Super Gene Hunting Ground

Chapter 81: Chapter 81 Mixed Combat Team

Zhou Qiang was a bit confused, looking at Yang Xiao.

”Who told you my Feather Arrow Skill is only level one? Take your people and leave.”

Zhou Qiang reached out and grasped the feathered arrow, pulling it out directly. The arrow hadn’t penetrated deeply, so the injury wasn’t severe.

”Until we meet again, I will remember this arrow,” Zhou Qiang said resentfully.

”Whatever,” Yang Xiao replied coldly.

Zhou Qiang glanced again at Deng Xiao and Qin Yu in the distance and said:

”Deng Xiao, come with me and Qin Yu to Xianan University. Your cousin Xia Luo is waiting for you.”

Deng Xiao smiled slightly and said:

”Zhou Qiang, thank you for bringing me my cousin’s message. I don’t want to go to Xianan University for now, but I will find him later.”

Zhou Qiang was a bit surprised to hear this and, without saying more, turned to his team members, carrying Li Wei’s body away from the playground.

Compared to when they arrived with such arrogance, Zhou Qiang and his group appeared very desolate as they left.

No sooner than Zhou Qiang and his group had walked a little way, the playground erupted.

Zhao Gang was the first to rush out, shouting loudly:

”Brothers and sisters, from today on, we support Yang Xiao as our leader. Everyone, what do you think?”

”Great!” everyone shouted in unison.

Everyone had witnessed Yang Xiao helping Huang Wen and others and already admired his character. Many had been envious of Huang Wen and her team for finding a leader worth relying on, and some even tried to join Huang Wen’s team but were refused by her. Only Qin Yu and Deng Xiao were accepted as Huang Wen’s friends.

This past month or more, everyone had grown tired of the infighting and scheming among classmates, facing not only hunger but mutated beasts, living in constant fear.

Zhao Gang being hunted in Nine-tails City by people from Xianan University made everyone feel the terror of the apocalypse.

Life was fragile, unpredictable from one day to the next.

Everyone desired a united home, relying on each other to fight against the dangers of the apocalypse.

Yang Xiao was now the most suitable candidate for that role.

The crowd surged toward Yang Xiao, with Zhao Gang and a group lifting Yang Xiao and throwing him into the air.

”Yang Xiao!”

”Yang Xiao!”

”Yang Xiao!”

...

The playground roared with cheers.

Huang Wen, Feifei, Qin Yu, Deng Xiao, and others watched their leader become everyone’s leader, feeling happy yet with a twinge of another sensation, as if their leader had been taken by others.

Huang Wen glanced at Deng Xiao:

”Aren’t you going to Xianan University to find your cousin?”

”Later. Now that I know my cousin is alive, there’s no rush to find him.”

Deng Xiao looked at Qin Yu and smiled:

”My cousin worries about you. Aren’t you going to see him?”

Qin Yu gave Deng Xiao a sideways glance and said nothing.

Feifei ran over and said:

”Deng Xiao, so Xia Luo from Xianan University is your cousin! You mentioned introducing me to your cousin, you better keep your word!”

”Sure, don’t worry. My cousin loves chubby girls like you, you’re perfect, haha.....”

.....

Xiao Zhe and Xu Hua stood on the periphery of the crowd, exchanging a glance, feeling a bit sorrowful inside.

”Xiao Zhe, now that Yang Xiao has become the leader of Kongming Academy, what will we do?”

”What do you want to do?” Xiao Zhe retorted.

”Damn it, this leader position was originally yours, now Yang Xiao just took it. If we had known this, we should have allied with Xia Luo from Xianan University...”

”Shh, keep it down, don’t talk nonsense. I don’t have Yang Xiao’s abilities. If we are not convinced but can’t help it, let’s see what he does first. At worst, we leave here.”

...

Since he was pushed into the leader’s position by everyone, Yang Xiao did not decline and directly called the leaders of a dozen teams together for a meeting.

”Everyone understands the current situation. The apocalypse is more chaotic than ever, with mutated creatures roaming everywhere, ready to eat us if we’re not careful. We must stop internal strife, unite to get through this crisis.”

Zhao Gang stood up and said:

”Boss, we’ll follow your arrangements. Tell us what to do.”

