System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

”In Lu Cheng’s team, it’s currently still a stage where more work means more rewards, I just haven’t prepared well enough.”

Yao Xin said, ”You don’t need to explain so much to me, these words, you should say to Xiao Lu.”

Zhang Tiesheng cautiously said, ”Better to focus on the work first.”

”Since Lu Cheng came to Xiangzhou People’s Hospital, he hasn’t added any staff to the team, which shows that Lu Cheng isn’t someone who uses research projects to curry favor.”

”Following such a person won’t be wrong. First, focus on doing the work honestly.”

”If you want me to, first relieve his worries, my demands aren’t that high...”

...

April 1st, Friday, the twenty-third of the second lunar month.

Suitable for weddings, travel, house cleaning, moving, moving into a new house!

The Trauma Center in the Emergency Department officially launched, but no hospital leaders came for the ribbon-cutting that day, as there had been one before, and having another would be somewhat inappropriate.

Although there was no ribbon-cutting ceremony, Vice President Yao Xin and Emergency Department Director Huang Haibo symbolically held a small ceremony in the Emergency Department doctor’s office.

The main purposes were two-fold: first, to confirm Lu Cheng and Chen Fang’s appointment from Emergency Surgery to the Trauma Center, and second, to assign tasks for the Emergency Trauma Center.

Yao Xin read from his notes: ”The establishment of our hospital’s Trauma Center is related to the hospital’s development plan, the overall medical level of the Emergency Department, and the safety of millions in the State, thus it’s a major and important issue.”

”Currently, our hospital’s Trauma Center at its initial stage will execute emergency tasks primarily involving wound cleaning, fracture reduction, joint reduction, arterial injuries, nerve injuries, and other trauma cases.”

”In the future, our hospital’s Trauma Center will strive to achieve the treatment of complex cases like organ damage, hematoma injuries, to open a high-quality green channel for patients’ traumatic emergencies.”

”This reconstruction of the Trauma Center will rotate between our hospital’s two attending physicians, Lu Cheng and Chen Fang, taking turns on secondary duty, with Dai Linfang, Du Hua’an, Liu Nongqiu, Zhang Zixu, and He Dongsheng on primary duty. Among them, Lu Cheng will be the actual leader of the Trauma Center and promoted to Deputy Director of the Emergency Department.”

”We must greatly thank the Provincial People’s Hospital for their strong support in this Trauma Center reconstruction, not only providing material assistance but also letting Professors Qu Daowen and Dong Liumeng personally oversee to guide and assist our hospital’s Trauma Center construction.”

”Everyone, let’s give the warmest applause to welcome these two professors...”

Amid thunderous applause, Professors Qu Daowen and Dong Liumeng walked in from outside the office and were later invited by Huang Haibo to the seats that had been prepared.

After the applause stopped, Yao Xin invited Professor Qu Daowen to speak.

Professor Qu Daowen, a professor and chief physician, easily handled such occasions: ”Thank you everyone for the applause. Actually, I am quite familiar with and have feelings for Xiangzhou, because my wife’s family home is in Ji City.”

”I go to Ji City many times every year, so when the hospital leadership announced sending someone to Xiangzhou, I thought, hey, as half a Xiangzhou person, I’m just right for this.”

Yao Xin quickly smiled and said, ”Professor Qu, you’re one of us in Xiangzhou, aren’t you? How could you be only half?”

Qu Daowen didn’t mind such flattery, continuing, ”A narrow view of the Trauma Center treats trauma-related cases, the actual Trauma Center is to open a green channel for rapid treatment through multidisciplinary collaboration.”

”Of course, the latter is something all hospitals are chasing, but currently, all hospital trauma centers are actually not mature enough.”

”So, the colleagues present don’t need to feel too pressured, actually the tasks in the Trauma Center are purer than those in the Emergency Department.”

”Of course, the tasks upon admissions in the Trauma Center may be more urgent than those in the rescue room and need to be handled carefully and seriously.”

