Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 680: Chapter 680: Numerous Doubts

Yang Yu went to support the defense troops not far from Benliang City.

With the agile steps of the Silver Teeth Clan, in less than an hour, Yang Yu saw from afar the Beastman defense troops engaging Luo Ze’s troops.

The number of Beastman soldiers still stood at five thousand, while the human troops were around four thousand.

Although the Beastmen still held a numerical advantage, they had already suffered countless injuries under the attacks of Luo Ze Elite.

Because the Luo Ze Elite coordinated splendidly, the numerous human troops merely served as a foil, restraining the Beastmen to create numerous opportunities for the elite troops to slaughter amidst the enemy ranks.

Each person’s talents and attributes vary.

A single excellent warrior could be worth countless ordinary soldiers, a fact beyond dispute.

Once top-tier power massively converged in a certain area and overwhelmed the opponent’s high-end forces with a significant numerical difference, even if the enemy had many times more troops, victory could be easily achieved.

To prevent this scenario, the giant dragons had established rules limiting groups.

Yet the dragons hoped someone would emerge from the war capable of shifting the tide, hence they provided growth-oriented rules.

These growth-oriented rules could override many others.

The Luo Ze Empire had exploited these loopholes. A very long time ago, they had found some individuals with decent potential and registered low-evaluation groups for them, followed by intense training.

The dragons probably hadn’t anticipated that after the registration, those groups would not be deployed to the battlefield for such a long time, but instead secretly kept in reserve.

Luo Ze Empire really managed to hide these trained elites for so long!

The war had been going on for about eight years. Three to four years could still be reasoned out, but if Luo Ze Empire had been executing this plan from the very beginning…

Perhaps Luo Ze Empire had aimed to eradicate Wansheng Country from the start.

Why go through such elaborate efforts?

A long time ago, there had been peace between Wansheng Country and the Luo Ze Empire, even enjoying an extended honeymoon period where there was free trade and unrestricted travel between them, all in good spirits.

Although after the war began, the Beastmen propagated that it was a conspiracy by Luo Ze Empire to make Wansheng Country let its guard down, Yang Yu did not believe that Luo Ze Empire had despised the Beastmen from the start, hated them enough to want to annihilate their country and turn the Beastmen completely into their slaves…

Yang Yu did not know where this hatred stemmed from.

If it were merely for profit, after taking over the Sailuomen Plain, forcing Wansheng Country to concede would have been more rational.

After all, many parts of Wansheng Country were simply unprofitable.

Yet, the war continued to drain resources and hurt the people, with Luo Ze Empire showing no signs of wanting to stop, entirely a kill-or-be-killed scenario.

In the past, Yang Yu might have just speculated, but from the recent chain of events, he could truly feel Luo Ze Empire’s intent to annihilate Wansheng Country.

So much so that Yang Yu even doubted if there was some deep-seated blood feud between Luo Ze Empire and Wansheng Country.

Besides that, there were still many things about the war that Yang Yu could not understand.

For example, the incident where soldiers of the Luo Ze Empire killed each other in the stronghold of East View City.

To fully grasp the underpinnings of this war, the information he had was still far from sufficient. But for now, the priority was to repel the distant enemy.

Iyas’s gaze swept over the battlefield, searching for Luo Ze Elite in purple outfits according to Yang Yu’s request,

“There are forty-one Luo Ze Elite, and four have been taken down.”

“There are forty-five in total. Only four taken down, they are indeed strong.”

Yang Yu got up from Lotcar’s back, tossed He Meng, who was behind the shield, to Bai Jin,

“Be extra careful. Prioritize dealing with those Luo Ze Elite, I believe in your strength.”

Afterwards, Yang Yu blew a whistle, and Lotcar, following the sound, slightly lowered its head to let its top become a stepping board for Yang Yu.

A silver light extended from the tips of Lotcar’s claws.

Getting close enough, Lotcar stood on its hind legs and crossed its forelimbs to deliver a Silver Light Claw Strike while Bai Jin and Iyas slightly grabbed onto Lotcar’s white fur and slid down its back onto the snowy ground.

Meanwhile, Yang Yu crouched down, leaped from Lotcar’s forehead, and rushed forward following the Silver Light Claw Strike.

The battling Luoze soldiers hadn’t had time to react when Yang Yu, under cover of the Silver Light Claw Strike, rapidly approached Luoze’s troops, targeting the weak points in their defense, and wreaked havoc again with a “blood path.”

“Wansheng Country’s reinforcements arrived really quickly.”

A young man with cyan-colored long hair thrust his spear into a Beastman’s body in front of him, tossing him into Wansheng Country’s forces, and looked towards Yang Yu,

“Colored hair and a mask, could he be the legendary strange man who forced Kui Yi’s troops to retreat? Let me go meet him.”

Saying so, Changchuan Othello picked up his spear, lightly tapped his foot on the snow, and executed “Rapid Charge,” rushing towards the newly-joined Yang Yu.

Light gathered on the spear, which grew red ethereal sawteeth, and as the spear rotated upward, Changchuan Othello’s “Sawtooth Piercing” aimed directly at Yang Yu’s face.

In the next moment, something incredible happened.

Changchuan Othello’s spear almost grazed Yang Yu’s face; the next second, Yang Yu’s shield-bearing hand swept across from his chest, turning the small shield into a blunt weapon that smashed into Changchuan Othello’s jaw.

Changchuan Othello immediately felt dizzy, got lifted off his feet, and his eyes widened,

“Such fast speed, but how will you block this move?”

The flung Changchuan Othello used his spear to prop against the ground, adjusted his stance, slid on the snow, stabilized himself, and thrust towards Yang Yu’s position.

Unperturbed, Yang Yu planted his sword into the ground, raised his shield, and executed “Shield Block,” blocking Changchuan Othello’s attack while countless thorns burst from the ground, entangling Changchuan Othello.

Because Changchuan Othello used “Rapid Charge,” his speed greatly increased, allowing him to step back several times to dodge Yang Yu’s attack.

However, the next moment, Yang Yu launched a barrage of attacks like a storm.

Both Changchuan Othello and Yang Yu were technique-oriented warriors; in a world where most people’s speed is generally low, he boasted a high speed of 700 points, making him a standout.

But this was somewhat underwhelming in front of Yang Yu, whose speed surpassed a thousand, and Yang Yu particularly enjoyed fighting high-speed but fragile opponents like Changchuan Othello.

Having acquired a valuable emergency task, Yang Yu naturally geared up to find ways to complete it.

Luo Ze Empire’s Elite might pose a challenge for others, but in a scattered battlefield one-on-one, Yang Yu was never afraid.
