System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

Building 12 at a residential area near Xiangzhou People’s Hospital is a ”dormitory” rented by Xiangzhou People’s Hospital specifically for doctors from higher-level hospitals to aid and help out locally!

The area is not large, it is a seventy-square-meter small three-bedroom, with all appliances available.

To cater to the hobbies of professors and associate professors from higher-level hospitals, the three rooms have undergone some renovations.

One bedroom, one study and tea room, and one operating room.

In the tea room, the water in the kettle is bubbling, steam rises, and at the same time, there’s a beep-beep sound as the power cuts off.

Dong Liumeng slightly lowers his head, while demonstrating his tea art, he says, ”Professor Qu, looking at it now, I feel that my purpose here is not to make extra income, but to attend classes.”

The reality of making extra income is earning money outside of regular duty.

Coming to Xiangzhou, the ’salary’ and ’average performance’ from Provincial People’s Hospital are still being disbursed.

Qu Daowen uses his index finger to tap his large nose, habitually presses and thinks slightly, then shakes his head after five seconds: ”I can’t do it.”

Qu Daowen raises his head and shakes: ”Spleen repair surgery is the professional content I was previously doing, so I can strive to excel in it.”

”Limb preservation surgery is too different from my original specialty, it’s difficult for me to start on that.”

Qu Daowen certainly doesn’t want Dong Liumeng not to learn it too: ”You still have a chance, things have evolved to this point, we can only go with the flow.”

Dong Liumeng continues to fiddle with the tea set. He has practiced tea art and, with the dexterity of a surgeon, he was the best in his tea art class: ”I’m just afraid that once this matter gets out, people will laugh at me.”

”Let them laugh then...”

”When someone like me takes a wrong turn by accident, who wouldn’t face ridicule for it?”

”You think only you and I are laughable?”

”Let me tell you, the director of the hand surgery department at Xiangya Hospital, now that’s truly offering oneself up for nothing!~”

”I heard, previously one of their associate professors went all out to Long County to teach Lu Cheng the Tendon Suturing Technique, hoping to outdo the newly developed Tajima Suturing Technique from Japan.”

”The first result was, using Lu Cheng’s hand, they proved that their suturing technique was pointless.”

”The second result was, after Lu Cheng learned of this, he went and applied for the advanced nerve suturing course at Union Hospital, accidentally hearing the real essence of suturing from top professors there.”

”He adopted the strengths of several tendon suturing techniques and directly created an entirely new set of tendon suturing techniques!~”

”Funny, isn’t it?”

Dong Liumeng didn’t dare respond, his expression slightly tugs at the corners.

It sounds quite funny, but what Director Tan at Xiangya Hospital did, was to ”compete” with the top hand surgery teams from other countries!

At Provincial People’s Hospital, few people dare to have such thoughts.

What if they lose? At least it proves others have the qualifications to be in the game.

Qu Daowen continues: ”If the road was straight, everyone would just floor the accelerator with their feet!~”

”Why do you think you can overtake?”

”Cornering to overtake is the essence of overtaking. Research is the great road of cornering to overtake, that’s true helplessness!~”

”In the face of true achievements, what’s an associate professor like? What am I, a professor?”

”What’s even an academician? As long as the achievements are real, all fame, nicknames, or vanity, even a Nobel laureate has to acknowledge it!~”

Dong Liumeng gradually lets go of his psychological burden, nodding: ”Hmm, I understand, Teacher Qu.”

”It’s my pride acting perversely.”

Qu Daowen sighs lightly: ”This is a ghostly swamp we stumbled into without thorough research.”

”One must accept fate.”

”But while accepting fate, we must also make the right choices for ourselves.”

”Lu Cheng is very strong, not because his operations are intricate or hard to understand, but because of his ability to innovate.”

”The surgical techniques he knows aren’t necessarily many, but for each technique, he learns it with his own mind.”

”Daring to break routine processes after fully understanding the conventional ones, what’s this called? This is ’derailment,’ this kind of risk-taking behavior is not easy to replicate.”

Dong Liumeng says: ”Professor Qu, Lu Cheng’s ability to learn should not be underestimated either.”

”Laparoscopic surgery, how long has he been learning that?” Dong Liumeng voluntarily brings a cup of tea to Qu Daowen.

Qu Daowen comforts: ”Then don’t compare.”

The teacup is a bit hot to handle, and Qu Daowen holds it carefully, taking several blows to cool it before slowly sipping the tea.

Dong Liumeng nods: ”I understand why State People’s Hospital picked Lu Cheng to take charge of the trauma center now.”

”State People’s Hospital is quite ambitious.”

Qu Daowen remains non-committal, slowly setting down the teacup, and says: ”Whether their ambition is big or small depends on how long they can keep someone there.”

”Can someone like that be contained by this hospital?”

”What are they relying on to follow up?”

If research is likened to initiating a team move, then the hospital’s funding, lab qualifications, and the scale of the teaching platform are teammates.

As long as one of them is a novice, this team cannot compete professionally.

Because Lu Cheng’s presence is incompatible with the platform’s scale, inevitably he won’t stay long.

Understanding this, Dong Liumeng asks: ”Then Director Qu, what about you?”

”What are you thinking about? Usually, when I tell you to use your brain more, you don’t do it.”

Qu Daowen scolds: ”Think for a moment, if you were Lu Cheng, would you choose to come to Provincial People’s Hospital?”

”I would!~” Dong Liumeng is loyal to Provincial People’s Hospital because it feeds him.

Leaving Provincial People’s Hospital, whichever hospital he goes to, he merely represents that hospital.

”That’s why you’re not him.” Qu Daowen wishes to knock on Dong Liumeng’s head but holds back.
