High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1943: Chapter 164: Outside the Hunting Ground

As the mutated Getrassi launched a fierce charge like cavalry.

Outside the light path illuminated by the ’Little Stars’, in the deep night at the edge of the hunting ground, several figures draped in black robes and wearing raven masks silently watched the young hunting team—some were holding notepads recording the Getrassi’s reactions, some were measuring magical fluctuations with instruments, and others were using crystal balls to capture every frame of the scene.

Everyone had something to do, except for one short man.

”Why did we just need to replenish the potion?” the short masked raven asked softly to his partner beside him, ”I remember that the No. 3 Potion lasts for a solid four hours.”

”If you carefully observed the senior’s operations, you would have realized that what we replenished wasn’t the No. 3 Potion.” The companion bit the tip of the feather pen, frowned at the distance, then looked at the content on his notepad, and answered impatiently.

”What? Is that so?” The short raven mask exclaimed in surprise, immediately pulling out a small notebook and a feather pen from his chest pocket, quickly recording.

The other raven masks slightly sighed in relief and continued their tasks.

”Just now...”

The short raven mask had just started to speak when the tall raven mask in the lead interrupted, ”We replenished the No. 7 Potion just now, which enhances physical strength and magic power, but the cost is double the life depletion... this means this group of Getrassi only has two hours of life left.”

”Ah... oh.” The short raven mask was stunned and quickly noted these words in his notebook, underlining the potion label with the feather pen.

He closed the notebook and looked into the distance.

Deep in the hunting ground, at the end of that light path, seven young wizards were quickly casting a series of differently colored spells, trying to block the charging Getrassi.

But no attack could stop the frenzied advance of the horse creatures.

Exploding spells and shattering talismans intermingled, faintly accompanied by the loud shouts of those young wizards. The night breeze brushed by, though wearing a raven mask, the short wizard still felt the fur on his cheeks stand on end.

Uncertain if it was the subtle magic power mixed in the night breeze playing tricks or the midnight chill seeping through the mask.

When the young hunting team at the end of the light path was forced to retreat once again.

The short wizard wearing a raven mask could no longer hold back, nervously glanced around, and quietly asked his companion beside him, ”This time... why are we letting the test subject attack the school’s students?”

”It was an accident.” The tall wizard in the lead answered softly, ”They just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time, choosing the wrong prey.”

At this point, he slightly frowned, ”Theoretically, such mistakes shouldn’t occur... The diviner in the laboratory confirmed that those young wizards and the Getrassi should not have any interaction.”

”Since it’s a mistake... we can come back at another time!” The short wizard’s voice was slightly anxious, ”...like tomorrow? Tomorrow is Saturday, those students definitely won’t be there.”

”There’s no time.” The leader turned his head, eyes under the raven mask appearing bright, ”We have no time, the professor has no time... the school won’t give us any more time. Initially, we thought the revelations from the newly promoted Legendary Wizard would cause some turmoil in the school, but we didn’t expect the school’s response to be so decisive. No openings given.”

Upon hearing this explanation, the raven masks fell silent together.

In the night breeze, only the subtle rustling sound of pen tips brushing against parchment could be heard.

...

...

”Zap! (Shatter)”

The towering black giant horse opened its menacing jaws, revealing overlapping sharp teeth, uttering a wicked curse, its tooth tips glinting with a chilling light.

Spells from the wizards and flying talisman paper shattered under that cold light, transforming into scattered light points.

Though somewhat disheartening, it couldn’t shake the conviction of the young wizards of the Absolution Hunting Team to counterattack.

”Ge Zhitianxi, punish this beast!”

”I’m a Xuan Huang Horse!”

”Wolf struggling its whiskers, carry on its tail!”

”Walk hesitant and unstable at heart!”

A myriad of colored spells rose and fell, thick vines sprouted within the void, pulsating with diverse magical fluctuations, intertwining like Heaven Luo Ground Net.

A blue giant roared like thunder, grabbing boulders and large logs, hurling them at the pursuers; occasionally, a shadow or a glint of sword light flashed through the darkness, severing the chaser’s legs and feet.

”ORGE! (Rage)”

”Devolve! (Decay)”

”Earthen Might! (Power of the Earth)”

The mutated Getrassi, enraged, launched charge after charge, roaring curses filled with dark power.

Webs woven from spells were easily torn apart.

Severed legs grew back during their charge, becoming as nimble as before.

The formation of the Absolution Hunting Team shifted direction repeatedly, attempting to disengage and leave the hunting ground, yet was repeatedly obstructed by the maddened Getrassi.

As time passed and magic power dwindled, the young hunters grew increasingly restless.

”Heh!”

”Do they intend not to let us out?”

When Zheng Qing reached once more into the grey cloth bag, failing to find a talisman but feeling the cold barrel of the charm gun, he couldn’t help but clench his teeth, a faint smirk appearing on his face. He glanced at the hunting ground’s exit, ”Originally, we only intended to leave quietly and hand them over to the school... That would be best for them.”

Saying so, he raised his hand, touching his earlobe once more.

The little snake in his earlobe hole seemed eager to move as well.

The young scholarship student smirked, ”...But since they’ve pushed us too far, refusing to behave, they can’t blame us. Everyone, get ready!”

The other six young wizards slightly eased their attacks and looked toward Zheng Qing as one.

The captain of the Absolution Hunting Team took a deep breath and shouted, ”Change from the Xi Suxing formation to the Ji su formation, move backwards, cross the Silent River, head in a direction away from the School Guardian Array... Since they don’t want to resolve this within the school, we’ll settle it outside!”

The other hunters of the Absolution Hunting Team exchanged glances, nodding slightly.

Mister Wolfman’s eyes flashed a hint of red, chuckling lowly, ”I like this attitude.”

”As long as we don’t have to compensate the school, it’s up to you.” The red-faced male wizard adjusted the glove on his hand, breathing a sigh of relief—he had been worried that Zheng Qing would act impulsively and fire the charm gun recklessly.

The diviner of the Absolution Hunting Team, as always, took charge of battlefield coordination.

”The Ji su formation is of the water element and utilizes the formation of Ji water leopard.”

Xiao Xiao adjusted his glasses, his calm voice resonating in every hunter’s ears, ”This is entirely at odds with the House fire pig of the Xi Suxing formation. Therefore, this time, the Monitor will stand at the main position, with the gentleman and me at the assistant positions, the swordsman sharp at the front, the brawny one guarding the heavy pressure at the back, the Elders providing flank support, and the captain maneuvering outside... allowing you to do what you enjoy doing.”
