High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1917: Chapter 138: Illegal Materials

After Zheng Qing refused Xin’s interview probe, he immediately jumped into the six-pillar bed, burrowed into the covers, and in less than a second, he emitted a loud snore.

The other three outside the canopy exchanged glances.

”I never said I definitely needed to do anything.” The Fat Wizard spread his hands innocently, ”Mr. Zha is just too sensitive... gets startled by every little thing.”

The snoring inside the canopy abruptly stopped, followed by the sound of teeth grinding.

Xin Feili shrugged and turned to look at Dylan.

”Are you still going to class?” he asked eagerly, ”Is there any chance you can get another extra edition... If I wouldn’t get beaten by Grandpa Niwu for going out at this time, I wouldn’t be bothering you.”

The Blood Werewolf removed his cufflinks, threw them to the Sprites, and pouted, ”With such an incident happening, who would still go to class... Night classes aren’t mandatory, and the lessons missed can be made up during the day.”

Xin sighed and turned his head again to Xiao Xiao, finding the short Warlock also changing into pajamas.

Faster than casting magic.

This was a very polite refusal again. Xin Fat Man wisely did not speak again and sat back on his bed obediently. The sturdy six-pillar bed groaned heavily, and Tuan Tuan, who had originally been snoring comfortably, irritably twitched its tail.

Diagonally opposite.

Just before lying down in the coffin, Dylan propped himself on the coffin board with his elbow, stared at Zheng Qing’s canopy, and after a while asked suddenly, ”Mr. Zha, you really are a wizard, right?”

The snoring in Zheng Qing’s canopy paused for a few seconds.

Even through the canopy, it seemed the others could see the dazed look on the young student’s face.

”Real as it gets!”

Zheng Qing, with a dark face, sneezed forcefully through the canopy, ”Even if I were a demon, I wouldn’t be interested in your blood that can’t decide if it’s hot or cold... A Doctor’s brain seems more delicious.”

”Ogres easily get prion diseases, apparently because they enjoy eating the brains of their own kind,” a calm voice sounded from Xiao Xiao’s bed, ”Are you sure you still want to have a go at my brain?”

A wry chuckle emanated from Xin Fat Man’s bed, seemingly questioning why his companions still had the heart to joke on such a dreadful night.

...

...

The idea that the four young wizards in dormitory 403 could get a good night’s sleep ended up being a pipe dream.

Just as Zheng Qing lay on his bed tossing and turning, unable to sleep, hesitating whether to brew a cup of talisman water to help sleep, a loud knock sounded at the dormitory door.

Bang bang bang!

”Who’s out there?”

Dylan’s coffin lid was the first to fly open—nighttime wasn’t his typical sleep time anyway, hence his voice sounded robust—the Blood Werewolf shouted loudly, ”Who’s knocking in the dead of night!”

The knocking outside the door paused for a moment, then resumed with more intensity.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

This time, everyone in dormitory 403, including Zheng Qing, got out of bed. Clearly, they were all still haunted by that dreadful news, unable to sleep.

The lights came on.

The copper mirror and anti-evil charm hanging from the ceiling showed no reaction, indicating it wasn’t anything malicious outside the door. Of course, at First University, even if there were malicious entities, they couldn’t reach the student dormitories.

The dormitory door opened.

Standing outside were two wizards in black robes, wearing large hoods.

Noticing the wary gazes of the young wizards inside, the two black-robed figures didn’t hesitate, quickly removing their hoods to reveal two familiar faces.

Thomas and Hilda from the Assistant Corps.

”Mr. Thomas?”

”Teacher Hilda!”

Surprised greetings rang out simultaneously.

Zheng Qing, with his hands behind his back, discreetly tucked a pile of talisman paper back into his pocket; the blue tint on Xin Fat Man’s face quickly dissipated; Dylan retracted his fangs; only Xiao Xiao remained holding his crystal ball the entire time.

No one knew what kind of mindset held a ball in bed at night.

”Good evening, everyone.”

Thomas greeted warmly, his gaze sweeping across the young wizards’ faces before finally settling on Dylan’s large black coffin, adding, ”Good evening, Mr. Tabot.”

”Good evening, Mr. Thomas... Mr. Hilda.” The Blood Werewolf slipped out of the coffin and elegantly saluted, showing a bit of curiosity on his face, ”Is something the matter?”

Thomas pondered silently, and the young wizards exchanged glances, leaving the room in a subtly awkward silence. Only Tuan Tuan’s long snores broke the silence, easing some of that awkwardness.

Zheng Qing was keenly aware that the midnight visit from the two black-robed wizards was related to the extra edition of the Beta Town Post.

A moment of silence passed.

Hilda impatiently pulled out a roll of parchment, pointing at each of the four young wizards in turn, ”Him, him, him, him... Do you think any of them don’t know about it yet? You’ve been young too, you know how hard it is to keep a secret!”

”That’s prejudice, sir!” Xin Fat Man waved his arms and shouted, ”You have to believe in a journalist’s integrity, we strictly protect secrets that need to be protected!”

”Listen, that’s their sense of integrity.” Hilda turned her face to Thomas, showing a slight comical expression, ”They only protect secrets that need protecting.”

Thomas cleared his throat, interrupting the lively interaction between the two activists.

”Tonight at 9:43 p.m., there were unlawful individuals distributing illegal promotional materials... confirmed by the Divination Group, Mr. Dylan O’Brien Tabot was present at the scene.” The black-robed wizard quietly looked at Dylan, ”Entrusted by the school, the First University Divination Group is tasked with confirming related matters, here are the authorization letter and identification documents...”

He pulled out a parchment authorization letter covered in various seals, briefly waving it in front of the young wizards. It flashed by so quickly that Zheng Qing only glimpsed a few words like ’authorize’, ’First University Assistant Corps’, ’assist’, and ’without error’.

Thomas put away the parchment and continued to ask calmly, ”So... may I ask, Mr. Tabot, did you participate in the distribution of illegal promotional materials?”

”Are you referring to the extra edition issued by the Beta Town Post as ’illegal materials’?” Dylan cautiously confirmed.

”There is no such extra edition!” Hilda shook his head, interrupting with impatience, ”That was unquestionably illegal material!”

”Of course, the material was very misleading, distributed in the form of an extra edition of the Beta Town Post.” Thomas softly added, confirming again, ”So, Mr. Tabot, may I ask, did you...”

”No, it has nothing to do with me!” Dylan quickly defended himself, ”I was just going to class, you know, with my Blood Race and Werewolf heritage, most of my courses are scheduled at night. I went to class, and then someone brought in a bunch of extra editions, everyone was curious, so we gathered around to take a look...”
