Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 660: Chapter 660: Elder, Go Rest in the Back When You’re Old

The warhorse was pulled down before Chui Ye stood up from its back, leapt to the right, and landed on the snowy ground.

Before Chui Ye could stand up, a sword blade engulfed in an orange-red glow slashed towards his face.

Golden light burst forth from his armor, enveloping his entire body. At the critical moment, Chui Ye used “Golden Armor Protection,” taking the attack with his face.

But this didn’t give Chui Ye a moment to catch his breath. The blade in front of him suddenly vanished, and the next second, the blade sliced upwards in front of him, stopping sharply at the joint between his chest and abdomen, catching him right in the tiny gap of the joint and lifting him off his feet.

A strong force emanated from his chest, giving Chui Ye the illusion that his chest armor was pierced. His “Golden Armor Protection” had unexpectedly ended early!

The enemy in front of him, whose face was unclear, knew the weakness of his skill.

Chui Ye raised his hand, thrusting the Knight Spear into the ground, and executed “Rider Spear Impact.” An invisible shockwave swept out from the spear, immediately causing dirt and stones to fly.

The shadowy figure attacking Chui Ye withdrew his sword and stepped back.

As Chui Ye, whose feet left marks on the ground, finally steadied himself, he swung his long spear, dispelling the smoke, and at last saw the person who had attacked him.

It was a man with flamboyant hair and a half mask, precisely like the Colorful-haired Masked Man rumored in tales.

As Heavy Cavalry surged around him, Chui Ye’s lips slightly curled upwards; warfare was never a fight one could endure alone.

Several Heavy Cavalry broke away from the attack formation, brandishing Knight Spears towards Yang Yu.

With the sharp Knight Spears aiming straight for his chest, Yang Yu, calm and composed, lifted his shield and performed “Shield Counterattack,” causing a Heavy Knight to be injured by his own attack while Yang Yu dipped his body allowing the rest of the Knight Spears to brush past him.

Seeing this, several magicians cast magic at Yang Yu, hoping to strike him fatally.

However, Yang Yu slipped through the gaps of the Knight Spears, and a strange gleam flashed across his shield. Adjusting the angle precisely, he deflected the magic back onto the surrounding Heavy Cavalry.

The next instant, Yang Yu had disappeared from in front of Chui Ye.

Having returned to Dongmu’s side, Yang Yu smiled helplessly,

“Ah, I indeed underestimated their reflexes; I couldn’t knock him off his horse. Seems I must attempt a direct breakthrough!”

“Ha ha ha! I told you it was too forced. Anyone who can be a general must have some capability.”

Dropping the rope in his hand, Dongmu clenched fists with confidence,

“We can already win from the front! There’s no need to fret about ending this battle in an easier way. Let these humans suffer a bit and regret their actions!”

With a thunderous crash, Dongmu’s “Shattering Heavy Strike” directly flung a heavy armored demon horse, causing it to fall among the cavalry and crush several knights.

“Damn it! Get down!”

Seeing Yang Yu not attacking anymore, Chui Ye quickly got up, seizing a Heavy Knight’s warhorse and turning that knight into an unarmed Heavy Soldier,

“To resort to such despicable tactics, wait until the reinforcements arrive; then, I’ll make sure you have no grave to lie in!”

“Oh? Is that so? Well, let’s see how many of these so-called reinforcements you have left.”

Yang Yu smiled insincerely as he approached Ajiket,

“Old man, you should rest at the back now that you’re old! Leave the fighting here to us, and for every soldier they hurt, I’ll make them pay back double!”

Ajiket, clutching his trident, was at a loss for words and glanced at Dongmu, who was swinging his fists not far away.

Only after Dongmu nodded did Ajiket stare at Yang Yu for a moment before retreating into the depths of the beastman army to regroup and prepare to return to the battlefield.

Dongmu’s massive fists struck two riders as he watched Yang Yu, who was waiting for his chance under the protection of a giant wolf,

“I should’ve told you in advance, that old man you were talking about is Ajiket, the National Guardian General.”

“Eh?” Yang Yu feigned surprise, “Why didn’t you tell me sooner! If I had known, I would have shown him some respect.”

“Haha, being able to clash with the other side’s general surely isn’t a simple feat!” The more Dongmu fought, the more energized he became, “You can take that as a compliment to you!”

“Well, thank you so much, General! But I’d prefer a promotion and a raise even more!”

“That’s not something I can decide alone! Perform well, and when Wansheng Country rewards contributions, you’ll definitely have your share.”

“With the general speaking like this, I have no choice but to put in extra effort.”

Yang Yu’s sword flitted through the riders, inflicting not high damage, but he was relentless and exerted himself fully.

Choosing a frontal assault instead of cutting into the vulnerable rear ranks would diminish his experience gains a bit, but conversely, it was easier to boost his image in the army.

Yang Yu had not forgotten that beastmen had more sensitive noses than humans.

As he passed through Ajiket’s troops, he noticed many beastmen staring at him with an odd expression.

Disregarding his cool hairstyle that surely attracted attention, Yang Yu first thought that it must be his human scent confusing the beastmen.

Indeed, the beastman soldiers who first met Yang Yu and Bai Jin didn’t have a high opinion of either, irritated by their unmistakable human scent.

Only after those beastman soldiers learned of Yang Yu and Bai Jin’s story from his men did they start to see them in a new light.

Their opinions changed somewhat, but unless they saw them risking their lives for Wansheng Country with their own eyes, it was hard for them to truly believe.

Now was an excellent stage for them to earn that belief—whether others could see it or not didn’t matter, as long as the National Guardian General of Wansheng Country could.

On the frontline, Yang Yu resisted the heavy cavalry’s assault, unable to free himself to collect more experience, but Bai Jin and the others were different.

Bai Jin and Iyas climbed onto Lotcar’s back and, according to the plan, headed towards Chui Ye’s forces from the flank.

The battle had just begun, they needed to stay fully vigilant and continuously exhibit their skills on the battlefield according to Yang Yu’s plan, to become the blossoming flowers of the battlefield.

Seizing this rare opportunity, Bai Jin and Iyas were fully motivated, even He Meng, who often slacked off, was inexplicably bustling with energy.

On such a lively battlefield, continuing to lie on the sidelines like a salted fish seemed somewhat inappropriate.

To become equals with Yang Yu and able to have dialogue with them, bestowing certain favors upon them was necessary.

With this mindset, He Meng, as Yang Yu had requested, protected Bai Jin and Iyas’s safety in his absence.

Utilizing Lotcar’s powerful mobility, Bai Jin and Iyas became a mobile artillery unit.
