System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

The glass at home is wide, and the sunlight pours in outside the window.

Unlike the obstructed and cramped light in the emergency room, the side-angled beam of light is bright and dazzling.

After some hesitation in his heart, Lu Cheng spoke honestly: ”Teacher Dong, in this regard, I was inconsiderate.”

”However, I feel that if I considered everything to be perfect because of this, I wouldn’t be able to face it.”

Although Lu Cheng thought that Professor Dong Liumeng’s current state of mind was somewhat distorted, he didn’t know what to say to comfort him.

So he chose not to speak.

And fortunately, Lu Cheng didn’t say anything.

Lu Cheng’s voice was calm and precise, which also pulled back Dong Liumeng’s emotions: ”You absolutely mustn’t do that!”

”I also heard just now that when you were the chief surgeon, you invited the chief trauma physician to be present, which is the best and optimal solution.”

”The higher you go, the purer your intentions must be, and you must not be swayed by the larger environment you are in.”

”Those without pure intentions cannot hold righteous positions. You are still young now and may not understand this, but if you look closely, you will gradually appreciate this truth.”

Should Lu Cheng not perform surgeries he can do just to balance our minds?

Never do that, Dong Liumeng would question his life.

Right now, having money and nothing to do, unable to find a sense of existence, already makes him quite uncomfortable, and if he becomes a ’troublemaker’, he’d want to find a block of tofu to hit his head against.

”Professor Dong, this patient has a destructive injury. You and Professor Qu mentioned before during a conversation that this is part of your future plans, so I didn’t invite you for a consultation first.”

”And during the surgery, I had already arranged with Director Wu from the trauma department to have post-operative management coordinated by the orthopedics department led by Director Wu and the hand surgery nursing department.”

”The post-operative quality inspection work is also assigned to Director Wu.”

”Since you asked, I’m explaining it to you in detail.” Lu Cheng picked up the teacup and took a slow sip after speaking.

A capable, talented, humble, reporting, and thoughtful subordinate is hard to dislike, as long as they are not psychologically abnormal.

”Okay, I understand.”

”This issue is not a small matter. I have to report to Professor Qu in time. If appropriate, I... we.” Dong Liumeng couldn’t bring himself to say it aloud.

He was here for rural support, getting paid for his work.

Now the situation has become that they’re not only here to learn minimally invasive splenic repair but also to shamelessly learn destructive injury limb preservation surgery?

In Dong Liumeng’s mind, two little figures were performing a play—

Little figure B respectfully bowed with a humble voice: ”Student Dong, your class allowance for this month is 20,000 yuan, which has been deposited into your account. Please check it.”

”If there’s no issue, we can continue with the class.”

Little figure A: ”Alright, seeing how sensible you are, I’ll come back for class next month.”

Little figure A: ”It’s only right, thank you for your consideration, Student Dong...”

People live for face, trees live for bark.

Lu Cheng knew he was still young, so he hadn’t thought things through completely, thus he said: ”Teacher Dong, you needn’t have other worries.”

”A trauma center is a team, and a team is made up of members. Any learning has a sequence of mastery.”

”We are all young in the department, so we must ask the two teachers to kindly put in much effort.” Lu Cheng proactively requested.

Lu Cheng, having read many books, understood a truth.

For parents, appropriate requests make them happy, letting them feel you are still their child, they are still parents, and they can continue enjoying the state of being parents for the most part of their lives.

For teachers, appropriate inquiries make them feel you are still their student, they are still the teacher, and they can continue enjoying the state of being the teacher facing you.

Lu Cheng’s adaptability made Dong Liumeng’s mood suddenly change: ”Okay, I’m aware now.”

”Let’s leave it at that for now, I have to call Professor Qu and report.”

After Lu Cheng hung up the phone, he refilled his empty teacup and leisurely took a sip.

Lu Cheng was carefully pondering what Dong Liumeng had mentioned.

The splenic repair surgery was something Lu Cheng had already started before the two professors arrived; the first surgery was done at the State People’s Hospital, and the subsequent ones were scheduled at Long County People’s Hospital.

It was not for showing off.

The destructive injury limb preservation surgery is a pursuit of the trauma surgery department. Lu Cheng adapted, and having heard from Qu Daowen and Professor Dong Liumeng that this is their future research direction, he didn’t find it difficult to inform them.

Others have already told you this is the surgery they plan to learn, do you still call them to ask if they can do it?

...

Lu Cheng had only napped at home for five or six hours, and when he woke up, Mu Nanshu had returned.

The two went out for a meal, then went for a walk to digest, after which Lu Cheng first sent Mu Nanshu home and then drove to the hospital.

Although Professor Dong Liumeng had expressed that he could rotate on duty with Lu Cheng, Lu Cheng couldn’t take those words to heart.

By nature, Professor Dong Liumeng and Professor Qu Daowen’s support is structured the same way as when Professor Chen Song and others went to the countryside.

You cannot treat them as hospital doctors here; this is a matter of attitude, not a question of difference in ability.

At seven in the afternoon, Lu Cheng indeed saw Professor Dong Liumeng in the lounge, discussing the afternoon’s surgery in detail with Chen Fang.

”In summary, the premise of minimally invasive splenic removal is to have absolute hemostatic ability. You must not let the patient continue to bleed heavily during surgery. If you can’t achieve this, don’t choose laparoscopic surgery.”

Lu Cheng pushed open the door, and Professor Dong Liumeng’s voice came to an abrupt stop, his face stiffened for two seconds before relaxing, somewhat awkwardly standing up: ”Dr. Lu.”
