Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

You could say that, explained in a more scientific way, after the Transformation process these mechanical components also contain biological cells from an Insect Race individual.

Explained in a more Spiritual Energy way, it just means Chen Ming and the Insect Queen’s Spiritual Energy are this outrageous.

Anyway, while this already-monstrous Insect Race individual can call upon the Insect Queen’s Spiritual Energy, the Insect Queen can still control it.

Chen Ming’s Spiritual Energy works the same; he can directly use Spiritual Energy to control this monster, to perform Maintenance on it, to carry out Transformation.

Both its mechanical parts and its biological parts.

He could even use deep Maintenance Spiritual Energy.

Of course, Chen Ming didn’t do that.

He’s here to run tests, not to show off Spiritual Energy.

He wants to see the result of a failed experiment, to summarize experience from the failure, not have a failed result suddenly vanish so that he learns nothing from it.

Though you can say the experiment did fail, given what was Manufactured is indeed a useless monster.

But you can also say it succeeded.

Because from this crippled monster, Chen Ming can see possibilities for future development.

It perfectly blends the strengths of machinery and biology.

And it can benefit from both sides; it’s just that, because the facilities are damaged, it’s not particularly impressive. Its value has already been demonstrated.

Chen Ming had already had this kind of idea before: combine machinery and biology, just never had a suitable chance to try and realize it.

Didn’t expect this kind of facility to complete a preliminary experiment and verify its feasibility.

He also found two sparks of inspiration from this failed result in front of him.

For example, the Insect Race biological buildings he’s had no real progress on.

Right now the Larva Hatching Pool technology the Insect Queen put together is basically stable; she doesn’t need to personally lay eggs for every single larva anymore.

But the research progress on further Worker Insect breeding rooms is very poor, not to mention combat Insect Race units.

Because the Insect Race has a huge variety of types, complex functions, and different periods require different quantities. The number of different breeding room types a single Insect Nest needs is ridiculous.

So progress is slow.

The Energy Crystal Insect breeding room research progress is actually quite fast, though.

However, Chen Ming has already sold Energy Crystal Technology to the Legion. From here on, he doesn’t need his own production; just living off dividends is enough, no effort required, which is kind of awkward.

But Chen Ming’s new idea should be able to make up for those other Worker Insect breeding rooms.

Biological buildings really are hard to handle, but if it’s just cultivating a specific kind of biological building, the difficulty is a whole different story.

Chen Ming feels he can totally first use machinery to Manufacture suitable facilities for cultivating Worker Insects, then let the Insect Queen Transform them into biological buildings.

Since the Insect Queen can Transform a Cruiser, then a small building shouldn’t be a big deal.

This is something Chen Ming thinks the Insect Queen can absolutely be asked to try.

As for the other idea that just popped into Chen Ming’s head, it’s to implant various mechanical devices, such as prosthetic bodies, into Insect Race units to boost their combat power.

But it’s only an idea; he has no intention of actually carrying it out.

Because: cost.

The Insect Race only needs to eat to reproduce.

Whereas installing mechanical gear and prosthetics on these Insect Race units means real, tangible investments and also time.

That would massively raise the cost of producing Insect Race units, meaning the Insect Race loses part of its edge.

Plus, the Insect Race’s raw strength is already high, and with the Insect Queen’s Spiritual Energy amplification, their overall power is not lower than some mechanical frameworks.

But if the Insect Race turns into machinery...

If it’s Transformation done by a Mechanical Spiritual Creatures conversion device, then maybe Spiritual Energy can affect the mechanical parts.

But if it’s directly implanting prosthetics, whether Spiritual Energy can still work is uncertain.

And after being thoroughly Transformed from biological into mechanical via a facility, whether Spiritual Energy can still take effect is also uncertain.

So even though many metals have higher strength than Insect Race carapaces, and even exceed the Insect Queen’s enhanced body.

Chen Ming still won’t lightly try implanting prosthetics into Insect Race units.

At most, Chen Ming would only use this tech on some elite Forbidden Guard Insect Race units that the Insect Queen might need.

Or... use it on the Insect Race’s top-tier Biological Spaceships.

Whichever it is, this technology definitely won’t see use in the short term anyway.

And they have to wait until the Insect Queen Awakening from Evolution, then talk.

For now, just continue cultivating this half-mechanical, half-biological monster for another two days, see if more new things can be studied from it.

Chen Ming plans to call this half-mechanical, half–Insect Race creature ”Sample Zero,” and all subsequent research can start with it.

At the same time, Chen Ming also plans to keep using and testing this damaged Spiritual Creatures Transformation facility, keep throwing more Insect Race units into it.

See if, with the device damaged, it’s possible to cultivate a true mechanical Insect Race.

However, before starting the next step, there’s one more problem Chen Ming needs to solve.

Why doesn’t this half-biological, half-mechanical Sample Zero have a single [Mechanical Enlightenment Nerve]?
