Super Gene Hunting Ground

Chapter 86: Chapter 86 New Team Member

Long Yongjun was tall, with Strength and Agility attributes already reaching 4 points. He was clad in ordinary cloth armor, with a round face, and a somewhat honest appearance.

Upon hearing that Boss Yang Xiao was looking for him, he became quite excited.

”B...Boss, did you call for me?”

Yang Xiao nodded, finding Long Yongjun’s honest look pleasing, and said:

”Demonstrate your Werewolf Beast Soul.”

”Okay.”

Long Yongjun immediately transformed, turning into a majestic 2-meter-high Werewolf.

”Wolf Claw Critical Strike!”

Long Yongjun shouted and clawed at a large stone near the camp.

With a swift flash of the wolf claw shadow, the stone on the ground shattered into several pieces with a booming sound.

That stone was something Feifei and others had moved from the ruins, used as a weight to stabilize the temporary tent.

Wolf Claw Critical Strike is an innate skill of the Werewolf, dealing twice the damage at level 1. Long Yongjun had just reached the first level of Wolf Claw Critical Strike.

Feifei glared at Long Yongjun and said:

”That stone was something I managed to bring back, weighing dozens of pounds, used to press down the tent, and now you’ve broken it. You’ll have to bring me a new stone later.”

Long Yongjun gave a simple laugh and said:

”Sister Feifei, I’ll bring you a new stone later, and I guarantee it will be bigger and heavier than this one.”

”What did you call me? Sister Feifei? Where am I fat? Where am I old? Why did you call me sister? Why not call me auntie?”

Long Yongjun: ”...”

Huang Wen and the others covered their mouths, laughing secretly.

Yang Xiao quickly intervened:

”Alright, don’t bully him just because he’s honest. You come over tomorrow morning and join our team to go up the mountain.”

Hearing that he could team up with Boss Yang Xiao, Long Yongjun jumped for joy.

”Yes.”

Long Yongjun left happily, and Yang Xiao went to his private tent to rest.

After a while, Long Yongjun dragged over a cement beam weighing hundreds of pounds and placed it outside the camp.

”Sister Feifei, I brought you a new stone. Come and see if it’s big enough, thick enough, and heavy enough? If not, I’ll bring another one.”

Feifei and others came out of the tent and couldn’t stop laughing.

Huang Wen looked at Long Yongjun’s honest face, quickly waved her hand, and said:

”Alright, you can go back to rest now.”

Long Yongjun acknowledged, turned, and left.

...

Early the next morning, Long Yongjun was waiting outside Yang Xiao’s tent, even as Yang Xiao was still sleeping.

Due to the limited number of tents, gender separation wasn’t fully implemented yet. Yang Xiao still slept in the same tent as Huang Wen and others, with a piece of rag separating his space.

Huang Wen and others got up, stepped out, and saw Long Yongjun standing outside, paused, and laughed:

”When did you arrive?”

”Over half an hour ago.”

Actually, Long Yongjun arrived at least an hour earlier.

As everyone gradually got up, Long Yongjun immediately nodded and greeted Feifei:

”Morning, Sister Feifei.”

Feifei glared with almond-shaped eyes, ”In the future, just call me sister, skip the first word.”

Qin Yu and the others burst into laughter, with Feifei herself giggling.

Nowadays, there are dedicated logistics staff responsible for daily meals, so Yang Xiao and the others don’t need to cook.

To their surprise, when Yang Xiao and others went to have breakfast, they found porridge, buns, and roasted meat from various Mutated Creatures.

Everyone was astonished.

Xiao Zhe said to Yang Xiao:

”These logistics folks are amazing. They turned the ruin of the school’s third cafeteria upside down and found hundreds of bags of flour and rice.”

The third cafeteria once served as Kongming Academy’s bakery, located on the ground floor of a seven-story building. After collapsing, it was difficult to find things on the lower floors due to the debris.

Currently, there are four to five hundred people in the logistics team, all of whom have gone through genetic mutation. Although they don’t have Beast Souls, their strength is many times greater than before, and with no need to hunt Mutated Creatures outside, they naturally look for work to justify themselves, or else they’d feel embarrassed about eating for free.

