Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

After all, what he mainly wanted to do next was to communicate with the Phase Giant Beast.

And communication required sound.

Although when the time came he might still need to solve the problem of transmitting sound, since apart from interfering with a ship’s Radiant Energy System, the medium of Phase Space had so far shown no additional special effects in current research.

So these media couldn’t carry sound, and if he wanted to talk to the Phase Giant Beast, anything Chen Ming sent over—whether a ship’s robot or some other device—would definitely be in danger.

So Chen Ming’s idea was to rely only on the sound‑transmission equipment the director had given him.

That way, even if something went wrong, his losses would be smaller.

Seeing Chen Ming looking thoughtful, the director didn’t continue.

But while they were waiting, he suddenly noticed that Chen Ming’s gaze was no longer that of someone deep in thought; it was fixed on the Phase Ship conducting the experiment in the distance. Clearly, Chen Ming had already finished working through whatever he’d been thinking about.

So he seized the moment to ask Chen Ming, ”Did your robots feel anything special when they entered Phase Space?”

Chen Ming withdrew his gaze from the Phase Ship, turned to the director, and said, ”They did, and I think it’s worth mentioning.”

Even if the director hadn’t asked now, Chen Ming would have brought it up himself after the experiment ended.

Because when Phase Space clashes with the Crimson Dimension, there are a lot of angles worth talking about.

”But I want to ask first: is Phase Space connected to the dimension that caused the dimensional infection?”

The director was stunned by Chen Ming’s question. ”Why are you suddenly talking about dimensional infection?”

”Because I think the two are somewhat alike.”

The director thought carefully about what Chen Ming had said, but in his view, Phase Space and the dimension that caused the dimensional infection weren’t deeply connected.

Instead, Superspace and Phase Space were more similar.

So he could only say, ”I don’t know. At present we don’t have any data on that, nor have we conducted any related research.”

”Our Legion is mainly focused on developing Phase Ships. The derivative Phase Technology spin‑offs are all being handled by other collaborative institutes working with us.”

Chen Ming’s expression grew more serious. ”I see. In that case, I think I need to get a few people to come listen to what I’m going to say next.”

From Chen Ming’s tone, the director could sense a note of gravity.

He knew very well that if Chen Ming was talking about calling people in, they definitely wouldn’t be ordinary staff.

Most likely, when Chen Ming’s robots entered Phase Space aboard the Phase Ship, they picked up something that was absolutely linked to the dimensional infection. Otherwise, Chen Ming wouldn’t have bothered to ask him that question about dimensional infection.

If Phase Space was indeed connected to dimensional infection, then what Chen Ming was about to say would be extremely important.

Once the director understood that, he took the initiative and suggested to Chen Ming, ”Do you want me to help contact some people as well?”

Chen Ming hadn’t expected the director to bring that up on his own.

He’d originally thought he’d need to say more to convince the director.

He didn’t expect the director to have already figured it out ahead of time.

But instead of immediately insisting the director go call people, Chen Ming pointed at the experiment being conducted nearby and asked, ”Won’t this side be a problem?”

”It’s fine. My two deputies can handle this.”

”Good. Then try to find people who are involved with dimensional infection and Phase Space Technology. We don’t need many, just those who can actually make decisions on some matters.”

Chen Ming didn’t feel the situation was that urgent anyway—after all, urgency wouldn’t help.

Before he discovered the link between Phase Space and the Crimson Dimension, Phase Space and dimensional infection were, in the eyes of everyone in the Empire, two completely unrelated phenomena. Using Chen Ming’s discovery as a basis for follow‑up research and analysis wasn’t something where moving faster would speed up the overall progress.

That was why Chen Ming had originally planned to wait until the experiment was over and the work was done, then talk to the director about it.

But since the director brought it up himself, and even went to help recruit people, Chen Ming didn’t mind speeding things up a bit.

After arranging who would be in charge of the subsequent experiments, the director took Chen Ming back to the Space Station of the Ship Research Institute and set up a conference room.

On the way, Chen Ming contacted the president, and the president quickly agreed to attend the meeting.

Then he used He Gu to get in touch with the director of the Spiritual Ability Research Institute. They also agreed without any objections, though according to He Gu, the Spiritual Ability Research Institute wasn’t too pleased that Chen Ming had gone to the Ship Research Institute and was calling their people over for a meeting. But it wasn’t a big deal.

Next, Chen Ming also called Bai Quan and Qiu Bowen.

Although Bai Quan and Qiu Bowen seemed to be quite busy with the information he’d provided on the Mechanical Race, Chen Ming now had new intel to share, so they had to come.

In short, Chen Ming felt he’d contacted everyone he should. The rest depended on how seriously the people he’d summoned took the situation he’d briefly outlined while reaching out.

Meanwhile, the director said he had called in all the other heads involved in cooperative Phase Ship research.

But since dimensional infection was primarily overseen by the president, and Chen Ming had already contacted the president, the director hadn’t reached many people on that front.

It didn’t really matter.

However, once Qiu Bowen learned what kind of topic Chen Ming was going to address, he contacted the Star Realm Lord of the Cai Mo Star Realm—the one who had previously faked his death.
