System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

”Lu Cheng called the family, and of course the parents agreed to prioritize saving the life, but the child was in a state of panic and despair!”

”If she had gone into shock upon arrival, there would have been no such concerns,” Dai Linfang explained.

Chen Fang’s eyes rolled: ”Energetic little sister, huh?”

Dai Linfang gently shook his head: ”Not sure how to conclude, but it was a man who brought her in.”

...

In the operating room, the anesthesiologist was quickly administering shock treatment while anesthetizing.

After Lu Cheng and Professor Qu Daowen swiftly established the laparoscopic access, they immediately opened the abdominal cavity.

The laparoscope is a tool; it can perform hemostasis, wound cleaning, incision, and other tasks that a surgeon can also accomplish with conventional scalpels and sutures.

The difficulty is multiple times, even tens of times more, compared to picking up food with hands and using chopsticks!

Lu Cheng, being relatively young and having sharp vision and swift hands, revealed the spleen and immediately located the splenic artery and vein; upon clamping them, the bleeding on the spleen surface instantly reduced.

In due course, two irregular longitudinal cuts on the spleen surface were exposed before them.

”Let’s first clear out the blood clots. This child is really reckless,” Qu Daowen’s tone was a bit disappointed.

If she had allowed Lu Cheng to perform open surgery, they might have been able to save the spleen.

He rarely encountered someone who prioritizes beauty over life!

”Anesthesiologist, continue monitoring the vital signs. The intra-abdominal bleeding of this patient is relatively simple.”

”We haven’t found other bleeding points. If the vital signs remain unstable, we may need to consider retroperitoneal or pelvic retroperitoneal active bleeding,” Lu Cheng first communicated with the anesthesiologist.

The anesthesiologist was incredibly busy: ”Contact the blood bank, circulate, circulate, circulate...”

”Teacher Chu, I’m going to grab the supplies!” The circulating nurse hurriedly triggered the automatic sensor to close the door.

The anesthesiologist was very experienced: ”Call the blood bank.”

”With such minor cuts, the blood pressure is still so low. She’s been delayed outside for some time.”

The circulating nurse went to the wall-mounted phone in the operating room and dialed.

Lu Cheng and Professor Qu Daowen carefully cleared the blood clots; the pace was not fast.

But Qu Daowen could tell that the areas Lu Cheng swept over were meticulously handled.

The Wound Cleaning Skill is all about details, the skill level is judged based on the tidiness of those details.

”There shouldn’t be any hidden arterial damage under the blood clots, otherwise, the field wouldn’t be so clean…”

If Lu Cheng had started with laparoscopy and developed his current skill, Qu Daowen wouldn’t find it surprising, but he knew Lu Cheng was new to laparoscopic surgery.

Lu Cheng looked at the laparoscopic visual panel, while Qu Daowen looked at Lu Cheng himself, saying fondly: ”Did you suddenly get possessed lately?”

”Huh? Teacher Qu, what did you say?” Lu Cheng didn’t understand Qu Daowen’s meaning and seriously turned his head to listen to the reprimand.

After all, surgery is not a joke.

Seeing Lu Cheng pause his operation, Qu Daowen immediately said: ”It’s nothing, you continue.”

Looking up, the operating room ceiling remained the same.

Looking up at the shadowless lamp, Qu Daowen was quite skeptical of life.

It’s been less than a month.

Lu Cheng’s laparoscopic skills were about to reach a new level; even though he had surgical skills, his initial operations were not clumsy but typical of a beginner.

But now?

Lu Cheng’s proficiency hardly showed a trace of a beginner, only slightly less skilled than himself.

How could Qu Daowen bear Lu Cheng’s skill level improvement at two points a day?

At a loss, Qu Daowen thought Lu Cheng should complete the laparoscopic splenectomy quite well.

Patiently waiting for Lu Cheng to finish clearing the blood clots, Lu Cheng suddenly said, ”Teacher Qu, hemostasis is satisfactory now. Although the cuts are irregular, they are still within controllable range.”

”Should we try stitching it under the scope?”

Qu Daowen: ”???”

”Are you crazy?”

Qu Daowen’s eyes widened, gaze sharp; if not on the operating table, he would have immediately checked if Lu Cheng had gone mad.

”It’s still early, and you’re here. Even if there’s an accident, we would still have time for a splenectomy.” Lu Cheng’s voice was precise.

Qu Daowen remained silent.

