System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

Spring sun warms gently, as the setting sun dips in the west. The light is clear and dust-free.

The emergency department is located on the first floor, and the shadows of the branches outside the window sway distinctly, much like Wu Xiang’s unsettled state of mind at this moment, unable to revert to an ancient calm.

Dai Linfang went to accompany the patient, and Lu Cheng, who came along, had already changed into casual clothes. Wu Xiang’s clothes were still in the surgical building’s changing room, wearing scrubs that looked dry and cool.

The spring breeze was slightly cold, blowing abruptly, causing a small amount of goosebumps to rise up like old skin. Wu Xiang’s gaze was reserved: ”Lu Cheng, you called me today for more than just this surgery, right?”

”Or rather, you’re certainly not trying to prove anything to me, to mock my lack of discernment.” Wu Xiang’s wording was precise.

Lu Cheng naturally replied with a calm expression: ”Doctor Liang Shuhao from the esteemed guest wanted me to perform an amputation surgery.”

”After my initial examination, I realized, based on my knowledge, that there was a possibility of limb preservation. To avoid many misunderstandings, I immediately reported it to you, Director Wu.”

”I’ve long said that it’s a pity that the trauma department of Hezhou People’s Hospital had no connection with me.”

Looking at Lu Cheng’s sincere expression, Wu Xiang sighed softly: ”Actually, this regret can be remedied, but you already don’t need this platform.”

”If I join in now, it would seem like I’m trying to climb higher.”

Wu Xiang couldn’t fully understand what Lu Cheng’s intentions were.

However, when the State People’s Hospital held a multidisciplinary consultation, Professor Chen Song from Xiangya Second Hospital mentioned Lu Cheng’s name and wanted to bring Lu Cheng from Long County People’s Hospital to the operating room.

This alone suggests an inexplicable relationship between Lu Cheng and the emergency department at Xiangya Second Hospital.

Specifically what kind of relationship, Wu Xiang never tried to unravel, and he knew it was meaningless to do so now.

In fact, Wu Xiang did not even understand why Lu Cheng was wandering to the State People’s Hospital at first.

When chatting with others occasionally, someone from general surgery mentioned that several teaching hospitals were entangled with Lu Cheng, and everything was beyond what the State People’s Hospital could intervene in.

”Director Wu, let’s not talk about the past anymore, so much time has passed, and regrets are just regrets, let them be.”

”Now, it’s a fortuitous encounter that I have the opportunity to meet you, Director Wu. After previous interactions, I’m even more grateful for your magnanimity and open-heartedness.” Lu Cheng responded.

Wu Xiang circled around Lu Cheng with a tut-tut sound: ”After being beaten down and refined, although you seem a bit of a novice, you’ve reached a semi-mature state.”

”Mainly, you can think through problems with your brain. No wonder Dean Yao wants to support you.”

”Tell me then, how do you want this old man to help you?”

Suddenly, Lu Cheng shook his head: ”No, Director Wu, I just want your support in doing this surgery.”

”In the past two days, I’ve also asked other brothers and colleagues in the trauma department. Our hospital currently has no plans to research limb preservation surgery for mutilation injuries, so I’m not delaying anything.”

Wu Xiang was instantly surprised, his tone contemplative: ”You’re not here to make a request?”

”Our hospital’s trauma department’s amputation rate has always been high, and the hospital has set tasks for me!~”

Wu Xiang first opened himself up, only in this way could he know Lu Cheng’s real thoughts.

The incidence of final treatments such as amputation and death is always a blade hanging over many directors.

It can be said to be the impermanence of medicine. Try staying this impermanent without seeking progress?

If there’s any young fool trying to break through at this baseline, you old man would be rolled down by the leadership.

The country has always emphasized medical development. If no one is available to use, when everyone is mediocre, they can serve as seasonings for each other.

However, leaders and superiors are not foolish. If they encounter a good dish, see if they know how to eat and whether they can eat well.

If someone raises the average level of Xiangzhou People’s Hospital to the top hospital in the district, even the dean position of Xiangzhou People’s Hospital can be given to you to play with.

It’s the 21st century; leaders are not fools, they certainly know what hard currency is, though such hard currency rarely circulates on the market.

”Director Wu, I have no thoughts.” Lu Cheng shook his head, his expression honest.

”You have no thoughts?”

”That would be odd. Aren’t you taking this opportunity to let me support you when you’re promoted?” Wu Xiang continued to tear open the bargaining chip.

It had to be torn open.

As a chief physician of trauma surgery, and formerly an administrative director of the trauma department, he had already achieved a small scale of ’economic freedom’!

In the absence of money, what he sought was to leave something behind.

Be it a name or contribution, in any case, it was to genuinely do something for his hometown.

This decision was evident from Wu Xiang’s choice not to jump to a provincial-level hospital over a decade ago, settling for security.

Of course, Wu Xiang was getting old, and it would be difficult to have further breakthroughs in this life. He had passed on the hope and burden to the people below for some time.

However, due to different positions, these people were either thinking of ”achieving small-scale wealth freedom” or directly lying flat.

There were too few people available.

Lu Cheng was slightly puzzled: ”No, Director Wu, I never thought of that.”

Wu Xiang chuckled softly: ”You never thought of that? Aren’t you afraid I’d refuse you for calling me?”

”Without dragging me into the water, how could I support you?”

Lu Cheng calmly replied: ”Just do it directly. Apply through the hospital procedures.”

”The most official certification of limb preservation surgery for mutilation injuries is Zhongnan Hospital. I also have some familiar teachers there, though perhaps not greatly acquainted.”
