Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 667: Chapter 667: Decision

“Hahaha! I don’t even know what to say anymore, I didn’t expect things could turn out this way. I believe you.”

Dongmu crossed his arms and let out a hearty laugh, and both General Ajiket and Marco, understanding what Dongmu was laughing about, couldn’t help but smile as well.

The solemnity in the military camp disappeared in an instant, replaced by a joyful atmosphere.

Many officers exchanged glances, completely clueless about what had just happened, but it seemed that General Ajiket was thoroughly convinced that there was no danger with Mendelox.

If that was the case, there was nothing to worry about.

A lot of incredible things had happened in the Luo Ze Empire, and the existence of factions within humanity that leaned toward the subhumans wasn’t something absolutely unbelievable.

After laughing, Ajiket first glanced at Yang Yu, who was holding his head and seemed to have a headache, then asked for the opinions of everyone present.

Many officers expressed their respect for General Ajiket’s decision.

Wanluo initially had his doubts, but he himself was a beneficiary of the collapse of the wall.

After the eastern city wall collapsed for unknown reasons, he led his troops to charge into the enemy camp and achieved numerous military exploits, which officially secured his current position.

As long as he helped General Ajiket’s troops and gathered enough forces to rise again, he could be prominent in the siege of Benliang City and play a vital role in the achievement.

By then, he would have the qualifications to propose his demands to the Emperor and change the boring rules within his family to marry the person he loved.

To be honest, Wanluo didn’t have much of a fondness for humans.

When Xin Mang cut down the falling statues to save the children, it was clear to anyone that it was a reluctant choice made in an emergency, yet the Luo Ze Empire chose this as a pretext for war of all things.

With so many people taking a stand, General Ajiket’s attitude was very clear, and the outcome was foreseeable.

Wanluo wasn’t foolish enough to forcibly change the way others dealt with this human just because he disliked humans.

Doing so could backfire badly.

Regardless, as long as it didn’t affect his outstanding performance in the end, he was open to negotiation.

And so, the proposal to release Mendelox was almost unanimously passed by the troops.

After that, General Ajiket suggested that Mendelox tell them the locations of the interference devices, to facilitate their rapid deactivation.

But Mendelox flatly refused.

Tampering with those devices carelessly would trigger an alarm on the interference devices.

Only a professional could dismantle the complicated interference devices, deactivating them and preventing the alarm from going off simultaneously.

Fortunately, there were only five magic interference devices scattered across the plains, and Mendelox had already deactivated three. Only two more were left to fully restore communication across the plains.

However, his secret deactivation of the devices had been exposed and even reached the ears of the generals in Benliang City.

They would undoubtedly monitor those locations, and Mendelox’s true identity was bound to be revealed sooner or later.

“Before I leave, there is one more piece of important information I want to pass on to you.

This information should have been in your hands earlier, but…”

Mendelox hesitated, then finally spoke slowly,

“You are now aware of the Snowmen’s prowess. In the harsh winter, out on these plains, relying on their huge size, they are nearly invincible.

Their weakness is fire, but for some reason, on these plains during winter, fire magic just doesn’t seem to work properly.

Normal fires and bonfires, although they can burn normally, using them to fight off the massive Snowmen is almost impossible.

Their weakness may just be time.

After the middle of February, the Empire’s ice and snow will gradually melt away.

The Luo Ze Empire still hasn’t established a Teleportation Array that sends directly to the Tijilisi Mountain Range.

The Snowmen are very large, and to send all the Snowmen back to their Snow Mountain homes in spring would require considerable manpower and resources.”

Snowmen also did not enjoy being active in the warm seasons, so they would leave the plains a bit earlier before the end of winter.

“You can seize that opportunity to make an attempt.

Moreover, if you manage to occupy Benliang City, remember to thoroughly search a certain room, beneath which there may well be a hidden small Teleportation Array.

The elite troops of the Luo Ze Empire could then use Teleportation Magic to enter the city near its walls and execute a stealth attack.

There’s more information I haven’t mentioned; it’s all in this letter.

If you ultimately decide not to release me, I won’t give it to you.

I hope, in the end, you can put an end to this war.

At least to halt the inflated ambitions of the Luo Ze Empire.

Do not repeat the past mistakes of Serti.”

After speaking, a Array appeared in Mendelox’s hands from which a letter materialized.

Mendelox handed the letter to General Ajiket and then, without turning back, he strode away, vanishing into the snowy night.

The Beastmen’s keen hearing allowed them to pick up his somewhat melancholic murmur after he left,

“The Luo Ze Empire wasn’t always like this, when did it begin to change?

Indeed, was it after the discovery of those ancient ruins…

With things inside that are all too well-suited for war…

Perhaps, the nation of those ancient ruins perished in a war as well.

I didn’t want them touched, but there’s nothing to stop them now.”

…

…

Meanwhile, in the northeastern region of the Luo Ze Empire.

On a desolate plain not far from the border line with Treun, there lay a distinct research facility.

From the outside, it looked no different from an ordinary white hospital, but once inside and past a succession of deceptive rooms, one could take special staircases down to a secret laboratory underground.

There, one would find elaborate large capsules.

It seemed as though something was being cultivated inside but, because the exterior of the capsules was wrapped in dark grey metal, it was hard to get even a glimpse inside.

Each large capsule was overseen by a researcher in a white lab coat.

By peering at the dials embedded in the capsular metal shell, one could roughly ascertain the status inside.

Every so often, these researchers would record the numbers displayed on the dials, and then, as night fell…

Which is to say, now, they would press their foreheads against the dials and cling closely to them.

Instantaneously, their consciousness was drawn into the capsules.

Inside, they observed the interior conditions of the capsules.

The serene blue light was refreshing, and each researcher moved freely within the capsule as if swimming in a vast ocean.

Yet, despite this exhilarating feeling, they did not forget their duties.

Their consciousness approached the walls, found the spider-web-like blood-red paths, burrowed into them, and followed the most spacious main pathway, moving forward in the direction of various substances.

Eventually, they entered the brain of a certain organism.

There, they could sense every part of that organism’s growth status and could even observe much smaller and more microscopic structures.