Lu Cheng waited eagerly, eyes sincere.

After three whole minutes, the anesthesiologist said: ”The patient’s blood pressure has risen a bit, seems to be just splenic rupture and bleeding.”

”Currently, the breathing rhythm is stable, and the heart rate has also decreased.”

Only then did Qu Daowen say: ”If you want to try, you can, but my suggestion is not to complicate matters.”

”What if?”

”Forget it, no what if.”

”Circulating nurse, how old is this girl this year?”

”Sixteen, in three months,” the circulating nurse replied.

”Still a child...” Qu Daowen sighed.

It must be admitted that domestically, as long as the children aren’t terribly spoiled or overly excessive, the tolerance and care for them remain mainstream.

”Bring two sutures,” Lu Cheng told the circulating nurse.

With the sutures, Lu Cheng used the laparoscopic device to send them into the laparoscopic needle holder, securing them steadily.

Professor Qu Daowen wasn’t idle either, slightly adjusting the view of the lens, trying to provide Lu Cheng with operative space.

”Try two stitches first. If it’s too difficult to operate, we’ll switch to open surgery.”

”I’ll go out and talk to her parents. She’s a minor, her parents making decisions is legally permissible,” Qu Daowen said.

Lu Cheng nodded, loosened his hands and rubbed them, found his bearings, and started to operate...

Holding a regular needle holder and a laparoscopic needle holder feels like two different tools, with a difference greater than that between forks and chopsticks, like the ’texture’ difference between bananas and cucumbers.

Of course, although not entirely used to it, Lu Cheng had practiced privately, and currently, Lu Cheng’s laparoscopic tool skill level is (Specialization 20/20)!

Under the laparoscopic view, Lu Cheng’s stitching technique was still steady, not as graceful as his open surgeries, but still impressive.

In just over forty seconds, Lu Cheng completed one stitch.

After Professor Qu Daowen cut the thread, Lu Cheng was not hurried to perform another stitch, instead, he withdrew the needle holder and suture, then used tweezers to carefully examine the splenic tear, checking the stitching effect!

The laparoscope offers a minimally invasive view, though different from the open view, the evaluation criteria remain the same.

After examining for half a minute more, Lu Cheng smiled: ”The quality is satisfactory.”

Qu Daowen remained silent, his gaze dim, pupils slightly dilated, as if atropinized.

When Lu Cheng continued stitching, Professor Qu Daowen took a deep breath: ”Xiao Lu, you are truly something else!~”

”No wonder there are rumors in the operating room, Xiangya and Xiangya Second Hospital don’t even dare to consult your hospital’s general surgery.”

”I thought it was a joke, only to realize I am the joke.”

Qu Daowen’s words were a bit tongue-tied, enunciated unclearly, but his meaning was precise enough.

”Teacher Qu, I’ll continue,” Lu Cheng didn’t explain further, though such praise made him feel invigorated.

Praise goes a long way, no matter how often.

Splenic repair surgery under laparoscopy, especially for irregular cuts and splenic contusions, might not be the world’s first, but it’s one of the rare few.

”Hmm, take your time, no rush.”

”Control... you need to judge...”

”I... hiss...” Seeing Lu Cheng perform the second stitch, Qu Daowen couldn’t help but draw a sharp breath again.

”Indeed, I guessed this day would come.” Qu Daowen muttered to himself.

With Lu Cheng’s talent, ’surpassing the master,’ establishing his own name, was a matter of time.

Professors from Xiangya Hospital and Xiangya Second Hospital who knew Lu Cheng all admitted this fact, who was Qu Daowen to reject it?

However, it was just that this day had come too soon.

Time slowly passed, after the blood arrived from the bank, the anesthesiologist also came to the operating table, watching the laparoscopic view.

However, without a surgical background, he couldn’t discern the details or intricacies, merely seeing Professor Qu Daowen, from the Provincial People’s Hospital, repeatedly drawing sharp breaths, came over to check what was happening.

A layperson could only understand the surface excitement, seeing deeper would no longer classify them as outsiders.

But, truth be told, Lu Cheng’s operation couldn’t reach show-level performance.

Not flashy, but practical.

An hour later, the operation concluded, and Lu Cheng was dismantling the laparoscope and placing the drainage tube.

Qu Daowen was still dazed, daydreaming, with a dumbfounded look, as if facing a great shock…

”Should I become a student? If I learned this skill and brought it back, could I make a grand statement?”
