System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

Qu Daowen is not Lu Cheng either.

...

”Director Wu, please have some tea. The department doesn’t have any good tea leaves. Please make do.” In the lounge, Dai Linfang, who was called by Lu Cheng, took care of logistics first before sitting down.

Zhang Zixu went to the operating room to work like a horse, while Chen Fang prepared some fruits and carried several big bags: ”Director Wu, you can choose first.”

As the saying goes, don’t hit a smiling face.

But Wu Xiang came here to ask for help, and suddenly being surrounded by Lu Cheng and his team was unexpected.

He looked at Lu Cheng and his team one by one, grinned: ”What are you trying to do? Eat me?”

”This old bag of bones, how much meat do I have?”

Lu Cheng said: ”Director Wu, you’re overthinking it. Mainly, we’re all young and afraid we won’t understand your instructions, so we gathered like this.”

Dai Linfang nodded: ”Director Wu, just say what you need. Anyway, all three of us are here.”

Chen Fang didn’t participate in the private conversation between Lu Cheng and Dai Linfang and didn’t quite understand what trick they were playing, so he took a few fruit platters and slipped away.

Chen Fang remained courteous: ”Director Wu, I’ll deliver the fruit platter next door, excuse me for a moment.”

Wu Xiang’s vertical lines deepened, his cheekbones protruded but no sound came out, stopping just short of speaking several times: ”What kind of game are you two playing?”

”I’m here to discuss with Lu Cheng about the matter of the damage injury duty schedule.”

”Lu Cheng can’t always be on duty, nor can he not be on duty at all. There must be a specific plan.”

Lu Cheng certainly understood Wu Xiang’s intentions but was afraid he couldn’t handle it: ”Director Wu, I understand your point, but my schedule affects the whole team.”

”I change my schedule according to Dr. Dai and Chen Fang’s shifts, so their opinions are also important.”

”We don’t have any other intention.”

”If there’s really something else, I have to consult Director Huang.”

The trauma center is under the emergency department, managed by Huang Haibo in principle, but it has autonomy.

Lu Cheng is the deputy director of the emergency department and the person in charge of the trauma center. He laid all his cards out to prevent being silently sold out by Wu Xiang.

Lu Cheng had expected Director Wu Xiang to look for him, but didn’t consider it would happen today.

When unprepared events occur, one should try their best to handle them.

Wu Xiang reached out and tapped both Lu Cheng and Dai Linfang on the shoulders: ”What’s your mindset here?”

”It makes our unit look like a nest of vipers and rats.”

”Let me be clear, I intend to send someone to your trauma center and have him stationed here, solely responsible for damage injury matters.”

”Naturally, Lu Cheng might need to train him for a while!~”

Dai Linfang smirked, his tone stiff: ”Isn’t that just freeloading? Damage injury isn’t even a designated category for our trauma center.”

”Helping is a favor, not helping is the duty.”

Wu Xiang snorted: ”How is damage injury not a designated category for the trauma center?”

Dai Linfang: ”For example?”

”Why Huashan Hospital, Modu Sixth Hospital…” Wu Xiang curled his finger.

Dai Linfang immediately said: ”You mentioned Huashan, Modu Sixth Hospital, not Xiangzhou People’s Hospital?”

”For example?” Dai Linfang continued his argument.

Many hospitals have established trauma centers, but those that manage damage injuries are few and far between, and none are not among the nation’s top hospitals.

State People’s Hospital, a tertiary hospital in a prefecture-level city, dares to compare itself with these. Director Wu Xiang can then fire at academicians!

An academician’s professional title is just Director Physician, the top title!

”Then what do you suggest?” Wu Xiang understood why Lu Cheng called Dai Linfang.

Lu Cheng hasn’t studied this in depth, but Dai Linfang has thoroughly researched it and is the main person on this issue.

Lu Cheng is harsh, without any craving for power, like a rogue, handing over authority without hesitation.

”Only during regular working hours, not during overtime!~” Dai Linfang directly stated the lowest line.

Wu Xiang was so angry that his protruding jaw threatened to tear his mouth: ”You might as well say you’re not doing it.”

