High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1913: Chapter 134: Shocking News

Zheng Qing vaguely remembers a saying that when spending time with a fragrant beauty, it always seems like a fleeting moment; but when accompanied by a foul-smelling, tumor-covered, ugly creature, even a brief moment can feel like an eternity.

As for the latter case, Zheng Qing doesn’t have any relevant experience yet.

But for the former, the young public-supported student has had more than one similar experience.

Just like today, Zheng Qing arrived at the Two-Dimensional Evolution Lab and felt like he only chatted a bit with Su Shijun, signed a new contract, listened to her impart some life experiences, and upon leaving, was surprised to find the moonlight already high in the sky. Checking the time on his pocket watch, it was a quarter past nine in the evening.

He tied an Armor Horse Charm to his leg and hurriedly set off—just in case, the warlock even detoured to the First Hall to ensure the opening ceremony had ended—then returned to the dormitory.

There were only two roommates in the dorm, Xiao Xiao and Xin Fat Man.

As a member of the Moonlight Clan, Dylan’s schedule was opposite to everyone else’s; this was the time for his ’morning class’, so he wasn’t in the dormitory.

When Zheng Qing pushed the door open, Xin was sitting on the bed grooming Tuan Tuan, while Xiao Xiao was busy drawing his line drawing at the desk.

The sprites were ecstatic at the warlock’s return, bringing warm towels, toiletries, and pajamas, lined up in front of Zheng Qing, all prepared and ready at his reach.

”You didn’t attend the opening ceremony; where did you go?”

Xiao Xiao pushed away the parchment in front of him, straightened up, adjusted his glasses, and carefully observed the young public-supported student at the door, with a hint of curiosity in his eyes.

Zheng Qing rolled his eyes, but before he could speak, Xin Fat Man reminded him, ”You didn’t go to the library.”

”Nor to the Hundred Herb Gardens.” Xiao Xiao nodded.

”Didn’t go to the lab building.”

”Nor to the office building.”

”Didn’t go to the shop.”

”Not at the Wandering Bar.”

”Sister Korma said she hadn’t seen you.”

”Jiang Da Headmaster also shook his head.”

”The Cat Fruit Tree was empty today.”

”There were only fishmen at the bottom of Lin Zhong Lake.”

The Fat Wizard and the short warlock covered all the excuses Zheng Qing could think of, leaving him no room, finally repeating the previous question: ”So... where did you go instead of attending the opening ceremony?”

Zheng Qing suspected that even if he claimed to have been fighting fairies in a small hotel, Doctor Xiao, proficient in Divination Skill, would likely find loopholes.

After a simple yet intense internal struggle, the young public-supported student ultimately decided to tell the truth.

”I went to cut shadows.”

Zheng Qing moved forward, exposing himself under the overhead light, revealing a very faint shadow behind him, supplementing, ”The Two-Dimensional Evolution Lab has improved their shadow-cutting technology... so this time they left me a little bit.”

The issue with Zheng Qing’s shadow was known to the hunters of the Absolution Hunting Team. In explaining, Zheng Qing cleverly avoided mentioning Su Shijun, instead vaguely attributing it to the Two-Dimensional Evolution Lab.

Fortunately, his two companions didn’t notice this detail.

They were more interested in Zheng Qing’s shadow.

”So you mean the moving part of your shadow got cut off?” Xiao Xiao crossed his arms and pinched his chin, praising with admiration, ”That’s really meticulous work... these school labs truly have some substance.”

Hearing the words ’substance’, a silhouette gently drifted across Zheng Qing’s mind behind the large desk in the lab, prompting him to shake his head vigorously, trying to dismiss this slightly impolite thought.

”What’s wrong, is there an issue?” The Doctor, noticing the warlock’s head-shaking motion from the corner of his eye, asked curiously.

”No, no, no, nothing’s wrong.” Zheng Qing hurriedly muddled through, ”I just remembered something else... nothing to do with what you were saying.”

”What about the part of the shadow that got cut off? Did it turn back into a cat?” On the other side, Xin Fat Man also expressed his concern. Fatty Cat Tuan Tuan lay steadily on the Fat Wizard’s head, clutching his paws, like a reclining Buddha.

Zheng Qing glanced at the squinting fat cat.

”No.”

He hesitated, quickly reviewing in his mind everything related to the shadow, and after confirming there were no other sensitive points, simply explained, ”The lab said the shadow’s origin was heavily depleted, unable to maintain its previous form... that’s also why it chose to be my shadow again at the time, because I could maintain its minimal existence... after these two months of rest, it gained a bit of strength, enough to scare people with claws and teeth, but the loss of origin is not so easily replenished.”

”So you sent it back to the two-dimensional world?” Xiao Xiao suddenly interrupted Zheng Qing’s explanation.

Zheng Qing was stunned for a few seconds.

”Oh!”

He struck his palm with a fist, a look of realization on his face: ”No wonder when I said I sent it back to the two-dimensional trial world, that guy was so enthusiastic... you mean it can absorb the origin from the two-dimensional world to make up for its loss?”

”Obviously.” The Doctor shrugged and asked again, ”So, did you send it back?”

”No.”

Zheng Qing initially denied it but quickly added, ”...at least, before I left, that guy was still sticking to the floor like a stain. Of course, we can’t rule out that the wizard from the evolution experiment might have reached some new agreement with it to shove it back into the two-dimensional world.”

With a single sentence, Zheng Qing’s back broke out in a cold sweat.

He almost uttered Su Shijun’s name.

Bam!

Room 403’s door was violently pushed open from the outside.

Mister Blood Werewolf swept into the room like a gust of wind, grabbing Zheng Qing’s arm, repeatedly asking, ”Is it true? Is everything they said true?”

The young public-supported student looked utterly confused.

Not only him, but the other two in the dorm were also stunned.

”Ouch! Ouch! Stop, it hurts! Damn... will you loosen up?” Zheng Qing cursed several times in a row, finally freeing his arm from Dylan’s grip, his first reaction was that this guy skipped class!

”Aren’t you supposed to be in class at this time?” Zheng Qing patted the shell in his pocket, didn’t bother to check the exact time, but stared in surprise at Mister Blood Werewolf in front of him. ”Did you skip class? And what do you mean by ’true’ or ’false’?”

Dylan’s face turned pale as he looked around at the calm demeanor of the three in red robes, suddenly realizing something.

”You mean you guys don’t know yet?”

”Know what?”

”The Beta Town Post issued an urgent bulletin saying that your Jiuyou Academy’s Dean Yao is a Great Demon! The entire night class is in turmoil; who has the mindset for classes now!”
