System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

Fu Luoyin knew, of course, that Director Wu Xiang of Trauma Surgery had long been planning this but had not yet taken action.

Now, suddenly, Lu Cheng came out of nowhere and intercepted both their plans.

In a prefecture-level city hospital, implementing a new surgical technique is not a matter of taking turns in line.

Whoever can perform it first gets the priority.

It’s not about Director Wu Xiang wanting to do it first, so he gets the priority.

...

The office of the Emergency Department Trauma Center is in a remote location; in the afternoon, only two narrow beams of light come in, at most five centimeters wide and fifteen centimeters long.

Lu Cheng was engrossed in messaging, the sound of WeChat notifications constantly buzzing.

”Brother Lu, I’ve handed over to the on-duty doctor in the Hand Surgery Department,” Dai Linfang reported.

While Dai Linfang was reporting, Chen Fang was also briefing him: ”Brother Dai, Director Tian Zhiliang in the ER helped perform a splenectomy for a ruptured spleen.”

”I was in the middle of debridement and suturing and couldn’t leave the patient. The ruptured spleen patient couldn’t wait either.”

Dai Linfang’s tone was calm: ”It’s okay, actions have consequences, and every choice comes with pros and cons; we’re all just ordinary people trying to manage multiple things.”

Dai Linfang’s gaze was directed only toward Lu Cheng. Lu Cheng was still bowing his head, chatting with others.

Lu Cheng was in a good mood at this moment, and seeing Dai Linfang’s gaze, he proactively said, ”If you want to see, come over and join; I’m also here to learn.”

Dai Linfang immediately rushed forward two steps.

The desire for thrill and peeking is a natural instinct for many, and no one can refuse an invitation to peek.

Hu Cong: ”Based on the content shown in the video, the likelihood of successful limb preservation is very high. The core of limb preservation surgery lies in thorough debridement based on reconstructing blood supply. No necrotic tissue should remain.”

”But pay careful attention to reperfusion injury and electrolyte disturbance caused by metabolic waste.”

Hu Cong: ”Brother Lu, during your university days, you should have spent less time dating and more time participating in activities, or stayed at the same hospital for your postgraduate studies.”

Participating in more activities could earn you extra credits from societies, and reading more books could place Lu Cheng’s GPA in the top ten percent of his year.

Like Lu Cheng, trying to get into Huashan Hospital with just a high preliminary exam score for the postgraduate entrance exam was quite risky.

Objectively speaking, the group taking the entrance exam are ”pseudo-scholars” filtered out by the exemption admissions.

Lu Cheng’s academic performance back then was quite decent, with raw scores around the top twenty percent.

However, Han City University had a rule for exemption admissions that screened Lu Cheng out: The college requires a comprehensive evaluation of students, with a maximum score of 100 points. Students whose total score is below 60 or any score in a single item is below 60% of that item’s maximum score cannot qualify for exemption.

Lu Cheng used to think that, having reached university, being able to continue studying was already good enough, so why all those ”society activities”?

In fact, other students chose to engage in these because they had long ”understood” the basic operating rules.

Exemption admissions have their operating rules, postgraduate exams have theirs, County Hospitals have theirs, and so does State People’s Hospital.

Was Lu Cheng ever beaten down by life before the postgraduate exams?

No, he hasn’t.

The blows from society usually come unexpectedly and from a lack of understanding.

”The past is past, regrets can only remain regrets; thanks, Brother Hu, for sharing the information.” Lu Cheng typed in reply.

Hu Cong replied: ”If you wanted to find those materials, you certainly could; they are not some secret knowledge.”

”To learn and get the hang of it so quickly proves that Brother Lu, your fundamental skills are genuinely profound and you are adept at drawing analogies.”

”I should have thought of this earlier; the fact that Master had Senior Brother Li Yuankun step in shows he truly saw something in you, your talent is really excellent.”

”Otherwise?”

Lu Cheng: ”Is it because Senior Brother Li Yuankun has a lower threshold?”

Hu Cong didn’t defend Li Yuankun; Lu Cheng, also trained at Zhongnan Hospital: ”Yes, you understand.”
