Super Gene Hunting Ground

Chapter 83: Chapter 83 First Team Battle

Early the next morning, Yang Xiao led over three hundred people up the mountain in grand style. Among these three hundred people, more than one hundred possessed Bird Beast Soul abilities, allowing them to fly and attack, more than one hundred had various Elemental Attack abilities, and the remaining hundred were individuals with Werewolf, Bear-man, Water Buffalo, and Porcupine Beast Souls, who had characteristics of great strength and high defense, making them suitable for close combat defense.

Huang Wen, Chen Fei, and Dai Yun each led a team.

Those remaining on the playground, under the arrangements of Xiao Zhe and Zhao Gang, formed several mixed combat teams to hunt Mutated Creatures on nearby hills or distant fields and valleys.

Those without Beast Souls were divided into several small teams to follow the battle teams and pick up the Mutated Creatures killed by everyone.

...

Yang Xiao and others arrived at the pool, and from a distance, they heard the calls of birds.

The water in the pool had dropped some more, and the huge tilapia inside were gone, leaving only some other smaller fish, though these ”small” fish were at least over twenty pounds.

The size of all Mutated Creatures was much larger than before.

There were also over a hundred birds circling near the pool, continually swooping down, skimming over the water, grabbing mutated fish, and then feasting with their companions on a nearby mudflat.

For many, it was their first time climbing to the pool. They had heard rumors of water monsters that had eaten several people, as well as more dangerous mutated birds that had killed many, so they dared not come here.

Now, seeing over a hundred massive birds dancing in the sky, occasionally catching mutated large fish from the water, everyone found the scene somewhat terrifying. But with over three hundred people present and Yang Xiao leading the group, they weren’t as panicked.

”Alright, everyone, pay attention to formation. Elemental attackers and close combat defenders, stand together. Close combat personnel, focus on defense. Elemental attackers, attack with all your might. Huang Wen, take a dozen people to fly over and lure the mutated birds in the sky. Qin Yu, Deng Xiao, divide the rest into two groups, spread out to the left and right. As soon as Huang Wen lures the mutated birds, immediately encircle them and attack.”

After giving the instructions, Huang Wen led a dozen people, transforming into giant birds, and flew to the center of the pool. Positioned ten meters away from the mutated birds, Huang Wen and the others immediately released Feathered Arrows.

”Swish, swish...”

Dozens of Feathered Arrows shot through the air towards the birds.

After firing, Huang Wen and the others turned around and flew back. The mutated birds, taken by surprise, instantly became furious and screeched loudly, with forty to fifty of them rushing over to attack Huang Wen and others.

As Huang Wen and the others flew, they dodged the Feathered Arrows shot at them from behind.

In the blink of an eye, they covered the dozens of meters, and seeing the flock of mutated large birds had entered the encirclement, Qin Yu and Deng Xiao each led over a hundred people and ”boom,” soared into the sky, completely surrounding the forty to fifty mutated birds.

The flock of birds, focused solely on angrily pursuing Huang Wen and the others, never expected so many people with Bird Beast Souls to suddenly appear.

Huang Wen quickly turned with the team to attack.

”Swish, swish, swish...”

Over a hundred people fired Feathered Arrows, densely shooting at the mutated birds, leaving the flock of birds in a state of panic.

From the ground, Chen Fei shouted:

”Attack!”

Immediately, over a hundred elemental attacks of Ice Balls, Fireballs, Wind Blades, and Lightning burst forth, fiercely striking the giant birds in the sky.

The giant birds, already panicked by Huang Wen and the others’ assault, hadn’t expected such powerful attacks from the ground.

Boom, boom, boom...

Various elemental attacks exploded in mid-air, hitting the mutated giant birds, causing a series of miserable screams, and a storm of feathers soared through the sky, as dozens of giant birds plummeted from above.

In a matter of seconds, the forty to fifty mutated giant birds were annihilated by everyone working together.

All the companions were excited. On a normal day, they would never have imagined something like this.

Individually, apart from Yang Xiao and a few others, no one was a match for the giant birds. But now, with organized efforts, the situation was entirely one-sided.

Dai Yun looked at Yang Xiao, exceptionally frustrated:

”Boss, I haven’t even made a move yet?”

Yang Xiao laughed:

”I didn’t make a move either... Huang Wen, go attract another batch of birds, and the rest of you can pursue and eliminate them fully. Everyone, use this opportunity to train your mental preparedness for combat.”

”Yes, Boss.”

Huang Wen led a dozen people once again to the sky above the pool, employing the same strategy, luring another forty or fifty mutated giant birds over.

In a few more seconds, they were all eliminated.

In the distant sky, forty to fifty mutated giant birds remained.

”Alright, everyone chase and eliminate them on your own. Be careful not to stray too far alone. Coordinate air and ground attack and defense. Feel free to form teams.”

As soon as Yang Xiao finished speaking, over three hundred people charged out. Needless to say, Huang Wen and others flew the fastest and immediately engaged the remaining mutated giant birds.

Chen Fei and others were not to be outdone, running and firing at the giant birds in the air. Some birds flew too high, beyond their reach, so they had to rely on Huang Wen and others to suppress them.

Dai Yun and others were so angry that they jumped up. Damn it, jumping three or four meters and still can’t reach!

Dai Yun, always at the forefront, felt exceptionally stifled, jumping several times in succession, reaching just over four meters at most, still unable to kill the birds in the air.

