High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1929: Chapter 150: Greatness and Mediocrity (Part 2)

A great wizard once said, ’A problem cannot be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it.’ In other words, the solution to significant problems always needs to be sought on another dimension.

Ollivander and Gregorovich are precisely such a classic contradiction.

Rather than saying law books eliminated the two ancient magic wand-making families, it’s more accurate to say that with the development of dimension theory, magic wands can no longer meet the wizards’ need for a stronger and more stable mana application. In this sense, law books replacing magic wands is a dimensionally different solution.

The case in Korma’s mind abruptly ended here.

She was slightly distracted, carefully erasing some ’disrespectful’ thoughts about Professor Yao from her mind while focusing her attention back to the classroom.

On the podium, the outsourced elder wizard was still using a voice that put everyone to sleep as he read the thick, seemingly never-ending lecture notes in his hand, occasionally wetting his fingers with saliva and slowly flipping a couple of pages.

The North District Great Wise Person sighed slightly in his heart. Indeed, such important theoretical courses that involve cosmology and methodology still need more experienced and seasoned wizards to teach, like Professor Yao.

The silhouette of Professor Yao flashed through her mind again. The witch frowned, just as she was about to erase this thought once more, she heard a whispered conversation from two Northern District wizards at the back of the classroom—

”...I completely don’t understand what he’s teaching!”

”Not understanding is exactly right! I’ve heard that the person teaching Philosophy of Magic at the First University is the dean of Jiuyou Academy! Professor Yao, you know?”

”I do know. The Beta Town Post said he was recently promoted to Legend... But lately, the post seems to also have some very bad rumors about ’Him’?”

”Bad rumors? Do you know what they are?”

”...Isn’t the school not allowing discussion? It’s said that anyone in the know was required to sign a silence contract, no one knows exactly what’s going on, but the last time I was buying frogs at the dock, I heard someone say that ’That person’ keeps a group of succubi at home!”

”Succubi? The kind with very little clothing? Aren’t they supposed to live in hell?... And that’s different from what I heard, eh.”

”What did you hear?”

His companion looked at him exasperatedly: ”If I knew and could tell you, would I still be sitting here? You really lack self-awareness...”

The chatter subsided, and the old wizard’s droning voice filled the classroom again.

A few moments later, the first wizard sighed slightly: ”As expected... Still don’t understand. Why is it that three-dimensional problems are easier to solve in two dimensions, and two-dimensional problems easier in three dimensions? Clearly, this conclusion is contradictory!”

”We need a true professor.” His companion agreed: ”Like Professor Yao from Jiuyou Academy... He’s not just a professor, but also the dean of Jiuyou!”

”It’s not about the professor or the dean.” The first wizard shook his head: ”In fact, our little pub here is the university of Northern District wizards... The Great Sage is our professor and dean, Sakura Pub is our academy and Alpha Fortress...”

Korma didn’t continue listening to the rest.

The idea of causing trouble to the two Northern District wizards who were goofing off in class also vanished, as the conversation she just overheard—especially the last few sentences they said—made a ’great’ crazy idea emerge in the mind of this Northern District Great Sage.

She decided to build an academy.

Right on Buji Island, in the North Beita Town.

To build an academy like Jiuyou, Alpha, Atlas, and Starry Sky, that could teach magic to North District wizards of suitable age! Just as the saying goes, ’If the mountain won’t come to me, then I will go to the mountain’. Since the First University continues to evade and delay the enrollment issues of Northern District wizards, she would build an academy belonging to the people of the North District!

From any angle, this is considered a ’crazy’ idea.

Not to mention the deep historical heritage, abundant teaching resources, and ample financial support of the First University’s four academies, just applying to establish a new academy on Buji Island is enough to discourage anyone who has this thought.

To use an inappropriate analogy, Korma’s idea is like a flower cat hunting in a pride of lions’ territory, or a street vendor selling sugar figures in front of the Double Tang Note, acting as a tailor in front of Green Xifang.

The primary issue she needed to solve was to gain recognition from the First University—after all, the entire Beta Town is sheltered under the protection of the First University’s Protect Legal Formation.

...

...

”Merlin Above!”

The young cost student sighed deeply, ”I’m just an ordinary little wizard, although I’ve achieved a few insignificant accomplishments ... But I really can’t be the last straw when you’re in despair.”

”Despair?”

The North District Grand-Wizard shook his head slightly, raising the small cup in his hand: ”No, I’m not desperate at all. In fact, I’ve never been this hopeful... For the first time in a long time, the wizards of the North District have real mana, allowing them to rightfully walk the streets and alleys of Beta Town. You, me, and every wizard helping to advance this cause, have the ability to light a torch in a dark world. So, why not try?”

Try and you die.

Zheng Qing muttered in his heart, sighing heavily once more: ”Compared to such heavy topics now, I still miss the times when you joked with us at the Sakura Pub.”

”If you need...” Korma’s face revealed a hint of a dangerous smile, glancing at the Owner of Qingqiu Mansion sitting on the other side.

Su Shijun was combing the little fox with an expressionless face. Perhaps due to static electricity, a series of crackling tiny currents sparked between the comb and the long hair of the little fox.

Just a glance from the corner of his eye gave Zheng Qing a feeling of being completely scorched.

”I don’t mean that!”

The warlock immediately raised his hands in surrender, embarrassed: ”What I mean is... I agree, I have no objections... Whatever you want me to do, just instruct me directly!”

Korma nodded in satisfaction.

Su Shijun’s expression slightly softened, and the tiny sparks on Poseidon’s fur disappeared instantly.

”Not always, just when needed.” The witch cheerfully corrected: ”Most of the time, you should still focus on your studies, study hard, and make progress every day.”

”Heh.” The warlock sneered, not speaking.

In verbal battles, he never won.

”Oh, by the way.” The North District Grand-Wizard paused nonchalantly: ”Old Yao is still your dean, right? Recently, there’ve been some messy rumors in the academy, I can assure you, it has nothing to do with me or any wizard of the North District.”

Zheng Qing blinked, hesitated slightly: ”Having nothing to do with it is naturally good... But, why explain this to me?”

”Because I haven’t seen him much lately.” Korma scratched her hair in frustration, revealing a bit of annoyance: ”Moreover, my identity makes it very inconvenient to enter the academy... You’re his student, you should probably be able to have a little chat with him, right.”