”You are the main force here, while Xiao Dong and I are just here to take a tour and sample the local specialties.”

”Finally, I wish the Trauma Center smooth development.”

Qu Daowen didn’t deliver any lofty words, as a clinical doctor, he couldn’t use morality or ideology to bind other clinical doctors.

Yao Xin ended on behalf of the hospital, and Huang Haibo also expressed his support for the normal operation of the Trauma Center, thus the simple restart ceremony came to an end.

The Emergency Department still had a lot of work, with wards and the rescue room, and after the meeting disbanded, everyone went about their business separately.

Lu Cheng directly led his team from the Emergency Department’s large doctor’s office to the Trauma Center’s small office.

The Trauma Center is a small area designated from the Emergency Department, equipped simply, with an office, a large single room similar to a rescue room with three beds lined up inside, an operating room, and no resting area.

Inside the office are three network-connected computers and a small oval-shaped office table.

After entering with his team, Lu Cheng said, ”Brothers, during the meal days ago, we got to know each other, but Professors Qu and Dong can’t call out our names yet.”

”These two teachers are the stabilizing force of our Trauma Center’s launch. I’ll take the lead to report to the two teachers first, so when they need assistance, they can call us out.”

”Professor Qu, Professor Dong, I’m Lu Cheng.”

Chen Fang, Dai Linfang, and others followed suit.

Du Hua’an, with his broad physique and full beard, stood and bowed, ”Professors, Director Lu, Director Dai, I’m Du Hua’an, an orthopedic master’s graduate from Xiangnan College. I graduated last year, but this is my first job.”

”I hope the teachers will guide me in the future.”

Hospital-appointed Liu Nongqiu, Zhang Zixu, and labor-dispatched He Dongsheng are all bachelor’s degree holders and recent graduates or have been working at smaller hospitals for about a year, having just arrived as new doctors.

Seeing this setup, although Professors Qu Daowen and Dong Liumeng had concerns, they didn’t criticize it.

Xiangzhou is a remote area, so having such a configuration for the Trauma Center’s initial phase is already considered high-end.

If it were in a county, even specialized students might be brought in!

After brief self-introductions, Lu Cheng smiled and said, ”We’re all young people, so it’s easier to communicate, don’t need to hide anything when interacting.”

”Of course, while the format is flexible, the rules must be followed.”

”The Trauma Center’s roster is out; no swapping shifts except in special cases. If shift swaps are necessary, besides extremely urgent situations, report a week in advance.”

”Any shift swaps must be reported to me or Dr. Chen Fang, and formally agreed upon by both parties digitally in the group.”

”Additionally, post the altered roster in the group afterward.”

”These are the requirements for duty rotations.”

”Secondly, on work requirements: as the Trauma Center is initially established, the hospital’s demands aren’t high, but we must adopt a principle—consult more.”

”Our Trauma Center can directly contact the Medical Department, overall duty manager.”

”Our Trauma Center can directly contact secondary shifts of specific disciplines; if we encounter a case we can’t handle, report immediately to our secondary shifts and request specialty consultations.”

”If the specialty doctors haven’t arrived at the Trauma Center within 20 minutes from our emergency consultation calls, immediately call the overall duty manager to urge. If it’s 30 minutes with no arrival, call the Medical Department to urge.”

”Additionally, on nursing personnel: since our Trauma Center’s patient count and cases are not fixed, the supplies must be inspected every four hours, continually watch for shortages.”

”Absolutely avoid running short on equipment or supplies.”

”Our Trauma Center’s currently standard equipment includes emergency ultrasound devices, respirators, ECG monitors, etc.”

”These devices need timely inspections by nursing staff; if there’s an issue, report to the Equipment or Logistics Department any time within 24 hours for repair or request replacements promptly.”

”The equipment supply priority for our Trauma Center is equal to the ICU, rescue room, and operating room, as per the hospital’s authority.”

”Our Trauma Center...” Lu Cheng, never having been a leader before, could only imitate leadership styles to convene a rather lengthy meeting.