Yang Xiao hadn’t had buns in a long time, and he consumed three large buns and drank two bowls of porridge in one go.

Xiao Zhe spoke while eating:

”I had the logistics team visit nearby rural areas; although people are gone, their vegetable gardens remain, with vegetables growing well. We’ll have vegetables for dinner.”

Yang Xiao, astonished, gave Xiao Zhe a look and said:

”Great. I’ve known you’re an excellent managerial hand for the academy. Really good. Actually, on a long-term basis, we could develop vegetable gardens on the hillside near the academy, planting our vegetables, making it easier to eat greens later.”

”Good idea. I’ll arrange for some logistics team members to start clearing land near the academy today.”

After breakfast, Yang Xiao directed Chen Fei, Qin Yu, Deng Xiao, and Long Yongjun to bring some roasted meat and buns as provisions.

Yang Xiao led the four along the mountain trail behind the campus to the pond at the mountain’s base.

”Boss, where are we headed?”

Chen Fei asked.

”From now on, we’re heading into the forest to hunt Mutated Creatures. Our current target is Genetic Fragments. Whether mutated ants, mosquitoes, birds, various mutated insects, or more, they’re all our prey. Qin Yu and Deng Xiao will take point in the air, Long Yongjun and I will lead on the ground, Chen Fei will follow behind me. Understand?”

”Understood!”

All four were highly enthusiastic.

Yang Xiao pointed at the woods beside him and led the way into the forest. Long Yongjun howled, transformed into a Werewolf, and jumped in front of Yang Xiao.

Qin Yu and Deng Xiao transformed into birds and flew over the tree tops, while Chen Fei followed closely behind.

The forest mainly held various mutated ants and insects. Yang Xiao and others had walked only five or six meters before encountering a swarm of ants, mutated to the size of basketballs, charging at them with mandibles open.

Long Yongjun swung his claws, rushed forward, and instantly killed two, while Yang Xiao wielded the Golden Bee Sword, striking two ants with each sword swing.

Chen Fei launched an Ice Ball at the ant swarm, immediately exploding and freezing dozens of ants. She continuously used Ice Balls to freeze all the ants surrounding Yang Xiao and Long Yongjun, although the freezing effect lasted only 3 seconds, it was a great help to them.

Yang Xiao and Long Yongjun struck repeatedly, quickly dealing with dozens of mutated ants.

From the air, Qin Yu and Deng Xiao scouted and cleared the dense fog, paving new battlegrounds while ensuring no large Fierce Beasts were within a thousand meters.

In less than half an hour, more than a hundred giant mutated ants were slain by Yang Xiao and his companions. Chen Fei collected over 40 Genetic Fragments, including a Genetic Disk from the ant king and a golden ant short sword, which added +3 Strength.

In the Genetic Store, weapons with +3 Strength cost at least 100 Crystal Coins, but selling to the Genetic Store would only yield 50 Crystal Coins.

Yang Xiao tossed the short sword to Long Yongjun, who surprisingly didn’t own any decent weapons yet.

”Boss, is this for me?”

Long Yongjun gazed at Yang Xiao incredulously as he caught the short sword.

”Of course, it’s just a short sword. You’ll use it for close combat, at least it adds +3 Strength.”

”Thank you, Boss!”

Long Yongjun exclaimed excitedly.

Chen Fei, nearby, laughed:

”This short sword is worth 100 Crystal Coins, you’d better work hard.”

”Yes, Sister Chen Fei.”

The three smiled and continued their exploration.

Long Yongjun grew fiercer, transforming into a Werewolf and wielding the golden short sword, wreaking havoc on various Mutated Creatures along the way.

Qin Yu and Deng Xiao would occasionally fly down to join the battle, shooting Feathered Arrows.

By midday, Yang Xiao’s Golden Bee Swordsmanship advanced from level one to level two, now striking with three sword shadows per thrust, tripling the attack damage.

Long Yongjun’s Wolf Claw Critical Strike had also leveled up to level 2.

Chen Fei’s Ice Ball reached level two, allowing her to shoot two Ice Balls simultaneously, doubling the attack power.

This demonstrated the benefits of team combat.
