Super Gene Hunting Ground

Chapter 89: Chapter 89 The Prey is Snatched

Yang Xiao saw that Long Yongjun could no longer hold on. Gritting his teeth, he put away the sparrow bow, held the Golden Bee Sword, and charged forward. With a flick of his left hand, a Small Blood Pill flew towards Long Yongjun.

”Fall back and take the Small Blood Pill to heal.”

This was the only Small Blood Pill Yang Xiao had on him, kept for emergencies. Today, they just intended to hunt some small Mutated Creatures, who would have thought they would encounter such a ferocious mutant dog.

Yang Xiao rushed forward and stabbed the mutant dog with the Golden Bee Sword in his hand.

The mutant dog had long loathed Yang Xiao, the remote shooter, but was unable to get close. Now seeing Yang Xiao approach, it immediately turned its head and lunged at him.

Yang Xiao was much more Agile than Long Yongjun, dodging to the side and hiding behind a large tree.

The mutant dog slapped the tree, cracking half the trunk.

Long Yongjun swallowed the Small Blood Pill, feeling revitalized, and charged once more.

”Don’t engage it head-on. It’s wounded and time is against it. I’ll keep it busy, you and Chen Fei attack.”

Yang Xiao fully utilized his high Agility and the complex forest environment, relying on the trees to continuously dodge the mutant wolf’s attacks. Long Yongjun and Chen Fei kept looking for opportunities to sneak attack from the sides and back, scoring hits continuously, especially Long Yongjun’s close-range stabs caused significant damage to the mutant dog.

Over ten minutes later, the mutant dog was covered in wounds and gradually losing ground.

Despite being injured and besieged, Yang Xiao also took a few scratches on the arms, chest, back, and shoulders from the mutant wolf, though they were just surface wounds due to his quick dodging.

Yang Xiao dared not take excessive risks, trying his best to avoid engagements, with some trees as thick as bowls being snapped by the mutant dog’s claws.

What puzzled Yang Xiao was why the mutant dog hadn’t spat flames again; he had been bracing himself for that move all along.

After Long Yongjun took the Small Blood Pill, his wounds gradually healed, his energy restored considerably, and he fought more bravely, continuously stabbing the mutant dog with a golden short knife.

At a crucial moment, Chen Fei’s Ice Ball seemed to have an issue; her firing intervals were getting longer, allowing the mutant dog time to recover.

Without the Ice Ball suppressing the mutant dog, it was extremely dangerous for Yang Xiao and Long Yongjun.

”Chen Fei, what’s going on?”

Yang Xiao shouted.

”Boss, I lack the Intelligence Attribute, and the Ice Ball recovery time is getting longer.”

”Intelligence?”

Yang Xiao and Long Yongjun were stunned.

”No, it’s my Wisdom Attribute. Elemental attackers need a high Wisdom Attribute. You play games, right? Mages need Blue Potions!”

Chen Fei was a game enthusiast before.

Yang Xiao and Long Yongjun understood immediately.

”No worries, this mutant dog is running out of energy. Everyone, stay focused, hold on a little longer, we’ll drag it to death if we have to.”

At this moment, a commotion came from the valley outside the forest, and soon, several people rushed into the woods, seeing Yang Xiao and the others besieging the mutant dog. Someone shouted loudly:

”The three of you, back off.”

”Boss, that mutant dog is almost dead.”

”We can’t let it die. It’s said this mutant dog is about to break through the Enhanced Gene. Once it does, it will surely drop a piece of the Wolf Skin Gold Armor, maybe even other high-level equipment.”

Yang Xiao was entangled in battle with the mutant dog, watching it inch toward death, and was taken aback by the sudden appearance of this group.

”You three, withdraw at once. Xiao Hei, you guys go up and control the mutant dog. Be careful not to kill it.”

Someone was giving orders.

”Alright, brothers, follow me.”

Yang Xiao glanced and saw six people rushing up. One of them swung both hands, a large iron chain shot out, instantly wrapping around one of the mutant dog’s legs. With a pull, the mutant dog fell to the ground.

