System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

Dai Linfang nodded and said okay, then got up and headed towards the doctor’s office.

As he walked, Dai Linfang continued to furrow his brows in thought, the tension in his brow slowly relaxing as his mental knots unraveled.

Lu Cheng had stayed at Zhongnan Hospital; Dai Linfang had also admired Professor Lan Hualuo’s reputation and visited Zhongnan Hospital for a time, but wasn’t well-received.

Reflecting on Professor Lan Hualuo’s discussions on limb preservation surgery in clinical settings, they appeared as something easy for those who understood, yet challenging for those who didn’t.

The entry threshold for this surgical technique is very high, requiring very solid foundational skills. Once these skills are acquired, if one possesses certain qualifications and intelligence, learning becomes easier.

Is Lu Cheng intelligent enough?

This point is undeniably true.

Dai Linfang himself is a smart person; he has categorized intelligence into many aspects.

The first aspect is learning ability, which is pure natural talent bestowed by the heavens.

The second aspect is application, or the ability to realistically express what one has learned.

Many excel in high school academics, yet fail exams miserably, unable to secure their place. It’s not just about how much one learns, but how much they can utilize.

The third aspect is the ability to integrate resources and information.

Lu Cheng stands out in the latter two aspects.

After the tendon suturing technique set sail at Huazhong Union Hospital, Professor Lan Hualuo’s team discussed this technique in the project group.

While it’s not an absolutely original concept like limb preservation surgery, it involves organizing and integrating existing classical techniques, advancing while standing on the shoulders of giants.

To speak of its difficulty, it might be just the matter of pushing open a door.

Yet as for its ease, classic techniques have existed for decades; only Lu Cheng managed to open this door. Other teams have delved in this direction but couldn’t find their way.

This integrative ability is unmatched by ordinary individuals.

Subsequent techniques like nerve, vascular, spleen, and liver suturing are all integrative applications.

Lu Cheng’s deficiency may lie in his own strength, foundational skills, and the initial accumulation process of surgeries.

Currently, Lu Cheng has broken through this layer of restriction; with his honed learning ability coupled with his information integration capability, no one can precisely define the potential upper limit Lu Cheng can reach.

It is based on this that Dai Linfang passively decided to slap the faces of his ”friends” in Xiangzhou, stepping in to take their place.

...

After carefully organizing the sequence and details of how to communicate with Director Wu Xiang, Lu Cheng whispered:

”Surgery must not be done haphazardly, procedures must not be disrupted.”

Maturity isn’t just reflected in one’s words and actions, but also in their realistic learning ability.

In other words, it’s about whether someone possesses a general empathy dismissing individual cases.

For instance, some academy teachers, like Professor Wu Mengchao, still work in clinical settings even at eighty or ninety years old.

Can this be used to require all surgeons to personally attend clinical tasks at such ages?

Can everyone at this age be asked to work arduously under the guise of ”wanting to work”?

Thinking from another perspective, one’s existence is truly independent, enhanced by ”attachments.”

According to normal and basic skills accumulation, without surprises, one should be transformed into ’Tian Zhuang’!

If there were no procedural restrictions, letting ’Tian Zhuang’ lead a team to apply for limb preservation surgery, who would believe it?

Even if the starting point were higher, letting ’Dai Linfang’ lead a team to apply for limb preservation surgery, how many would dare agree?

The call has connected.

Lu Cheng smiled and said: ”Director Wu, hello, I’m Lu Cheng from the Trauma Center, sorry to bother you abruptly.”

Bang bang! Bang bang!

Judging by the sound, Wu Xiang is likely performing intramedullary nail fixation surgery or something similar, requiring the fixation apparatus to be struck into the marrow.

Wu Xiang replied formally: ”Speak, I’m in surgery.”

”Director Wu, it’s like this, we have a foot damage injury over here. I’ve carefully investigated the relevant wound, and the situation is quite complicated.”

”However, personally, I have some thoughts regarding this, and wanted to suggest them to Director Wu for consideration.”

”Previously, my standardized training unit was Han City University Affiliated Zhongnan Hospital, and my training department was the Trauma Surgery where Professor Lan Hualuo once...”

As they spoke, the assistant of Director Wu Xiang’s sound of hammering the intramedullary nail grew quieter.

As a chief physician, Wu Xiang has certainly moved past the phase of physically demanding tasks. He watches others hammer, while evaluating the depth and position of the intramedullary nail himself.

”Are you trying to make fun of me?” Wu Xiang instinctively frowned, his tone slightly abrasive.

Lu Cheng replied: ”Director Wu, I was capable of remaining silent, as usual.”

”But having this thought, I still wish to discuss the operational possibilities with Director Wu.”

”I’ve performed amputations before and should be able to execute them well.”

On Wu Xiang’s side, he took several deep breaths, holding his voice: ”Oh, so now you’re trying to annoy me.”

In an instant, Wu Xiang’s tone altered drastically, akin to a child lamenting over losing their favorite toy.

However, he’s not a child and cannot express his problems through crying.

Expressing grievances maturely transformed into a mismatched distortion of tone.

Wu Xiang finally recalled Lu Cheng once seeking employment at State People’s Hospital, a time when Lu Cheng proactively presented himself.

Wu Xiang saw Lu Cheng’s education was just a bachelor’s degree, rejected him outright, and numerous undergraduates have been turned down over the years.

Wu Xiang had already shifted his focus, yet Lu Cheng was here to ”stir things up,” trying to ruin his reputation?
