Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

About half an hour later, the director brought Chen Ming the news that everything was ready.

Chen Ming’s two robots had already been sent to the two phase ships.

The guard level phase ship looked quite ordinary, just like a typical experimental ship.

However, the destroyer level phase ship was somewhat more interesting.

Chen Ming could clearly see that this experimental ship was designed towards a transport ship.

Indeed, phase ships have a tremendous advantage in transportation, mobility, and self-protection that no other ship possesses.

Once inside phase space, only enemies also in phase space could cause harm.

Moreover, transport ships are indeed easier to develop compared to combat ships.

In the early stages of experimentation, focusing on such types is indeed a reasonable choice.

Due to the ship being disorganized, Chen Ming’s robot could see that inside the ship, large spaces were occupied by phase coils with special designs, exposed in bunches, giving the impression they might leak electricity at any moment.

However, it’s not a big problem. The director and the team are the main figures in phase ship research. If they don’t see an issue, Chen Ming certainly doesn’t either.

Moreover, the most important thing now is that the two phase ships have started operating.

On the exposed phase coils, a purple halo appeared at the boundary between phase space and the normal universe environment, somewhat similar to the color of superspace but more vivid.

Soon, under the collaborative function of different devices, the two phase ships pulled into phase space.

In an instant.

Chen Ming received two pieces of news.

One good and one bad.

The good news was that Chen Ming’s spiritual energy was not interrupted even in phase space, allowing perfect control over the robots.

The bad news.

Was that Chen Ming, upon seeing phase space outside the ship, which looked almost indistinguishable from the normal universe,

Felt a pressure as if being at the ocean floor from the robots in phase space,

Even though it was just the robots, the pressure transmitted to Chen Ming, weighing heavily on his brain.

But having grown accustomed to the pressure from the Spiritual Stone, this pressure posed no trouble for Chen Ming.

His expression unchanged, he carefully perceived what could be causing such pressure in phase space.

Finally, Chen Ming unexpectedly discovered a fissure connecting to the crimson dimension in his consciousness space was mysteriously closed, unlike before when there was still a gap leaking dimensional power.

Chen Ming immediately temporarily severed his control over the two robots in phase space.

At the moment control was cut, the pressure Chen Ming felt disappeared, and the fissure to the crimson dimension reopened, slowly granting Chen Ming spiritual energy.

Chen Ming reconnected with his robots, and the fissure to the crimson dimension shut again, bringing back that pressure.

Exactly, phase space was suppressing the crimson dimension.

This was something Chen Ming entirely hadn’t expected.

Phase space and the crimson dimension were related, and surprisingly, in a conflict, phase space even suppresses the power of the crimson dimension.

Of course, this could be because the fissure in Chen Ming’s consciousness space is just a crack, hence being suppressed.

Though phase space and the crimson dimension being in conflict is certain.

But why?

Why would phase space and the crimson dimension, two unrelated dimensions, conflict?

Chen Ming only understood the very basic concept of the crimson dimension, and about phase space, only what the director had just told him.

He couldn’t answer this question at all.

Yet both crimson dimension and phase space were very important to him.

The crimson dimension is a powerful source of spiritual power and a library for further enhancing his spiritual energy.

Phase space could very likely become the main development direction for ships in the future; the foundation of Chen Ming’s capability lies in ships, and he couldn’t abandon phase space’s existence.

Their conflict was remarkably peculiar.

Chen Ming had to find a way to understand the underlying reason.

But both were troublesome existences. Neither was something Chen Ming could grasp in a short period.

He could only slightly modify his plan, spending more time at the Ship Research Institute.

And later find a suitable opportunity to attempt entering the crimson dimension a second time.

The crimson dimension is a dimension filled with ”knowledge.” As long as one enters and comes out alive, knowledge related to spiritual energy and the crimson dimension naturally fills one’s consciousness.

By entering several times, Chen Ming could eventually discover the reason behind the crimson and phase conflict.

Speaking of which.

Chen Ming suddenly seemed to understand the situation with the phase giant beast.

The phase giant beast, as a creature from phase space, is likely related to his previous contact with the crimson dimension.

He then recalled the emotions contained in the voice of the phase giant beast.

Alertness, desire, curiosity, anger, fear.

These emotions were likely directed not just at him but towards his connection with the crimson dimension.

What exactly does the phase giant beast want to do?

Fortunately, Chen Ming couldn’t hear the phase giant beast’s voice now; otherwise, he feared it might soon appear at the Phase Research Institute.

He continued to look calmly toward the director next to him.

The director suddenly handed him a pair of light purple glasses, signaling Chen Ming to put them on.

Chen Ming accepted the glasses while asking, ”Have there been any manned experiments before?”

”Yes, first with animals, then with humans.”

”Were there any accidents?”

”None, everything was normal. Entering phase space caused no discomfort, indistinguishable from the normal universe, and subsequent medical checks were entirely problem-free.”

”I see.”

That pressure was indeed uniquely targeting the crimson dimension on him, not applied equally to everyone.

Quite interesting.

Chen Ming didn’t say much, putting on the glasses, asking, ”What’s the purpose of these glasses?”

”Glasses made from phase resonant lens can observe special light signals emitted by phase ships in phase space through specific resonant frequencies; look at the location of the phase ships.”

Chen Ming turned to look at where the two phase ships disappeared. In the void, deep purple light trails resembling shadows marked the positions of the phase ships.

Chen Ming lifted the glasses, observing with naked eyes.

The light trails immediately vanished.

He put the glasses back down, and the light trails reappeared in his vision.

The director next to him reminded, ”These glasses and phase ships can both adjust different resonance bands; only when matched can they mutually observe, for times when enemies uncover our band.”

”Phase ships can also turn off this marking display anytime to hide completely.”

Chen Ming looked at a few tiny buttons on the edge of the glasses and randomly pressed one, changing the frequency observable by the glasses.

The marking light trails of the phase ships afar disappeared again.

Chen Ming took off the glasses, carefully observing their structure,

But like with phase ships, he didn’t understand them.

Soon, the phase ships temporarily left phase space, beginning preparations for multiple subsequent repeat experiments.

Chen Ming withdrew his gaze from the phase ships, looked at the director, and asked, ”Is there currently only phase ships as a method to enter phase space?”

”If you’re referring to ships and people, indeed only through phase ships.”

”But for other things, it’s not certain.”

”What else is there?”
