything possible to ensure contact with that mysterious fleet! Nadeshiko and its crew are the only ones who’ve had contact with or know anything about that world! Action must be taken briskly.”

Upon hearing this, Admiral Goto lowered his head helplessly and sighed.

”Understood.”

”Hmm...”

Upon hearing this, Fang Zheng touched his chin.

This seems like a good opportunity for some action...
