High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1916: Chapter 137: What Kind of Demon Is the Most Dangerous

To discuss two issues and mention three things is not a logical contradiction. In reality, there are things much more contradictory than this that no one usually pays attention to these small details.

As for the issues Zheng Qing was concerned about, Xiao Xiao just adjusted his glasses and gave some possible guesses.

”The school might know, or it might not, that’s not the key point.”

The Diviner of Absolution raised a finger and said with no conceit, ”Even at my level, I can think of no less than ten divination methods in an instant to ensure that the speech doesn’t have any errors...”

”You mean that due to a divination predicting this extra issue, the speech temporarily removed the part about the appointment?” Zheng Qing felt somewhat incredulous.

”Is that strange?”

Xiao Xiao glanced at him and emphasized, ”That’s the principal’s speech! They should be considered one of the most powerful beings in the wizard world, right? Divining such a small thing is nothing to them, every word they say should be correct... and if it’s not, it will ’become’ correct.”

Zheng Qing tried very hard to suppress the urge to complain.

He found it hard to imagine the old man in the rocking chair joking with the Yellow Flowered Cat would care about the details in his speech. Moreover, he highly doubted if that speech was really read by the gentleman.

”Secondly, when you mention the school’s response, you should consider what we were just debating.” Xiao Xiao pointed around the room: ”Jiuyou belongs to First University, but First University isn’t just Jiuyou alone... Professor Yao’s incident must have thrown the school into chaos, with some wanting to smooth things over, some wanting to see his misfortune, and some wanting to watch from the sidelines... having no response is the wisest response. Until the complete story, the ins and outs of this matter are clear, no one would rashly act in between the two deans.”

”As for the third point,”

Saying this, Xiao Xiao paused and looked at Zheng Qing, sneering, ”The third point is the least of the concerns. Anyone with a bit of sense wouldn’t dwell on this issue.”

Zheng Qing was full of question marks.

He still clearly remembered that after knowing Old Yao was a great demon, he couldn’t sleep well for long nights; every time he closed his eyes, he saw a bloody mouth coming over him. He was afraid to go to Old Yao’s office alone for a long time, and every time he saw that wax-yellow face biting a pipe, he shivered unconsciously.

So, he couldn’t understand why his companions were showing a shocking lack of concern over this issue.

”Do you know what kind of demon is the most dangerous?” Xiao Xiao didn’t immediately explain his analysis but instead asked Zheng Qing an unrelated-sounding question.

”What kind of demon?” The young cost student was slightly stunned for a second, then he tried to answer: ”Witch Demons? Because Witch Demons are converted from wizards and have strong deception?”

”No, no, no, the Doctor means, low-tier demons or high-tier demons, which is more dangerous?” Dylan interjected from the side.

This was a bit strange, Zheng Qing could easily think that high-tier demons were definitely more dangerous.

But just before speaking, he suddenly realized the problem wasn’t that simple, it made no sense for Xiao Xiao to ask such a foolish question.

Seeing the warlock fall silent, the short warlock glanced uninterestedly at the talkative blood werewolf.

”I suppose you’ve realized the core of the issue.” He reached for a cup of honey water from a sprite, moistened his throat, and said, ”For ordinary wizards, low-tier demons are more dangerous than high-tier demons. Because most low-tier demons lack self-control and are easily driven by the instincts in their bloodlines, leading to aggressive behavior... while high-tier demons are rational to the point of coldness, they won’t do anything that might bring danger for a trivial bite of blood food.”

”Just like Old Yao.”

”I wouldn’t worry at all that in the curse course next Monday, Old Yao would suddenly reveal his true form and bite my head off... this isn’t a joke... think carefully, you can figure out the trick in it. First University isn’t some puppet show troupe, it has the most powerful magic research team in the wizard world, and the most powerful wizards, there’s no reason everyone would be blind, unable to see a great demon squatting in front of them.”

Flutter, flutter, flutter.

A sound of paper cranes flapping their wings interrupted Xiao Xiao’s lengthy discourse. Zheng Qing followed the sound and saw Xin Fat Man huddled over a desk writing rapidly, occasionally cupping his hands and tossing them up, making a paper crane rise into the air.

When Zheng Qing looked over, there were already a dozen or so paper cranes circling over the Fat Wizard’s head, Fatty Cat was squinting at them, ears stretched airplane-style, ready to pounce at any moment.

”Don’t touch them, Tuan Tuan, this is not the time for fooling around.” Xin, still hunched over the desk with his feather pen dancing rapidly, reminded without even raising his head.

His voice was slightly hoarse but his spirit was extremely high, the delicate magical fluctuations around him made Zheng Qing feel as if every hair on his body was straining.

Hearing the Fat Wizard’s warning, Fat Cat extended its claws, dissatisfied as it scratched twice on the Fat Wizard’s pillow, finally giving up on pouncing on the little paper cranes, it turned around, facing its backside towards the desk, and pretended to nap with a snore.

”Are you seeking verification from the editorial department?” Zheng Qing glimpsed a few words under the feather pen.

”Yeah.”

Xin didn’t deny it, sitting upright to fold the last paper crane, muttering, ”Also looking for acquaintances in the Beta Town Post, asking if they know the source of the news; looking for the owner of the tea shop on the Pedestrian Street, as long as the special issue is officially released, he will certainly have a copy kept; there’s also the Professor Joint Meeting, School Works Committee, Dean’s Office, Professor Yi’s Office... try all of them to see if they accept interviews.”

”These little fellows will most likely get thrown into the trash can.” Zheng Qing watched as Xin sent a group of paper cranes out the window, shaking his head, not being very optimistic about his efforts.

”Got to try, what if luck favors?” The Fat Wizard had already completely recovered from the huge blow of the prior news, turning back into a savvy journalist, his eyes squinted as his gaze wandered uncertainly between Zheng Qing and Xiao Xiao: ”...Do you guys think there are any other approaches?”

Zheng Qing very guilelessly thought he was genuinely gathering ideas and began to consider seriously.

Xiao Xiao, on the other hand, was very aware.

”Sima won’t accept interviews, and neither will I.”

He straightforwardly shattered the Fat Wizard’s tiny fantasy: ”No matter Oberver or Recorder, it’s most important to remain objective and rational... and the best way to maintain objectivity is to keep a certain distance, not to convey what you’ve seen and heard to a third party. Anything that goes through retelling will lose some of its accuracy.”

Zheng Qing immediately realized, also refusing with a stern face: ”Not accepting, not clear, don’t know... I’m tired, sleeping, talk tomorrow if there’s anything!”
