Super Gene Hunting Ground

Chapter 68: Chapter 68: Complete Annihilation of Tilapia Group

When Yang Xiao went to the Genetic Store, Qin Yu and others had already sold over ten sparrows and parts of some smoked fish, earning about 30 Crystal Coins.

We could say that the beauty sales team led by Qin Yu and Deng Xiao was very effective.

Huang Wen also took this opportunity to gather these girls together for a brief discussion.

”Ladies, we’ve been able to survive in this apocalypse up to now, thanks largely to Yang Xiao joining us. Yang Xiao is benevolent and doesn’t want to monopolize a large amount of Genetic Fragments resources. But we need to understand the importance of gratitude, right? If we let Yang Xiao share these Genetic Fragments with us equally, it will delay Yang Xiao’s Genetic Evolution process, and in the end, it will harm us as well, don’t you think?”

Everyone nodded in agreement.

Chen Fei said:

”Now everyone has completed their gene mutation and has the ability to hunt low-level Mutated Creatures. I propose that from now on, we all go hunting together, but the Genetic Fragments each person hunts should belong to them individually. Only the joint hunt spoils should be shared. This way, everyone has motivation and enthusiasm. How about that?”

Huang Wen, Chen Lu, Feifei, Dai Yun, and others all agreed.

Yang Xiao didn’t expect that while he had been away for a while, these girls had helped him complete a team distribution system.

After surviving the initial stage of banding together, they should now enter a stage of individual development based on their skills.

When Yang Xiao returned, Huang Wen told him everyone’s thoughts, letting him decide.

Yang Xiao gently patted Huang Wen’s shoulder and smiled:

”You’ve done me a great favor. Alright, from now on, let’s do it this way. You can team up to go up the mountain, but each person hunts for themselves, and the spoils go to them. If you encounter powerful Mutated Creatures and need to join forces, then everyone splits it.”

Yang Xiao then gathered everyone and held a meeting, formally deciding on the new distribution system.

That night, Yang Xiao ate two roasted sparrows, each containing nearly a hundred pounds of meat, gobbling it down voraciously, never appearing to get full, frightening Huang Wen and the others.

”Boss, take it slow. Don’t overdo it!”

”Is the boss under some spell?”

”Do you think the boss’s Beast Soul might be Zhu Bajie...”

”Haha...”

The girls burst into peals of laughter.

As Yang Xiao swallowed each mouthful of meat, it seemed to immediately transform into a current entering his body. He seemed to be eating not meat, but some kind of energy source.

After eating two roasted sparrows, Yang Xiao wiped his mouth, feeling embarrassed to eat more, and went to the tent to rest.

The next day, Yang Xiao divided everyone into three teams. He took Huang Wen, Qin Yu, and Deng Xiao to check the waterhole again, while Feifei, Chen Fei, Chen Lu, and Dai Yun took most of the girls to the forest at the foot of Biyun Mountain to hunt small Mutated Creatures, such as ants, mosquitoes, spiders, and other mutant insects. Meanwhile, some girls stayed at home.

Although Yang Xiao couldn’t fly, he ran incredibly fast, especially when holding the sparrow bow. The Genetic Data System’s Agility Attribute reached 8 points, allowing him to sprint swiftly.

Although Huang Wen and the others could fly, they were only slightly faster than Yang Xiao.

The four soon reached the vicinity of the waterhole, hearing a series of joyous and excited bird calls from afar.

”What’s going on?”

In preparation for any sudden developments, Huang Wen and the other three landed on the ground and quietly crawled with Yang Xiao into the camp.

From the camp’s entrance, Yang Xiao saw birds circling everywhere in the sky above the waterhole. Not just sparrows, but also magpies, crows, orioles, and others, about ten bird species in total.

These mutated birds were all exceptionally large, with wingspans over ten meters.

Right now, these birds were fiercely catching the fish in the water pit.

The water level of the pit had dropped considerably, clearly revealing the swimming fish inside, among which a few giant tilapia’s dorsal fins had emerged from the water.

However, these birds didn’t attempt to catch these giant mutant tilapia. Instead, they were capturing other fish weighing dozens of pounds.

Fishes were being caught one by one from the water. Some stayed nearby to eat the fish on the muddy shore of the waterhole, instantly attracting a large flock of birds in a competition.

Others took the fish into the thick fog and vanished.

”Boss, you’ve destroyed the fish in this pond,” Huang Wen teased from the side.

Qin Yu then asked:

”There seem to be a few giant tilapia left in the water. I heard there were dozens. Now there appear to be significantly fewer. Where are the rest of the tilapia?”

Yang Xiao thought for a moment and said:

”If I’m not wrong, they were probably caught by the eagle from yesterday. These ordinary mutated birds can’t capture such giant tilapia. Only that eagle would have the ability.”

Deng Xiao asked:

”The eagle caught at least a 300-pound tilapia yesterday. Could it even eat that, let alone a dozen tilapia?”

Yang Xiao nodded,

”Deng Xiao is right. We don’t exactly know what’s happening. Let’s watch the situation first and try not to make noise to see if that giant eagle reappears.”

Everyone stayed inside the camp, silently observing the birds above the waterhole fiercely competing for the fish, feeling deeply the harsh law of the jungle.

Moments later, a huge shrieking sound resounded.

”Arh—”

Yang Xiao’s heart shook, the main character was entering.

Moreover, everyone noticed a strange phenomenon. The hundreds of giant birds circling the waterhole suddenly quieted down, landing in the nearby forest and gazing at the waterhole from afar.

A massive eagle slowly emerged from the fog, descending above the waterhole.

The scene instantly filled with an indescribable Killing Aura.

”Isn’t that yesterday’s eagle?”

The four exchanged glances and continued watching through the camp’s opening.

The massive eagle hovered for a moment over the water pit. Even the swimming fish inside stopped moving, seemingly trying to evade death itself, as the surface ripples slowly vanished.

This Giant Eagle had an aura of a King descending.

Suddenly,

The massive eagle dove down into the water pit. Its talons, thick as tree stumps, viciously grappled a colossal tilapia, lifting it with a great splash.

This tilapia was extraordinarily large, more than half again bigger than the one Yang Xiao had killed before.

King of Tilapia!

Everyone gasped.

This King of Tilapia was at least over 500 pounds, yet the Giant Eagle lifted it effortlessly from the pit.

The King of Tilapia was already covered with scars. When caught in the eagle’s talons, a shallow penetration into the body rendered it motionless, only feebly struggling before giving up.

”Arh—”

The Giant Eagle let out a long cry, flapping its massive, tens of meters wide wings and swiftly ascending into the sky, disappearing into the thick fog in an instant.

Several minutes after the Giant Eagle flew away, the birds in the surrounding woods exploded back out, continuing to fish in the waterhole.

Yang Xiao touched his thumping heart, turning with Huang Wen and others to face each other.

”Boss, did you notice anything peculiar?”

Huang Wen asked.

”Of course, there’re many issues. Didn’t you notice? Since yesterday, after the eagle defeated those sparrows, it has continued to capture tilapia from the water pit. If I’m right, the tilapia in the waterhole have all been caught by the Giant Eagle.”

”But, how could one eagle eat so many tilapia, weighing thousands of pounds in total!”

”That’s the problem. Other birds eat the captured fish nearby, keeping them going back for more. But this Giant Eagle grabs the tilapia and leaves. Think about it; if the Giant Eagle were only eating for itself, wouldn’t this be an unnecessary act?”
