Chapter 57: Chapter 57 The Death of the Sparrow King

”If this keeps up, we’re doomed too; all the fish will be eaten by the sparrows—what will we eat?”

Feifei said from the side.

Yang Xiao glanced at Feifei’s size and said,

”Isn’t all that fish enough for you? You should take the opportunity in the apocalypse to lose some weight. Maybe after losing weight, you could become a beauty.”

”I was already a beauty before!”

Feifei said shamelessly.

Yang Xiao rolled his eyes and just shut up.

Chen Fei and the others burst into laughter around Feifei.

The leader of this group of sparrows was a massive sparrow, two times larger than normal, with black feathers on its head.

The Sparrow King seemed a bit impatient, suddenly folding its wings and diving swiftly towards the water.

With a ”plop,”

The Sparrow King’s claws plunged over a meter deep into the water, grasping a 3-meter-long giant tilapia.

The Sparrow King spread its wings,

With a whoosh, lifted the giant tilapia out of the water.

However, perhaps the tilapia was too heavy; the Sparrow King, clutching the tilapia’s back, only lifted it about half a meter above the water before helplessly giving up and releasing its claws, letting the tilapia fall back into the water.

Yang Xiao, and the others, witnessed the scene and each of them gaped in astonishment.

At this moment,

With a loud splash, a 5-meter-long Tilapia King burst out of the water, two bone spurs shot out towards the Sparrow King, and it opened its giant mouth to bite the Sparrow King’s thigh.

In panic, the Sparrow King hurriedly flapped its massive wings, over a dozen meters long, dodging the two bone spurs, but one thigh was firmly bitten by the Tilapia King.

The 5-meter-long Tilapia King, weighing at least 500 pounds, dragged the Sparrow King into the water.

Splashing, splashing.....

The Sparrow King fell into the water pit, continually flapping its wings and beating the water surface, stirring up several meters of spray.

Helpless since its leg was bitten tightly by the Tilapia King, it could not possibly fly away from the water.

The sparrows circling in the sky immediately rushed over, attempting to rescue the Sparrow King.

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh...

Dozens of bone spurs shot up from the water, hitting five sparrows, causing them to fall into the water pit. The remaining sparrows, seeing the situation, flew up to thirty meters high, incessantly screeching.

The Sparrow King wasn’t one to wait for death; with one leg bitten, it desperately clawed at the Tilapia King with the other leg, causing blood to continuously churn in the water below.

However, soon enough, another tilapia came over, also biting the Sparrow King’s other leg.

With both legs bitten, the Sparrow King could only helplessly spread its wings and float on the water, struggling mightily, with half of its body submerged.

Fortunately, the water level in the pit wasn’t deep enough; the tilapia couldn’t drag it completely under. If the water had not been drained, the Sparrow King would have long been drowned by the tilapia.

The water below continually churned as other fish began attacking the Sparrow King.

”It’s over; that Sparrow King is probably going to die.”

Chen Lu said somewhat regretfully.

Suddenly, they heard the Sparrow King screech; its wings fiercely slapped the water, raising a pair of giant wings high.

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh...

Nearly a hundred feathers abruptly detached from its wings, transforming into sharp arrows, shooting into the water.

Huang Wen, upon seeing this, shouted excitedly, ”Feathered Arrow?”

Huang Wen currently possessed this skill, but she could only fire them one by one—not like the Sparrow King, who could launch a hundred Feathered Arrows at once.

The Tilapia King submerged in the water got pierced by the sudden onslaught of sharp Feathered Arrows. Although its scale armor was hard, they still penetrated several centimeters deep.

The Tilapia King, its whole body stinging, released its bite on the Sparrow King’s legs.

The Sparrow King managed a few swift paddles and hurriedly swam towards the shore.

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh.....

A few gentle sounds came as the Tilapia King also launched several bone spurs, hitting the Sparrow King.

The Sparrow King screeched once and struggled on the water surface a few times before it stopped flailing, merely floating on the surface, incessantly squeaking.

The remaining sparrows, witnessing this scene, clearly got frightened by the Tilapia King’s assault and didn’t dare to fly down for the moment.

”When the clams fight, the fisherman profits! Boss, if both the Sparrow King and Tilapia King end up in your hands, wouldn’t you strike it rich?”

Chen Fei nudged Yang Xiao with his elbow.

Yang Xiao glanced at Chen Fei and said,

”Why don’t you go? If you get the spoils from the Tilapia King and Sparrow King, they’re all yours.”

Chen Fei chuckled and said,

”Do I look capable of that?”

Yang Xiao, without reservation, said,

”Good that you understand—remember, never be too greedy, or it will end up harming yourself. The sparrows in the sky now are mutated monsters; don’t underestimate the danger.”

There were others with ideas like Chen Fei, such as Xu Hua and Xiao Zhe.

”Xiao Zhe, do you think if we go and bring back that struggling Sparrow King now, it should belong to us, right? Our agreement with Yang Xiao only involved the fish in the pond, and now heaven has gifted us a present; isn’t it a waste not to take it?”

”But there are flocks of sparrows in the sky and so many tilapias in the pond—how do we retrieve that dying Sparrow King on the water?”

Xu Hua sneered and said,

”If you are determined, you can seize this opportunity. I heard that Yang Xiao’s Golden Short Sword came from the Bee Queen, along with the whole set of Golden Bee Sword Skill. Why is Yang Xiao so formidable now? Isn’t it because he acquired the things dropped by the Bee Queen? If we want to surpass Yang Xiao and not let him suppress us, we must take risks; otherwise, we will always lag behind and be suppressed by him.”

Xiao Zhe thought it over and agreed, saying,

”Do you have any idea?”

”Don’t you remember? Your beloved Qin Yu awakened with the Beast Soul of a Skylark and can fly. Let her fly over and unexpectedly snatch the dying Sparrow King; won’t that work?”

Xiao Zhe was taken aback, hesitated, and said,

”It’s not that I don’t want Qin Yu to take the risk, but the question is, even if Qin Yu goes, can she succeed?”

Xu Hua coldly retorted,

”How do you know it won’t succeed if you don’t try? What if it does succeed? If we wait until the situation calms, will this opportunity still be ours?”

Xiao Zhe thought it over and felt it was reasonable. If the pond dried up and the sparrows flew away, any leftover goods would undoubtedly be controlled by Yang Xiao. By then, they certainly wouldn’t get their hands on the Sparrow King’s spoils.

”Fine, I agree to let Qin Yu try, but Deng Xiao should go with her. Both awakened with bird-type Beast Souls, so going together would provide mutual support, improving the chances of success.”

Qin Yu and Deng Xiao were both beauties; Xiao Zhe liked Qin Yu, while Xu Hua had always wanted to pursue Deng Xiao.

Deng Xiao nodded and said in a deep voice,

”Alright, let’s have them both go.”
