Xiao Zhe walked up to Huang Wen and asked:

”Where’s your boss?”

”He’s sleeping now, he was exhausted all night.”

”Oh, then let’s not disturb him. We’re going to catch those two big fish in the shallow water pit, and we’ll give you one later.”

Huang Wen was taken aback and said:

”Yang Xiao told us not to mess with them, worried it might be dangerous.”

”Haha, those two fish are trapped there, what harm could they do? Don’t worry, you don’t need to help, just wait to eat.”

After Xiao Zhe finished speaking, he returned to the camp to discuss with everyone how to catch those two big fish.

”In my opinion, just go over there, cut them with one slash, and then drag them up.”

A tall boy said. His name is Zhan Hao, and his awakened Beast Soul is a porcupine, possessing great strength. Recently, he bought a Black Long Sword from the Genetic Store and felt invincible. He was confident about killing the two fish trapped in the water pit.

”But the pit is 30 meters from the shore, how do we get there?”

Zhan Hao laughed heartily upon hearing this:

”Xiao Zhe, you’re city-born, but I’m from the countryside, used to dealing with mud and water since childhood. Just take off your shoes and walk barefoot. Isn’t that how you catch fish?”

”But I’m still a bit worried.”

Xiao Zhe hesitated.

Zhan Hao already took off his shoes and rolled up his pants to his thighs. Holding his sword in his left hand, he patted his chest with his right, saying:

”Boss, don’t worry, watch how I handle those two mutated giant fish.”

With that, Zhan Hao jumped into the water pit. Nowadays, jumping three to four meters high was no big deal for him.

Xiao Zhe could only say:

”Be careful then, anyone else willing to go with Zhan Hao? You can support each other.”

Two other boys also took off their shoes, rolled up their pants, and jumped into the pit.

The mud in the pit wasn’t too deep. Near the shore, it was fairly hard sand. As they walked towards the center, the mud gradually deepened.

The three walked about twenty meters; the mud around their feet was about 20 centimeters deep.

About ten meters from the two mutated giant tilapias, the three got excited.

”Hao Ge, you’re so daring, respect!”

Zhan Hao felt a bit complacent, shaking the black sword in his hand, saying:

”It’s just a fish, I’ve been catching them since I was little. There’s no fish I can’t catch.”

The three approached to within three meters of the pit. The two giant tilapia were just within reach; they could clearly see the thick backs exposed.

”Damn, die!”

Zhan Hao swung his sword, charging at the two giant fish in the pit. If he slashed down, he could split the giant tilapia in half.

But in a flash, the bone spurs on the backs of the two giant tilapia suddenly all stood upright and fiercely shot at Zhan Hao and the other two.

Swish, swish, swish...

The sound of piercing through the air was continuous.

Zhan Hao immediately swung his longsword to block, but standing in the mud, his agility greatly decreased. He dodged the first three bone spurs but couldn’t avoid the fourth.

With a puff,

A thirty-centimeter bone spur stabbed into Zhan Hao’s chest, and Zhan Hao immediately shouted.

Puff,

Two more bone spurs pierced into Zhan Hao’s body in succession, and he spat blood, falling into the pit.

The two people behind Zhan Hao were also hit by the bone spurs. One was severely injured and fell in the pit, while the other scrambled out of the pit, running wildly towards the shore.

The onlookers on the shore, including Xiao Zhe, were instantly panic-stricken, not knowing what to do. They wanted to help but were hindered by the mud in the pit, unable to act and could only watch as Zhan Hao and the other person fell in the pit.

Only then did the two giant tilapia reveal their heads, opening wide mouths, exposing sharp teeth, and gnawing at Zhan Hao and the other person’s bodies. In a moment, the pit’s water turned scarlet. More small fish rolled out of the pit, fighting over the bodies bitten by the tilapia.

Even mutated giant eels and loaches emerged from the mud, joining the food fight, causing a scene of bloodstained splashes in the pit.

The site was unbearable to watch!

Moments later, the distant pit returned to calm. The two giant mutated tilapia still lurking in the water, their thick backs exposed.

Xiao Zhe was trembling slightly.

Next to him, Xu Hua asked:

”These mutated tilapia are so formidable, and in the muddy pit, no wonder Yang Xiao warned us not to underestimate them. What should we do now?”

Xiao Zhe sighed heavily,

”Go get Yang Xiao. Since he’s set the trap with water to catch fish, he must have his own way.”

Xiao Zhe and Xu Hua arrived at Yang Xiao’s tent but were blocked by Huang Wen.

”The boss is sleeping; while you all slept soundly last night, our boss was still working hard on the night watch.”

”Huang Wen, it’s urgent now, go wake Yang Xiao and see if he has a solution?”

”Hmph, didn’t Yang Xiao warn you not to mess with those giant tilapia?”

”But nobody expected this.”

...

Xiao Zhe and Huang Wen argued at the tent door.

”You went to catch those two big fish?”

Yang Xiao came out of the tent and asked.

Xiao Zhe saw Yang Xiao, like seeing a savior, quickly said:

”Oh, Yang Xiao, you’re awake! Those two fish are so fierce, they killed two of our people. You have to avenge us!”

”Yeah, I just want to catch those two fish and roast them now,” Xu Hua said angrily.

Yang Xiao stretched lazily, glanced at the two, and sneered:

”I told you not to touch them, you thought I was scaring you. Now you’ve realized how fierce they are, haven’t you?”

Although Xiao Zhe and Xu Hua were unconvinced inside, they could only lower their heads and say:

”It was our neglect. Yang Xiao, quickly think of a way.”

Chen Fei and the others were up by this time too, and it was already noon. Yang Xiao immediately said:

”Let’s go back and rest, have lunch, and once full, we’ll deal with those two big fish.”

Though eager, Xiao Zhe couldn’t argue and had to follow Xu Hua back to their tent, telling everyone to rest and eat.

Huang Wen pointed out the dozens of fish Xiao Zhe gave them to Yang Xiao.

”Alright, then we’ll have grilled fish for lunch. There’s no clean water now, just grill it, peel off the charred skin, and it’s ready to eat. Oh, and grill a big eel too; that thing is tasty.”

Moments later, the aroma of grilled fish filled the air, and everyone temporarily let go of the sadness from Zhan Hao being killed by the monster fish, eating grilled fish heartily.

Yang Xiao still had a dozen or so packets of spicy grilled fish and spicy dried tofu in his bag, which came in handy as condiments, paired wonderfully with the freshly grilled big eel.

Yang Xiao took out two packs and shared a bit with everyone.

As everyone completed the mutation and activated the Genetic Data System, their constitution continuously improved, making eating these mutated creatures have no apparent effects, mainly to fill their stomachs.

From now on, they would rely on Genetic Potions synthesized from Genetic Fragments for cultivation, gradually enhancing the four major genetic attributes: Strength, Agility, Defense, and Wisdom, while also learning some Cultivation Skills.

However, Yang Xiao still felt an electric current every time he ate some mutated creature meat. Although the sensation wasn’t as strong as before and only passed briefly, there remained an electric current, indicating his body was still in a continuous process of mutation and evolution.