Aooo, aooo, aooo...

The mutant dog kept howling.

Several other youths rushed up. One of them with a flick of his head formed his twenty-meter-long black hair into a thick braid, strangling the mutant dog’s neck.

”Xiao Gang, be gentle, don’t strangle it to death.”

Someone called out.

”Don’t worry, it won’t die.”

The others stepped forward, taking out iron chains, pressed down the mutant dog’s four legs and tied them all up.

Seeing this group’s skillful and brave actions, Yang Xiao felt deeply suspicious.

Chen Fei approached Yang Xiao wanting to say something, but Yang Xiao stopped her with a look.

Long Yongjun yelled at the group:

”Hey, what are you doing? We were the ones hunting this mutant dog, why are you stealing our prey?”

The young man holding the chain named Xiao Hei chuckled and said:

”Kid, count your luck good today, but also bad. Stop shouting. While our boss is in a good mood, you guys better leave quick.”

”What do you mean?” Long Yongjun refused to accept.

Xiao Hei sneered:

”We’ve been after this mutant dog for a long time. If it wasn’t injured by us earlier, do you think a few of you could take it down? You’d have been dead already.

We’ve lost five brothers and more than a dozen injured just to hunt this mutant dog. Running into this wounded one, count yourselves lucky.

If you think you’re unlucky, it’s because we’ve been chasing it all along. It originally belonged to us; you need to give it back, understand?”

”Does it have your name on it?”

Long Yongjun continued to argue.

Yang Xiao waved his hand, saying:

”Forget it, it’s not worth arguing. We’re just unlucky. Which one of you is in charge here?”

Xiao Hei glanced at Yang Xiao, pointing at a distant young man and said:

”That’s our boss over there, but I advise you not to talk too much, just leave quickly.”

The young man from afar glanced at Yang Xiao but said nothing.

Yang Xiao took a few steps forward, saying:

”Brother, even if this mutant dog is the prey you’ve been chasing, you’ve seen we paid quite a price to siege it. If it weren’t for our fierce battle, could you have subdued it so easily? Now you want to take it away, isn’t that unfair?”

The youth in the distance slightly frowned and said indifferently:

”What do you want?”

”Let’s cut to the chase: we used three Small Blood Pills killing this mutant dog. You should at least compensate us for that, right?”

The youth nodded, saying:

”Three Small Blood Pills sounds right. If we had captured it ourselves, someone would have been injured. Xiao Hei, give him five Small Blood Pills, consider the other two as compensation.”

”Qing Bro, we only have eight Small Blood Pills left.”

Xiao Hei said hesitantly.

The young man referred to as Qing Bro’s face changed, speaking coldly:

”What, am I not heard here?”

Xiao Hei immediately grinned and said:

”Qing Bro, no, I’ll give it to them right away.”

Xiao Hei walked to Yang Xiao, poured five Small Blood Pills from a small porcelain bottle, and handed them to him.

”Here, take it and leave quickly.”

Yang Xiao said nothing, turning with Long Yongjun to head towards the valley.

Long Yongjun was very reluctant, casting a hard glance at the bound mutant dog in the distance, but could only follow Yang Xiao.

”Boss, are we just leaving like this?”

As the three left the woods, Chen Fei asked quietly.

Yang Xiao handed a Small Blood Pill to Chen Fei,

”Quick, go save Qin Yu. What’s more important, a life or that mutant dog?”

Hearing this, Chen Fei immediately ran through a foggy corridor to the distance.

Qin Yu was seriously injured, her left arm burned by the mutant wolf’s flame and in extreme pain. Deng Xiao stood by taking care of her.

Chen Fei quickly fed her a Small Blood Pill.

”Boss, what about them? I saw a lot of people rushing into the woods, didn’t have time to tell you.”

Deng Xiao said.

”Boss and the others are coming. The mutant dog was taken by the others. The Small Blood Pill was obtained by the boss from them. He only brought one on this trip, which was used by Long Yongjun.”

As they spoke, Yang Xiao and Long Yongjun approached.
