Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 664: Chapter 664: Are there others coming to help?

Due to consecutive years of campaigning, Wansheng Country had lost a significant number of talents.

The Lu Hua Army and General Dongmu were also not generals at the beginning; they were merely leading their troops when the generals, either died in battle or were captured, which allowed them to rise to their positions.

General Marco also benefited from this.

Previously, he had been an ordinary warrior among Ajiket’s troops, hoping to use his own hands to repay his country and someday become a person like Ajiket.

With each outbreak of brutal warfare, the strong Marco achieved impressive military achievements, and his military rank unconsciously rose with the tide.

By the time he came to his senses, he had already become a general.

Regrettably, Marco, while in a high position, increasingly felt that his abilities did not match his position.

He always strove to act like a general should, learning from Ajiket as he commanded his troops.

But the more he did so, the wider he felt the gap between himself and Ajiket.

Hearing Yang Yu’s awakening words, Marco bit his lower lip tightly, clenching the meat soup in his hand, his body uncontrollably trembling.

Such a simple thing, and he had so easily forgotten it.

Due to his admiration for Ajiket, he had forgotten his main duty.

Yang Yu smiled at Marco,

“General Marco must have been favored by countless important people to become a general.

The general is still young and has a lot of room for growth—the expectation is for you to grow and become an independent general.

People like you, General, are certainly admired by many.

Just like me.

But while I say admire, I just want to climb to your position.

When the time comes, we of a similar age might yet be competitors.

Don’t fall from that position then.”

Reserving the antagonist’s competitor’s spot in advance, Yang Yu took a step forward.

Leaving only Marco to sort out his thoughts in the cold wind.

After having a meal and organizing the troops for rest, Yang Yu returned to his own camp to confirm the day’s battle results.

Utilizing the enemy’s armor in battle had a good effect, especially when soldiers dressed in Luoze armor infiltrated Luoze’s troops.

Many Luoze soldiers hesitated for a moment when they attacked, misjudging the beastmen, who appeared at first to be allies.

Just a few seconds, but those few seconds often determined who died first.

The losses on the Wansheng Country side were far less than anticipated, for this reason.

Opening the “Emergency Aid” Task, below one could see the current progress in numbers.

Unless aid was completed for other Beastman Armies, the system would display the casualties of those being rescued.

Including Ajiket’s troops, the West Fifth Army aid force, and various other rescued by the Central Recovery Army totaling over thirty thousand people, they only needed a little over ten thousand more to reach fifty thousand.

As for experience, Yang Yu had upgraded from LV84 to LV87 before the battle; the rate of leveling up was extraordinarily fast, practically like riding a rocket.

Spring was just over a month away, and he should be able to smoothly reach level ninety. After that, he could gather Warm Fire Stones from the Stripe Guardian to refine sugar cubes and further enhance his level.

In the team, Bai Jin’s leveling up was the speediest. Unconsciously, she had become the first person to break through level ninety.

[Bai Jin

Level: LV90

Race: Human (Civilian) HP: 5691/5691 MP: 860/8571 Stamina: 901/2565

Main Profession: Magician

Strength 229, Defense 372, Intelligence 2013, Special Defense 985, Agility 406, Endurance 582, Charm 10, Luck 10

Resistance: Curse Resistance 50%, Magic Resistance 20%

As his level increased, Bai Jin finally broke through 2000 intelligence, needing only one Attack Magic to knock down a regular soldier.

However, the Luo Ze Empire also had magicians who could use a skill called “Magic Resistance”, significantly reducing the power of nearby magic.

What would have taken one skill could now require two to three skills to defeat a soldier.

It’s a pity that he was a warrior, not a true assassin.

With the enemy well guarded and unable to break through to the back line, Bai Jin and Iyas didn’t need any help to freely cut through the enemy.

When Yang Yu was about to tidy up and go to sleep, he heard a guard’s voice outside the tent,

“General Tu Dou, a troop is approaching us, General Dongmu sent me to inform you.”

“Is it the opposing side’s reinforcements making contact?”

“No, it seems to be a lone Beastman Army that has approached us on their own.”

“Is that so…”

It turns out they’ve come to them proactively; the Beastman Army wasn’t just sitting ducks after all.

Probably the keen-smelling beastmen had sniffed out their trail and found them here, but other scenarios cannot be ruled out.

Just as Yang Yu was about to rest, he immediately jumped out of the tent, joined the other officers in meeting with Ajiket and Dongmu, and welcomed the approaching troops.

In the vast snowy field, a young man with lion-like ears rode a large bear-like demon, leading his troops step by step closer to Yang Yu’s camp.

In the light of the fire, Yang Yu could see a gaunt middle-aged human man with his hands bound, being led by the man on the bear with a long rope, struggling forward through the snow.

The human man wore a white fur coat and kept his head drooping silently.

It wasn’t until before reaching the actual camp that he slowly lifted his head; his deep-set eyes had blackness spreading around them, and his cheeks were as pale as the snow, as if they could freeze at any moment. However, his eyes were fiery and lively, reflecting the surrounding campfire.

“East Second Army assistance troops, here to assist.”

Jumping down from the demon bear, Wanluo of the Blood Lions introduced himself.

Yang Yu could see an unprecedented excitement on his face, as if he were already seeing a bright future.

Seeing this man, Yang Yu didn’t spend much time remembering that he was the man who had intended to pursue Xin Mang but had reluctantly gotten engaged instead.

“East Second Army.” Not to mention General Dongmu, even the National Guardian General seemed somewhat surprised, “So far away, why send troops to expedition?”

“Upon hearing that the Central Forces failed in Benliang City, the East First and East Second Armies immediately decided to abandon seizing parts of the city and dispatched some troops to assist the Central Recovery Army. Our originally intended rescue target was in the area east of Benliang City,”

Wanluo explained,

“But considering the West Fifth Army, where the towering city walls make it difficult to reach the western regions for search operations, they dispatched us to assist instead.”

“So that’s the case.” Ajiket nodded and immediately inquired about the news of the disconnected eastern troops, “Before your official action, I want to know, how many people have been rescued in the east at all.”

“Until I left, roughly around fifty thousand people gathered, and from what I understood, it should be roughly at its limit. My superior asked me to convey…”

Wanluo paused,

“‘To conquer Benliang City, we need to gather enough people within a specific time frame, at least surviving a hundred thousand people among the Central Forces, to have the confidence to retake East View City.’ Of course, whether we fight at the end still depends on the Grand General.”
