System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

Do you still want him to live with regret for the rest of his life?

”Director Wu, of course, it’s not to upset you. We need your personal guidance, hoping to seize a slim chance.”

”Moreover, if it doesn’t work out, having you communicate with the patient’s family would also be natural.”

”To be honest, I’m afraid of bearing the consequences of this incident and unable to convince the family. I hope you can come and support the scene.”

”I believe that you, Director Wu, as a veteran in trauma surgery, are willing to mentor us juniors.” Lu Cheng’s words were both flattering and proactive.

”You don’t need to flatter me. Once I’m done here, about half an hour.” Wu Xiang responded.

”We’ll wait for you, Director Wu. Thank you, Director Wu.” Lu Cheng hung up the phone unilaterally.

To solve the problem, to better solve the patient’s problem, retreating to advance is not disgraceful.

Lu Cheng doesn’t have to perform the damaging surgery to appear noble, nor is he someone who becomes inferior by saying a few soft words.

...

After hanging up the phone, Lu Cheng walked toward the doctor’s office.

Dai Linfang was explaining the surgical procedure to the patient’s family: ”Debridement and suturing are the most basic responses to trauma. No matter where you go, at home or abroad, debridement and suturing are used for handling trauma.”

”Amputation is a therapeutic measure based on debridement and suturing.”

”We can’t amputate randomly, can we?”

Chen Fang was explaining the necessity of the doctor’s orders to the patient: ”Preoperative examination is just in case. What if there’s massive bleeding during surgery and a need for transfusion arises? What if there’s no prior test before a transfusion, then what?”

”What if there are heart or lung issues and something unexpected happens during surgery?”

”Isn’t your life worth more than an ECG or a chest X-ray?”

”I don’t see it that way. I am a doctor. In my eyes, the patient’s life is paramount, and no amount of caution is too much.”

”Even if we do it wrong ten thousand times and the patient is fine, that’s even better. At least it’s reassuring.”

”And on the ten thousand and first time, if a problem is discovered, it can be addressed in advance. In situations where surgery can’t proceed, we postpone the surgery, don’t we?”

Compared to the conversations of Zhang Tiesheng and others at the County People’s Hospital, Chen Fang’s conversation sign-off skills were slightly superior.

The woman couldn’t argue due to the respectful humanistic concern: ”Hmm, okay!~”

”Thank you, doctor.”

Compared to the blunt expression at the County People’s Hospital — ’If you don’t do the tests, you don’t get surgery, what else are you going to do’ — Chen Fang’s delivery was more forgiving and made patients willingly accept it.

...

Ultimately, damage control surgery is emergency surgery, not elective surgery. The preoperative examinations follow emergency procedures, the preoperative discussions are emergency procedures, and the surgical arrangements are emergency procedures.

The results of ECG and chest X-ray can be obtained quickly, and blood draws for tests like coagulation are also emergency procedures. It’s estimated that by the time they finish sterilizing and draping, the results will be out before the formal start of the surgery.

In this type of damage, even with mild coagulation disorders, surgery needs to be performed.

Before entering the operating room, Lu Cheng and Dai Linfang specifically instructed Chen Fang, if the trauma center has any issues they can’t handle, push it to the rescue room and let Tian Zhiliang over there assist in proceeding with the procedures.

Lu Cheng and Chen Fang both came from the rescue room to the trauma center, not separated individually. They have good relationships, so such requests won’t be refused.

Tian Zhiliang and others will also call Lu Cheng over to help.

However, when Chen Fang mentioned this to Tian Zhiliang in the rescue room, Tian Zhiliang was stunned.

Having held it in for a long time, Tian Zhiliang’s throat was tight and his voice was restrained: ”Director Xiao really seems to be acting a bit inhuman in these last few months.”

From Tian Zhiliang’s perspective, Lu Cheng definitely wasn’t the first to perform ’Limb Preservation Surgery’ today. He had mentioned it to Xiao Zhaoxi before, but to maintain stability in the emergency department, Xiao Zhaoxi ignored Lu Cheng’s suggestion.

Doing this is definitely a good thing.

It not only helps the hospital handle inspections but also helps Xiao Zhaoxi transition smoothly to the Provincial People’s Hospital.

However, doing so left too much open-ended, making Lu Cheng seem even more enigmatic in the eyes of Tian Zhiliang and others.

What Tian Zhiliang said wasn’t too excessive, so Chen Fang just quietly lowered her eyelids: ”Director Tian, I’m just afraid that Lu Cheng will cause trouble.”

Tian Zhiliang said: ”Trouble? Of course, it’s trouble.”

”If it doesn’t work out, Director Wu Xiang from trauma surgery will have to put on a good face and say some good words to the patient, which would trouble Director Wu Xiang.”

”If it succeeds, Director Wu Xiang can make Lu Cheng’s life very difficult. The future jurisdiction of damage control will depend on whether the hospital leadership, Director Wu, and Lu Cheng can reach an agreement.”

Chen Fang looked alarmed: ”I’m also afraid this matter will become a responsibility for our trauma center.”

”At that time, won’t the pressure fall on us?”

”Isn’t Lu Cheng still too young and promising? So he doesn’t quite understand the situation below?”

”What should we do if he can do it?”

The trauma center is a coalition. At least within the hospital level, the trauma center is a subspecialty downstream of the emergency department.

Tian Zhiliang once served as the leader: ”There are two methods, first, Lu Cheng teaches, you all learn.”

”Second, Lu Cheng’s stance is firm, and the allocation and consultation of damage control will depend on his attitude.”

”Is that possible?” Chen Fang thought it seemed unreliable.

The two possibilities that Tian Zhiliang mentioned seemed quite far-fetched.

”Why is it not possible?”

”Do you think Lu Cheng is still the same as a few months ago?” Tian Zhiliang touched his bald head.

The long eye corners above his collapsed nose were particularly prominent.

”Lu Cheng probably has his sources; he must have heard some of the recent rumors in the hospital.” Tian Zhiliang’s voice was cautious.

Chen Fang said: ”Can these words even reach Lu Cheng’s ears? Who would dare to pass it on?”

”Aren’t they afraid of Lu Cheng quitting?”

Chen Fang had also heard these rumors!

After all, Lu Cheng just arrived at the State People’s Hospital, and it’s only been five years since he became an attending. If he were to be easily promoted to associate senior rank, it wouldn’t be fair to other senior attendings in the hospital.

Resume assessments and queuing remain the consistent principles in ranking titles at the State People’s Hospital, especially for those senior attendings who, upon hearing that Lu Cheng was about to be promoted to associate senior rank, turned red-eyed like rabbits, jumping up ready to bite.
