Super Gene Hunting Ground

Chapter 99: Chapter 99 Framing (Part 4)

Yang Xiao nodded and said:

”All of you have got some money. Even if it’s the cheapest equipment, buy whatever you can. If you’ve got extra money, get something better. Just one more attribute point might save your life in a critical moment.”

Chen Fei laughed and said:

”We’ve already synthesized the Genetic Potion, and we don’t have many Crystal Coins left.”

Yang Xiao finally decided to buy an agility attribute bracelet to replace the current strength attribute bracelet. Unfortunately, a bracelet can only be worn one at a time, you can’t wear two simultaneously.

Gritting his teeth, he bought a pair of Wind-controlling Boots with a +3% movement speed.

Buying those Wind-controlling Boots genuinely pained him. Just a 1% increase in movement speed required paying another 100 Crystal Coins.

Yang Xiao’s four Genetic Attributes were as follows:

Strength 8, Agility 9, Defense 5, Wisdom 5.

He paired Defensive Armor with +4 defense, Sparrow Bow with +3 Agility, +5% damage, bracelet with +2 Agility, and Wind-controlling Boots with +3% movement speed.

This combination changed Yang Xiao’s Genetic Attributes for ranged attacks with the Sparrow Bow to:

Strength 8, Agility 14, Defense 9, Wisdom 5.

In terms of attack damage, level-two Feathered Arrows could shoot three Arrow Shadows at once, and the Sparrow Bow added +5% damage.

The attack range was about 40 meters.

Yang Xiao bought a pair of Wind-controlling Boots and a strength attribute bracelet for Long Yongjun. Equipped with the Dog Blood Blade, Long Yongjun’s strength increased to 11 points. Combined with the Dog Blood Blade Technique, Long Yongjun would become a formidable melee warrior.

Yang Xiao also spent 200 Crystal Coins to buy twenty Small Blood Pills for urgent use.

Qin Yu and the other two each bought jewelry suitable for themselves. After adjustments, everyone’s combat power increased significantly.

Not only Yang Xiao’s group of five, but most people, including Xiao Zhe, Zhao Gang, Huang Wen, and Feifei, gained a lot of Genetic Fragments through group hunting of Mutated Creatures in the past few days. Although the number distributed to each person was limited, they were still able to equip basic equipment and jewelry, especially the girls, who could wear both hairpins and bracelets, greatly enhancing their combat capabilities.

The speed of Genetic Evolution at Kongming Academy significantly increased.

At lunchtime, Xiao Zhe told Yang Xiao some good news.

”We discovered a large potato plantation about five kilometers from here in a valley. There are at least twenty to thirty acres with a lot of potatoes. In other words, we won’t lack food for the entire winter.”

”Well, don’t do it all at once. First, take some people from the logistics team to dig out a part. Remember, assign a dedicated team to protect them. The mutated creatures outside are getting more and more dangerous, and the logistics team can’t keep up anymore.”

”We don’t lack food now, but there’s still a problem with the living space. It’s not good to live on the playground in winter. It’s even worse if it rains, and if it snows, it will be hard to endure. Besides, there aren’t enough tents, and boys and girls are mixed together, which is inconvenient for many girls.”

Huang Wen said.

”Can we send people to clean out the school’s administrative building, assign someone to ensure security, so everyone can move inside? That building has seven floors, many rooms, and toilets. The living conditions are much better than here.”

Zhao Gang suggested.

Xiao Zhe hesitated for a moment and said:

”The main worry is the night when everyone’s asleep. Various mutated insects, spiders, and ants crawling into the building pose an undefendable threat, and deaths could occur. Now, these mutated mosquitoes don’t even hibernate in winter. A careless bite from one can suck out half a pound of blood!”

”How many Genetic Fragments can we collect daily now? Is it possible to gather 100,000 Genetic Fragments before winter?”