”Didn’t Director Wu ask me to speak?”

Dai Linfang said: ”Brother Lu is human too, he’s tired and needs sleep, sleeps through the night and snores!~”

Wu Xiang was not interested in Dai Linfang’s complaints: ”Just tell me what you really think. Stop with the nonsense.”

Dai Linfang glanced at Lu Cheng, didn’t see Lu Cheng shake his head, and said: ”Director Wu, you should first apply to adjust the past data of limb damage injuries in Ji City, calculate the average, calculate seasonal frequency differences.”

”Based on the average, based on common consultation times, adjust Brother Lu’s shift times.”

”Also.”

Wu Xiang held up his hand to interrupt: ”You want me to write a paper then.”

What a joke, that’s a huge amount of work?

Dai Linfang quickly replied: ”But that’s the standard planning and arrangement.”

”We can do it, but why should we? It’s not our business.”

”Of course, if Director Wu is willing, I’m currently dealing with spleen and pancreas injury statistics, it could run concurrently.”

”But… hehe.” Dai Linfang tore off the facade.

Not professional, right? That’s fine, but if you ask for help, can’t come empty-handed!

Dai Linfang is keen to be stationed permanently in Xiangzhou People’s Hospital, so he wants to prepare everything more thoroughly and precisely, in the most official and formal manner.

Some things may be unexpected, but even those can be statistically analyzed and purposefully divided into time segments.

Like how the emergency department needs tennis balls during the day is still scarce.

”Are you threatening me?” Wu Xiang’s face fell.

Lu Cheng spoke timely, saying: ”Director Wu, it’s not like that. It’s necessary preparation.”

”Before, according to the communication with your department’s on-duty doctors, I was scheduled to receive at most five or six similar cases a month.”

”If that was the scope, I wouldn’t refuse.”

”But you came over now, surely it’s not in accordance with the previously communicated case numbers.”

”This will affect our trauma center’s regular work.”

”Our emergency department has its own medical transition planning too, like, in over half a month, we have to treat spleen injuries.”

”Two months later, we need to take over liver injuries… These require time and effort to manage…”

Wu Xiang knew he was passive: ”You set your terms yourselves!~”

Dai Linfang wanted to speak, but Lu Cheng interrupted him: ”I believe Director Wu, after knowing our work tasks, will have his own considerations.”

”You dare to follow my orders completely?” Wu Xiang tilted his head, showing a look of surprise.

”Won’t follow completely.” Lu Cheng replied naturally: ”But I believe in Director Wu’s character, it will be more thorough than both of us!~”

”Compared to you, neither Dr. Dai nor I are professionals, nor do we have administrative experience, and we need to learn from seniors like you.”

Without a mental plan, Lu Cheng’s logic depended on making do with improvisation, as he hadn’t proactively dealt with such matters, so it couldn’t purely follow his ideas.

Director Wu Xiang was close to 60, having struggled in clinical work for a lifetime, certainly having many personal thoughts.

These things, unrelated to technology, are also invaluable!~

Lu Cheng had some leisurely times and took the opportunity to observe the patient’s sorrowful optimism, so he prefers to believe, not only he has done this in clinical practice.

You can point out the lack of technique in seniors, contradict their framework arrangements, offer your opinions.

But having suffered without teacher guidance, Lu Cheng knew not to escape any teachings and frameworks by seniors under any circumstances.

Wu Xiang glanced at Lu Cheng, his eyes full of regret.

Silently stood up and turned away.

Throughout the whole process, he didn’t say a word, and he closed the door quietly.

He didn’t take a sip of tea either.

Regret couldn’t be left behind, nor could it be taken away, it could only be poured away like the untouched tea water...

Dai Linfang squinted at Lu Cheng: ”Why didn’t you set terms? Such a great opportunity?”

Lu Cheng shook his head: ”In unclear situations, the more proactive you are, the more passive you’ll be.”

”I’ve suffered once from this, won’t suffer a second time.”

The failed grad school exam ultimately taught Lu Cheng a profound lesson.