Someone noticed that there were quite a few fish in the water hole, and people jumped in, not caring about the mud inside, and started attacking with Wolf Claws, Bear Paws, and Longswords, finally finding a sense of presence.

Yang Xiao stood on the mudflat by the pool, watching everyone hunt down the mutated birds in the sky, then turned to observe Dai Yun and others slaughtering the mutated fish in the pool, feeling quite emotional.

With proper organization and leadership, even a flock of sheep can turn into wolves!

More than half an hour later, over ten birds escaped, with the rest eliminated by Huang Wen, Chen Fei, and others. Dai Yun and others nearly filled the water hole, capturing over a hundred mutated fish, each at least twenty to thirty pounds, with the largest being thirty to forty pounds.

With over a hundred birds, each weighing over fifty pounds, and over a hundred fish, there was at least tens of thousands of pounds of high-protein food. This was Kongming Academy’s first collective bountiful harvest.

Huang Wen organized the logistics to tally the spoils, which included over 180 Genetic Fragments, mostly from the birds that had previously hunted fish in the pool.

Three small bird leaders were killed, dropping 3 bows, 3 Feather Arrow Secret Books, and 3 complete Genetic Disks.

Yang Xiao called Dai Yun over, handing her a bow and a Feather Arrow Secret Book.

”Aren’t you quite frustrated? With a bow and learning archery, you won’t have to worry anymore.”

Dai Yun was overjoyed.

”Thank you, Boss.”

”Hehe, no need to thank me. In time, everyone will gradually be equipped. Those in close combat defense with high agility attributes can equip bow skills to engage in long-range combat. We are relatively poor now, but when we gather more Crystal Coins in the future, everyone can have the weapons they want.”

”Boss, I feel too excited today. Why not go hunt a mountaintop now? The Mutated Creatures there must be more than here.”

Chen Fei said, feeling unsatisfied, having been unable to attack more than a few times, with most of the day’s achievements being taken by Huang Wen, Qin Yu, and Deng Xiao.

”Hehe, no rush. With so much food, let’s first transport it down the mountain and have a big feast, celebrating Kongming Academy’s rebirth in the apocalypse. Let’s celebrate, shall we?”

”That’s a good idea; I agree!”

”I agree too!”

Everyone cheered.

Yang Xiao also let Dai Yun lead a few people to block the drainage gate of the pool with stones and dirt.

”Why?”

”Why? Are you foolish? Once it rains in a few days, let the pool store water. It will still be an important source of water in the future. If not for the special circumstances this time, I wouldn’t engage in such exhaustive fishing. I hope some fingerlings remain in the pool to breed gradually.”

Yang Xiao led everyone down the mountain, and Xiao Zhe and Zhao Gang said in surprise:

”Back already? In less than 3 hours?”

When they saw over a hundred mutated giant birds and more than a hundred fish, their jaws dropped in astonishment, and the hundreds left on the playground were overjoyed.

Several hundred had formed teams to hunt Mutated Creatures elsewhere and hadn’t returned yet.

Huang Wen arranged for logistics personnel to handle the food and prepare for the celebration feast.

Yang Xiao handed two bows and two Feather Arrow Secret Books to Xiao Zhe and Zhao Gang.

”Xiao Zhe is a Wolfman Beast Soul, Zhao Gang is a Bear-man Beast Soul, you two can learn archery for future long-range combat.”

Although Xiao Zhe’s and Zhao Gang’s Agility Attributes weren’t as high as Yang Xiao’s, having the Feather Arrow Skill was a significant advantage, and the sparrow bow itself could increase agility by 3 points, making even an amateur archer skilled with a bow.

Xiao Zhe was somewhat excited, not expecting Yang Xiao to treat him so well, and felt ashamed of his previous petty thoughts.

”Yang Xiao, I...”

Xiao Zhe looked at Yang Xiao, his face full of emotion.

Yang Xiao smiled:

”Just a bow and you’re being formal with me? Soon enough, these things will be like trash, something you wouldn’t even accept. We’re using such poor bows only because we’re at a low level now.”

One sentence made Xiao Zhe burst into laughter.

”Yang Xiao, rest assured, I will do my best to assist you in managing Kongming Academy well.”

Yang Xiao patted Xiao Zhe’s shoulder:

”Brother, not helping me, but helping yourself and everyone else. Surviving in the apocalypse isn’t easy. Cherish life while we live. No one knows what tomorrow holds. Since we’re alive today, let’s cherish it and work hard. I believe that as long as we don’t give up on ourselves, fate won’t give up on us either.”

Beside them, Zhao Gang also said emotionally:

”Boss, whether in death or life, count me in. My life was saved by you; it’s yours now.”

”No, by all means, no. Living together is fine, but let’s skip dying. Also, I don’t want your life; I’d rather have Feifei. At least she’s a woman and can have kids, hahaha...”

”Boss, you called? What’s up?”

Outside the tent, Feifei hurriedly ran in.

Yang Xiao was dumbfounded, his eyes widened, his mouth gaping open, and his legs went weak, causing him to sit on the ground.

Damn, it’s bad luck to even crack a joke.

”Hahaha...”

Xiao Zhe and Zhao Gang laughed until their bellies hurt, clutching their stomachs and slowly squatting down.

Only Feifei was a bit puzzled, thinking to herself, do I have such charm? Seeing me excites the boss to the point of collapse!