”Even if we collect all the 100,000 Genetic Fragments, we should prioritize using them on Genetic Evolution. Otherwise, even if we relocate the Genetic Store near the office building, others will seize it, turning it into someone else’s base. That would be like making wedding clothes for someone else.”

...

Yang Xiao chatted with Huang Wen, Xiao Zhe, and Zhao Gang for a while but reached no conclusion. They finally decided to take each step as it comes. Zhao Gang led the logistics team to clean the office building as preparation for the future.

After lunch, Yang Xiao took Long Yongjun, Chen Fei, Qin Yu, and Deng Xiao back into the mountains.

”This time’s main goal is to enhance everyone’s skills. Long Yongjun will use the Dog Blood Blade Technique throughout. The more he uses it, the more proficient the skill becomes, and the faster it upgrades. Chen Fei, Qin Yu, and Deng Xiao are the same; everyone should improve their skills through combat.”

The five, having enhanced their equipment in the morning, found hunting Mutated Creatures much easier, especially Long Yongjun, who was like a War God, charging headfirst, slashing and hacking fearlessly.

The Dog Blood Blade paired with the Dog Blood Blade Technique was indeed mighty.

By evening, Yang Xiao’s Feathered Arrows had risen to level 3, Long Yongjun’s Dog Blood Blade Technique to level 2, Chen Fei’s Ice Ball to level 3, and Qin Yu and Deng Xiao’s flying Skills and Feathered Arrows had also smoothly upgraded.

...

After being injured, Kong Tianqing finally returned to Xianan University after two difficult days of walking.

When he appeared, bloodied and in despair, in front of Xia Luo, the student union president at Xianan University, he startled everyone.

”Kong Tianqing, what happened to you? Weren’t you leading a team to hunt a near-enhanced gene stage mutated dog? Why do you look like this? Where are the others?”

”Do you have any Small Blood Pills? Quickly, give me one.”

Kong Tianqing said weakly.

Xia Luo gave Zhou Qiang a look, and Zhou Qiang took out a porcelain bottle, pouring out a Small Blood Pill and handing it to Kong Tianqing.

Kong Tianqing immediately shoved it into his mouth and swallowed it.

”Water, water!”

Someone handed Kong Tianqing a cup of water, and he drank it all in one gulp, then grabbed the water jug outright and drank it fiercely.

These past two days, while walking through the mountains, he ate meat from Mutated Creatures when hungry. But finding water was difficult; he could only drink the blood of the creatures. Yet blood did not quench his thirst; the more he drank, the thirstier he became.

Everyone watched Kong Tianqing’s pitiful state, not knowing what had happened to him, so they patiently waited for him to finish drinking.

The Small Blood Pill had magical effects, and Kong Tianqing’s wounds healed rapidly, soon recovering about seventy to eighty percent.

Kong Tianqing sighed deeply before loudly declaring:

”I swear I won’t be human if I don’t kill all those at Kongming Academy!”

Everyone was taken aback.

”Kongming Academy?”

”Brother Qing, did you encounter people from Kongming Academy? How is that possible? Weren’t you chasing that mutated dog around Biyun Mountain? How could anyone from Kongming Academy have the skill to reach the back of Biyun Mountain?”

....

Kong Tianqing glanced around at everyone and said:

”We pursued that mutated dog through unknown distances, traversing mountains and ridges with great effort, finally capturing the dog.

Little did we expect the mutated dog to suddenly evolve to the Enhanced Gene Stage, break free from its chains, and attack us. After a tough battle, we managed to kill the enhanced gene mutated dog.

But then a group of people from Kongming Academy emerged from the mountains, taking advantage of our wounds and exhaustion to massacre us, seizing our possessions. Only I barely escaped; the others were all killed by them.

I did manage to grab one of the three precious pieces of equipment that burst from the mutated dog...”

Kong Tianqing recounted his ordeal, blaming Yang Xiao and his companions for the deaths of his entire team.
