Super Gene Hunting Ground

Chapter 63: Chapter 63 Xianan University

”Nine-tails City?”

”Yang Xiao, you’re a freshman and may not be familiar with the environment. Near Biyun Mountain, there are several universities. Besides our Kongming Academy, the largest is Xianan University. We both belong to national universities, with another ten or so secundaria schools. Nine-tails City is the most prosperous place nearby, with large malls, supermarkets, hotels, etc...”

Chen Lu explained to Yang Xiao.

”Our school is north of Biyun Mountain, while the other schools are south, along with Nine-tails City. Our school’s team planned to go to Nine-tails City to find some supplies. Unexpectedly, the large malls and supermarkets there were already taken over by Xianan University. They barely found a small shop amidst the ruins and scavenged some food, only to be injured by Xianan University students. From their description, the mutation speed of Xianan University students is incredibly fast, and everyone’s attack power is much higher than ours...”

Yang Xiao paused, quickly understanding.

Xianan University students had long occupied nearby large supermarkets, restaurants, and hotels, having enough food to provide the energy needed for mutation, so naturally, their mutation speed was faster.

Yang Xiao never lacked food and never thought to look for food outside the academy, so he never inquired about the surrounding environment.

”Which team are they from? Do you know them?”

”Boss, they’re from the Accounting School, led by Zhao Gang, with over a hundred people.”

”Okay, take me to see Zhao Gang. I have something to ask him.”

Huang Wen smiled and said:

”Let’s have Qin Yu come with us. Zhao Gang is familiar with Qin Yu.”

”Oh, really?”

Yang Xiao turned to look at Qin Yu.

Qin Yu looked a bit embarrassed, glaring at Huang Wen,

”Just talking nonsense, Zhao Gang and I have only met a few times, not familiar.”

Zhao Gang was one of Qin Yu’s suitors, who had taken her out a few times. However, Qin Yu, being the school beauty, was quite aloof and only met him out of courtesy. Later, she directly rejected Zhao Gang.

The three of them arrived at Zhao Gang’s camp.

Zhao Gang was 1.80 meters tall, handsome but seemed injured, with bloodstains on his chest and a severe wound on his left arm.

Yang Xiao’s name had already spread across the entire playground. Zhao Gang naturally recognized Yang Xiao. Upon seeing Yang Xiao enter, he immediately stood up and nodded.

”Yang Xiao, why are you here?”

”How’s your injury?”

”This injury is troublesome, it hurts the bone, and now there’s no medicine. I’m worried about infection and inflammation.”

Zhao Gang directly expressed his concern.

”The Genetic Store has a medicine called Small Blood Pill, which is particularly effective for this kind of wound. Ten Crystal Coins for one, you should have someone buy it.”

Zhao Gang was pleasantly surprised but then awkwardly said:

”Our team doesn’t have many Crystal Coins. We’ve been searching for food in Nine-tails City these days and haven’t hunted Mutated Creatures. Occasionally, we killed a few, but didn’t collect many Genetic Fragments... Li Min, check how many Genetic Fragments everyone has left.”

Zhao Gang said to a companion beside him.

The young man named Li Min stepped out of the tent, inquired with the companions outside, and finally came back with 7 Genetic Fragments.

”Brother Zhao, only 7?”

Zhao Gang sighed and said:

”Li Min, why don’t you take some brothers up the mountain to hunt Mutated Creatures, help me gather ten Genetic Fragments, and then go to the Genetic Store to buy a Small Blood Pill for healing? Yang Xiao said the Small Blood Pill works wonders for treating injuries.”

”This?”

Li Min hesitated. In their recent food search in Nine-tails City, several skilled team members were killed by Xianan University students. He, Zhao Gang, and about ten others escaped with severe injuries. None had the courage to go up the mountain and kill Monsters.

Without Zhao Gang leading, these underlings dared not go up the mountain.

Zhao Gang saw Li Min’s hesitation and angrily said:

”What, can’t you even handle this? Are you unwilling to listen to me because I’m injured?”

Li Min immediately looked embarrassed and said:

”Brother Zhao, don’t misunderstand. You know, we just completed our gene mutation with limited abilities, how dare we go up the mountain?”

Zhao Gang was about to lose his temper when Yang Xiao took out a Small Blood Pill and handed it to Zhao Gang, saying:

”I have a Small Blood Pill here, and it’s not a free gift. I’ll charge you 7 Crystal Coins now, and you can repay the remaining 3 Crystal Coins later.”

Li Min heard and immediately handed the 7 Crystal Coins to Yang Xiao.

Zhao Gang thanked repeatedly, took the Small Blood Pill, and swallowed it in one gulp.

Moments later, Zhao Gang’s wounds began to heal. His complexion turned a bit rosier, and he seemed much more spirited.

Zhao Gang unbuttoned his shirt, gently stroking the healing scar on his chest, excitedly saying:

”Yang Xiao, I’ll never forget your life-saving grace. I owe you a favor, and if you ever need anything, just ask.”

Yang Xiao waved his hand and said:

”It’s not that serious. After all, I sold it to you at the regular price. Remember, you still owe me 3 Crystal Coins, so you have to repay them.”

Zhao Gang, feeling awkward, quickly said:

”Of course, don’t worry. Now that my injury is healed, I’ll rest for a day then go up the mountain to hunt Mutated Creatures. I’ll repay you within three days.”

”Hehe, no need to hurry. Hmm, I have something to ask you. I heard you were injured by Xianan University students in Nine-tails City. Can you tell me what happened? For example, their mutation and skills?”

”Sigh, don’t mention it. We suffered a crushing defeat. They only had five people, but our thirty couldn’t match them. Their strength, speed, and agility were far superior to ours...”

Zhao Gang detailed the events, and Yang Xiao, listening, was quietly alarmed.

Zhao Gang also brought another piece of news: Xianan University students have searched the area around Nine-tails City and plan to explore beyond, especially Biyun Mountain’s main peak, to hunt large Mutant Monsters.

Besides the main peak, Biyun Mountain has five peaks. The pond Yang Xiao visited days ago was just one of them.

’Competing for resources’ immediately popped into Yang Xiao’s mind. It seems Xianan University students’ next move is to contest for Genetic Fragments on Biyun Mountain.

Bidding farewell to Zhao Gang, Yang Xiao left the tent, looking thoughtfully worried.

Qin Yu glanced at Yang Xiao and said:

”Yang Xiao, are you worried Xianan University students will hunt all the Mutated Creatures on Biyun Mountain before us and seize most of the Genetic Fragment resources?”

Yang Xiao suddenly stopped, looked at Qin Yu. The girl before him was not just a pretty face—she had perceptive thoughts and good insight.

Yang Xiao nodded, somewhat gloomy, saying:

”If it’s only about competing for Genetic Fragment resources, that’s one thing. What worries me most is Xianan University students getting ahead of us in the evolutionary process, it might be hard for us to resist them in the future.”

”Really?”

Huang Wen said with some fear, though deep down, she felt it was quite possible.

”This is the end of the world, survival of the fittest. Whoever has the stronger fist is the leader. What if Xianan University students control us and demand we hand over half of the Genetic Fragments we acquire from hunting Mutated Creatures? Who among you can resist?”

”This?”

Huang Wen and Qin Yu were stunned, looking at Yang Xiao with fearful expressions.
