Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

”Moreover, if it weren’t for me, the entire Empire might not have any research linking phase technology and dimensional infection before phase technology is developed.”

”If people like you can’t make the connection, the result might be the prolonged impact of dimensional infection for quite a long time.”

Chen Ming’s words were very clear, and those present agreed with what he said.

The Empire is so vast that even people of the same level might not meet even once in their lifetime.

But the Star Realm leader of Cai Mo suddenly asked, ”How can you prove what you said is correct?”

This was Chen Ming’s first encounter with the Cai Mo Star Realm leader.

It was clear that he cared deeply about this matter, and his attitude showed a sincere hope to believe it’s true.

But he has to be responsible for the Star Realm, so he must question.

The president echoed from the side, ”He is our Spiritual Ability Association’s second-in-command responsible for researching dimensional infection. I am the first-in-command.”

The Star Realm leader didn’t let the president’s words sway him and firmly stated, ”Identity doesn’t prove anything. Humans make mistakes.”

Chen Ming felt that the Star Realm leader’s words were meant for both him and himself.

But Chen Ming would not make mistakes on matters already verified.

And he had previously thought of a method that others could accept.

”We can conduct an interaction experiment between phase space and dimensional infection.”

”Phase space can suppress the mark on me, and of course, it can suppress any other dimensional infection-related things.”

”More specifically?”

”It’s very simple. Find a pregnant woman from an area with a high mutation rate, bring her to phase space, let her live there, and observe the fetus in her womb.”

Someone brought by the director of the Ship Research Institute raised a hand to ask, ”Isn’t the mutation from dimensional infection supposed to start once one is pregnant? Can mutations that have already begun be experimented on? If the pregnancy occurs in phase space, there will be many biases, making the experiment meaningless.”

Chen Ming responded, ”The mutation period of dimensional infection is not simply when infected that mutation occurs.”

”Mutation needs to wait until the embryo develops to the point of producing brain neurons and a weak sense of self-awareness to occur.”

The same person asked again, ”But doesn’t that mean dimensional infection doesn’t affect the embryo earlier? Can the experiment still proceed?”

”It’s not as you think. In fact, at an earlier time, the fetus is already influenced.”

”According to records from our Association’s research, all fetuses in dimensional infection areas, no, all fertilized eggs, have already been impacted.”

”Even if the pregnant woman is moved outside the Empire, as long as the fetus develops to when brain neurons appear, the mutation will still occur.”

”So we need to find a fetus that hasn’t developed brain neurons yet, send it and the pregnant woman to phase space for a period, and see if mutation occurs after the neurons develop.”

Someone brought by the Star Realm leader opposed Chen Ming’s idea, ”That’s too slow, and it’s hard to find pregnant women.”

”Due to the mass occurrence of deformed infants earlier, many regions have already started government-sponsored free abortion policies to prevent the birth of deformed infants or the death of pregnant women due to fetal deformity.”

”With a one hundred percent probability of mutation in newborns, who would want to give birth?”

”Even with eighty to ninety percent probability, it’s the same. Only near the Empire’s borders, where the probability is thirty to forty to fifty, people might take a chance.”

What was said by the person brought by the Star Realm leader was indeed correct.

Listening to something like forced abortions across one or even dozens of star realms to prevent the birth of newborns is somewhat horrifying.

But some things must be done.

With opposition, Chen Ming chose to directly tackle the issue: ”There are faster methods. Artificially create dimensional infection, then send the source into phase space for testing. Who dares to try?”

”Isn’t there a safer way?”

Chen Ming couldn’t help but smile inside; indeed, only by tackling the issue head-on will people truly listen to him.

”The source of dimensional infection in Cai Mo Star Realm is already dead, and all derivatives and derivative individuals should also soon follow suit. As of today, there’s a high probability none are still alive.”

”Dimensional infection is indeed dangerous, but unless new dimensional infection is created, in my view, we can only test through pregnant women affected by dimensional infection.”

While everyone present was silently pondering Chen Ming’s proposal,

The Star Realm leader, who had been silent since asking questions earlier, suddenly spoke again, ”No, actually, there is another way.”
