Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 673: Chapter 673: Fierce Firepower

Accompanied by a thunderous boom, the black cannonball burst from the barrel, smashed into the snow field, and in an instant, the pristine snow was stained with the colors of soil and the odor of gunpowder. Following the explosion’s impact, shrapnel flew in all directions, bursting into countless smaller projectiles.

As the cannonballs danced through the air, the front line of Beastmen estimated where the projectiles would land and dodged accordingly.

However, the artillery on the city walls, which assembled the top technology of the Luo Ze Empire, had power and firing rates far surpassing ordinary cannons. Despite many Beastmen reacting with lightning speed and employing Skills for defense, they were still caught in the ferocious blasts.

But the army of Wansheng Country did not stop because of this.

The Beastmen roared and howled as they collided head-on with the heavy cavalry of the Luo Ze Empire on the battlefield.

The Luo Ze Empire’s Magic Troop on the walls used magic in unison, instantly sweeping the attacking force with countless electric magic attacks, while the Magicians behind the Beastman Army retaliated with magical bombardment.

Deadly fireworks blossomed above both armies, and without a moment’s notice, savage energies would descend from the sky, piercing through bodies.

The firepower of both sides was matched.

The defending forces of Benliang City of the Luo Ze Empire amounted to eighty thousand, with around five thousand Magicians. Wansheng Country had a total of one hundred and ten thousand soldiers left on the frontline, with about eight thousand Magicians.

In terms of numbers, Wansheng Country had the upper hand.

However, the Magicians of the Luo Ze Empire had undergone unified and professional training and worked well together, somewhat offsetting their numerical disadvantage. And because they occupied the walls, having the high ground, they gained a certain advantage.

Wansheng Country’s soldiers suffered more from “stray bullets,” and even as soldiers fell injured around them, the Beastman Soldiers continued to charge forward, aiming to carve a path for their forces and strike at the invading Luo Ze Empire.

“Haah—”

Amidst the gunfire, a long howl rose, and seeing the Beastman Army close enough, under Fred’s leadership, the massive Snowmen sucked in gulp after gulp of cold air into their lungs and unleashed “Heavenly God’s Descent.”

The bodies of the Snowmen suddenly grew larger, soaring as tall as a two-story villa, their skin also turning as white as snow.

“Retreat.”

Under Wulan’s command, the Luoze soldiers who had just engaged with the Beastman Soldiers fell back behind the towering Snowmen.

“Earth Split.”

Fred raised both hands—fists clenched—and slammed down fiercely, causing the ground to visibly sink and a myriad of fissures to spread rapidly.

The leading attack squadron of Beastmen, hit by the shockwave, was repelled several meters, their bodies becoming unbearably heavy, as if countless Ghosts were reaching out from the cracked earth, grabbing their ankles to drag them all to Hell.

The other enlarged Snowmen also followed suit, pounding on the earth like giant drums.

The terrifying boom cleverly merged with the roar of the cannons, orchestrating a fearsome symphony.

Numerous Beastmen struggled to move, their footsteps hampered, while the gigantic Snowmen raised their arms and swept across the snowfields, clearing large fan-shaped areas in front of them.

The artillery on the walls seized this opportunity, targeting the crowds and firing round after round of cannonballs.

In an instant, the screams of the Beastmen rose and fell in waves.

Standing in the midst of the troops, General Yi Tianwen unfurled his folded fan, and the soldiers in front of him swiftly cleared a path.

With a fierce swipe of the fan forward, several azure Wind Blades skimmed across the ice field, carrying the chill of winter, striking Fred one after another. Yet, Fred stood unaffected, as if nothing had happened, receiving Yi Tianwen’s Attack with his robust pectoral muscles.

Yang Yu followed behind Dongmu as the second wave of the siege force, and through his panel, he could clearly see all of Fred’s attributes and Status.

General Yi Tianwen had only scraped off a thin layer of Fred’s blood, without damaging any vital parts.

The Snow Leopard General, Ice Spring, led a troop, bypassing the Snowmen and launching an attack on the right flank of Luoze’s right-wing forces.

“Pierce!”

A streak of silver light flashed across the sharp tip of the spear as Ice Spring’s Long Spear surged with unstoppable momentum.

“Unfallen Fortress, Skill Block”

Mounted on his steed, Wulan wielded his Knight Spear and met Ice Spring’s attack head-on.

Their Knight Spear, akin to a drill bit, and the slender yet powerful Long Spear collided, producing a crisp metallic clang.

This bout left neither with the upper hand. Ice Spring immediately retracted his Long Spear, ready to deploy the next skill against Wulan.

Dodging the attack, Wulan simply leapt from his horse and engaged Ice Spring in hand-to-hand combat.

“Despite being somewhat prepared, I never expected it to turn out this dreadful, completely mired in a tough battle.”

Dongmu led his troops on horseback toward the center of the battlefield,

“The Snowman Army will be contained by us and the Silver Teeth Clan. The other units cover the advance of the troops. Set aside the assault on the city for now, and look for ways to inflict as much damage as possible on the human’s front-line army!”

Without first beating back these armies, even if they succeeded in taking Benliang City, their forces would suffer heavy losses from the combined attacks of the army and the Snowmen.

The Snowmen, having invoked Heavenly God’s Descent, were each like a War God, every move having the potential to permanently alter the battlefield.

With no enemies in sight, several large Snowmen simply dug up the earth next to them, mixing the mud and snow to form mud balls, which they hurled at a low trajectory like bowling balls.

The mud balls gathered other snow and ice from the ground, growing larger as they rolled, sweeping up Beastmen who were either too slow or too focused on dodging the cannons, becoming part of the growing snowball.

The areas from where the Snowmen had dug mud now became shallow trenches. Luo Ze Empire’s Army fought utilizing these trenches, striking with their Sword Blade at any Wansheng Country soldiers who tried to leap over.

Leaping down from his horse, Dongmu swung his fists, took a deep breath, and delivered a solid punch forward. A Snowman’s hurled mud ball instantly shattered into pieces.

Dongmu’s troops, without slowing for a moment, continued to press forward.

“Prioritize the survival of the troops and look for an opportunity to attack again.”

With a parting admonition, Yang Yu casually pulled He Meng out from Lotcar’s mane and tucked her into his Shield.

This time, He Meng stayed firmly in the gap between Yang Yu’s arm and Shield, not attempting to climb out as she had before.

Intentionally or not, He Meng also sensed the cruelty of war on the battlefield.

Originally, she thought if she encountered any trouble and acted in time, there would be no issues whatsoever.

But, Yang Yu’s growth had truly surpassed He Meng’s expectations, the enemies they faced growing stronger and more bizarre by the day.

He Meng was the Princess of the Slime Kingdom, having grown up there and only visiting the surrounding villages like a leisurely stroll through a garden when times were idle.

She never imagined she would leave her birth Kingdom in such circumstances, let alone form a bond with this man.

The less than a year of their time together had far exceeded He Meng’s eight years of experiences in the Slime Kingdom.

Watching Yang Yu becoming increasingly formidable, He Meng felt the sensation of her own status rapidly diminishing within the team.

At this rate, she truly feared becoming an expendable pet!
