System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

”My dad said Professor Tajima has kept silent on this issue and hasn’t supported this suggestion.”

Mu Nanshu sat down and let go, avoiding triggering the single crowd like Zhang Xibei and Ni Xixin.

She spoke up, ”Borrowing the basic theory of medicine and the essence of Suturing Technique is not considered plagiarism and certainly not fusion.”

”Unless there’s significant similarity in external form, then it requires joint authorship.”

”Or if it’s a collaborative effort, developed together, it should have joint authorship. This person’s suggestion is seriously unfounded.”

”Surely not many would support him.”

Xie Yuan’an glanced at Lu Cheng, ”Of course, this issue is not the main focus. This time, a newly developed tendon suture device has emerged, with quality exceeding that of the last international conference.”

”It can almost reach 86% of a mature doctor’s level.”

”If it’s not for extremely complex surgeries like limb reimplantation and functional reconstruction, this tendon suture device will be very, very useful, with vast economic benefits.”

”It’s also easy to use, that any doctor with a little knowledge of hand surgery can apply it, managing most clinical situations with procedural needle threading.”

”My dad went into seclusion for almost two days after coming back.”

”He finally said the level he spent over a decade achieving is now replaced by a small suture device!”

The dinner atmosphere shouldn’t have been so serious and weighty in the first place.

Xie Yuan’an wasn’t saying these things to show off her broad knowledge base, it just casually came up in the conversation.

Whether it’s about economic benefits or international technique competition, does it really matter to ordinary doctors like them?

Definitely not, if it weren’t for Lu Cheng’s unexpected entrance into technique development, he wouldn’t need to think about seeing the international stage within ten years.

Is it possible?

These things, rather the tall ones feel melancholy, they just take them as talking points, letting youth flow undisturbed, no need to take them to heart.

No one will push such pressure onto young doctors in their thirties.

”This is the task of medical device development, assigned to medical companies’ R&D departments, not belonging to us clinical doctors.”

Lu Cheng said, ”If such a promotional device is introduced, it can also reduce the cost and psychological burden for young doctors doing tendon sutures, giving us more time to improve other aspects of ourselves.”

”That would be a very good thing.”

Celebrate the progress, and also acknowledge the shortcomings.

Hua Country’s top-level surgical operations compare to none, even leading the way.

Regarding medical devices and pharmaceutical R&D, Hua Country is globally at the infant stage, but that’s not about boosting others to diminish ourselves.

In conclusion, the reason Hua Country’s medical level can currently be in the world’s first tier is solely supported by its medical team’s personal abilities and not based on the ’economic foundation’ of ’medicine and devices’!

Dai Linfang asked Lu Cheng, ”Is there hope to graft your technique onto the suture device?”

Lu Cheng laughed and asked, ”What would be the point?”

”To raise the absolute effectiveness of the current suture device from 86% of a mature doctor to 91%?”

”How much should we sell it to patients post-investment to break even?”

Dai Linfang shook his head, sniffing, ”True, actually the discomfort is more from being overshadowed.”

”Especially since this suture device comes from Japan, it makes it even more uncomfortable.”

Lu Cheng said, ”If we truly wanted to make suture devices, the effectiveness of making fine vessel suture devices or nerve suture devices is better than just using tendon suture as leftovers...”

”However, there aren’t many mature suture devices domestically right now, which indicates a considerable gap in the corresponding technology, making it as if ’even a skilled woman cannot cook without rice.’

”Based on this, currently we can only think of using personal operations to solve new clinical diseases, or through improving mature techniques, develop new clinical techniques to better address some mature clinical conditions.”

”For instance, open and minimally invasive appendicitis surgeries, the first case of limb preservation surgery for major injuries, extensive spleen repair surgery, laparoscopic spleen repair surgery, etcetera.”

Lu Cheng has read many articles, experienced nearly a year of literature reading, reading daily, benefiting from each opening, enabling him to grasp a broader understanding of efficacy in the research field.