Zhao Gang was deeply grateful to Yang Xiao for saving his life and was wholeheartedly obedient.

Others also followed suit, saying:

”Yang Xiao, you’re our leader from now on. We all listen to you.”

Yang Xiao nodded:

”The immediate task is to reorganize our personnel. Everyone, go back and register the gene mutation status of your members, especially the Beast Souls. Unify people with various elemental Beast Souls into distinct squads, like those with Electric Element, Wind Element, Fire Element, and Ice Element.

Beast Souls belonging to strength-based close combat form one squad, people with Bird Beast Souls who can fly form another. Those without Beast Souls can also form a team. If we encounter team combat in the future, we can assign battles according to everyone’s characteristics,

like those skilled in close combat defense for charging, those adept at long-range attacks as elemental attackers at the rear, and those with flying Bird Beast Souls in the air... This way, forming a three-dimensional combat team can multiply the combat prowess of the team...”

The leaders of the participating teams eagerly gave suggestions, offering many meaningful ideas. In the end, everyone decided to immediately survey and register the gene mutation status of each member to form new organizations.

Yang Xiao temporarily assigned Xiao Zhe, Zhao Gang, and others to manage the boys, while Huang Wen, Feifei, Qin Yu, Deng Xiao, and others managed the girls. Gradually separating boys and girls’ accommodations ensured the girls’ sense of security.

Xiao Zhe was very surprised at Yang Xiao’s arrangement for him to manage the boys. Yang Xiao patted his shoulder and said:

”You were the vice president of the student council before and have more experience in this area than I do. You also have the ability for this.”

Xiao Zhe looked embarrassed but nodded.

That afternoon, all surviving students of Kongming Academy conducted a comprehensive survey and registered everyone’s gene mutation status.

When Yang Xiao received the summarized data, he was quite astonished. Of the more than 1,200 people, over a hundred had Bird Beast Souls, about 200 had Elemental Magic attacks, approximately 300 had various Beast Soul mutations, around 100 had Plant Soul Systems, and the remaining 500, despite not having Beast Souls, had all completed gene mutations and activated their Genetic Data Systems.

”Huang Wen, Qin Yu, and Deng Xiao are responsible for managing the more than one hundred people with Bird Beast Souls.”

”Chen Fei and Chen Lu are responsible for those with Elemental Magic attacks.”

”Feifei is in charge of the Plant Soul System group.”

”Xiao Zhe, Zhao Gang, Dai Yun, and others manage those with various Beast Soul mutations.”

”The 500 people with no mutated Beast Souls will temporarily form the logistics department, responsible for the entire campus’s logistics, security, and life services.”

Yang Xiao divided the work generally and promoted some newcomers, thus forming a new organization in Kongming Academy after the apocalypse.

”Yang Xiao, how will future spoils be distributed, such as Genetic Fragments?”

Yang Xiao pondered for a moment and said:

”I think this society is destined for not everyone to become a hero. If we distribute all resources equally, none of us can grow.

For now, at least the 600 people without Beast Souls will temporarily undertake logistics and security duties. We can hunt mutated creatures’ corpses to ensure their food supply.

If any of them have special talents, they can also be promoted.

Genetic Fragments are first allocated to those in frontline combat. During team battles, spoils are evenly divided within the team...”

Zhao Gang suggested:

”Yang Xiao, can we have mixed combat, organize a mixed army, integrating those with Bird Beast Souls for flight, those with Elemental Magic attacks, and close combat Beast Souls into one mixed team, to conduct three-dimensional combat on the ground and in the air? So whether for hunting mutated creatures on the mountain or engaging in group battles with external forces, our combat power will greatly increase.”

Everyone thought it was feasible, and Yang Xiao agreed too.

The participants in the meeting suddenly became unusually excited. They realized that the previously scattered and vulnerable team now restructured, exuded new vitality, far exceeding everyone’s expectations.

Many thought that if Zhou Qiang returned with 200 people now, he would not leave unscathed.

Yang Xiao suddenly thought of those mutated birds at the mountain pool and, with a thought, said:

”Tomorrow, let’s first pull together a mixed combat team of three hundred people and have some training on the mountain.”