Xie Yuan’an suddenly blurted, ”My dad also said this during the Asia-Pacific Conference, among all the famous and named individuals there, Lu Cheng was the youngest.”

”He was at least twelve years younger than the second youngest.”

Dai Linfang’s expression suddenly turned uncomfortable, his voice tightened, ”Being able to give a lecture at forty-two in such a venue requires great talent.”

”He managed it by sheer luck, allowing him to surpass the curves.”

”Suturing Technique is merely a branch within hand surgical disease treatment...”

Xie Yuan’an’s phoenix-like eyes narrowed, her tone serious, ”Suturing Skill is the most basic surgical theory, and certainly not likely to be shaken. Building on that, what could be more impactful for hand surgery than improving and innovating technique?”

”Do you know how many surgeries can evoke new life by a new Suturing Skill?”

”Take tendon rupture for instance, how much can the retear rate be reduced, how many points can postoperative hand function grading be improved?”

Mu Nanshu quietly watched as Xie Yuan’an, who either didn’t understand or just refused to humor Dai Linfang, employed her emotional leverage.

Then silently watched Lu Cheng sitting calmly, looking as Xie Yuan’an occasionally bowed her head, occasionally turned her gaze to Lu Cheng, with feelings of insight yet helplessness.

Dai Linfang was rendered speechless, if he hadn’t known all this, why bother thick-skinned joining Lu Cheng’s group?

Obviously, Dai Linfang didn’t abandon pursuit, ”Surely I know, isn’t that, not even halfway? The technique hasn’t been formally applied in clinics yet?”

”We can’t commit the error of opening champagne halfway, and risk later disappointment, affecting enthusiasm.”

”Our journey is still very long.”

Xie Yuan’an glanced over at Dai Linfang, looked him up and down, raised her pointed chin slightly, ”Publicly we can’t celebrate, can’t we celebrate privately?”

”Then what’s the point of living life carefully and cautiously, guarding every step?”

Lu Cheng quickly mediated, ”Why are we arguing about this? Today we gather not to celebrate a publication but to come together for a new project launch.”

”Both Dai Linfang and Xie Yuan’an are right, we can celebrate privately, but shouldn’t be arrogant because of it.”

”Have a clear understanding of what we’ve achieved, aware of its value, not feeling depressed when criticized, nor cocky when praised, that’s self-awareness.”

”I’d like to emphasize, I used to lack self-awareness, so now I’m working hard to improve that.”

The past events about Lu Cheng, everyone knew to some extent.

Zhang Xibei hastily interjected to comfort, ”Brother Lu, let’s not dwell on past events, it could be regrettable in the future.”

”Besides, Brother Lu, you’re doing very well now.”

”Right?”

Lu Cheng shook his head, ”Whether I’m doing well or not isn’t just based on what I accomplished but also on how many friends are willing to help.”

”How many mentors are willing to guide.”

”No one can make it through relying solely on themselves.”

”To say something unpleasant, even if a man wants to show off, someone needs to lend a hand, otherwise...”

As Lu Cheng opened up, he got a playful kick from Mu Nanshu, blushing with embarrassment.

”Watch your words,” Mu Nanshu gently chided.

Knowing this was hard to convey, Lu Cheng adjusted his wording, ”For a person aiming at self-realization, certainly there must be people who silently become the background.”

”I just hope we can be each other’s backgrounds in different fields.”

”To accomplish this, let’s do it progressively, effectively.”

Following Lu Cheng’s lead in discussions, everyone nodded emphatically.

Unconsciously, Lu Cheng, as a team leader, gradually growing, sits with peace of mind, gaining admiration and acceptance.

This acceptance is not just initial shock and surprise, like how Lu Cheng manages to innovate Suturing Skills at such a young age? Is it true?

After summing up Lu Cheng’s daily life, thoughts, character, interactions, learning attitude, life attitude, work attitude, they find that it’s very normal for Lu Cheng to reach this point.
