High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1927: Chapter 148: Outsider

Upon hearing the sound of footsteps entering, the two witches raised their heads in unison to look.

Both beautiful, both at the Great Wizard Rank. Although Zheng Qing was quite familiar with both of them, the direct gaze still exerted immense mental pressure on him, making him instinctively forget to breathe.

Fortunately, the warlock had a little fox in his arms.

As soon as they entered, Poseidon shed his lazy demeanor, eagerly jumped out of the warlock’s arms, and scurried over to Su Shijun, standing upright against her leg, chirping incessantly, his big tail happily swaying behind him, as if claiming credit for hard work.

”Good job.”

Su Daxu put down her teacup, rubbed the little fox’s head, praising him while taking out a date-red pill and popping it into the little fox’s mouth.

The little fox quickly gobbled down the pill, its ears perked up comfortably, reluctantly licking the witch’s fingers.

”No more, only one per week.” Su Shijun extended her white index finger, poking Poseidon’s forehead, pushing the cute little fox away: ”... it’s poison in doses, you need to know moderation.”

Zheng Qing could no longer pretend to watch silently.

It wasn’t that he envied the little fox for being able to get close to Su Daxu, but ever since he entered, Sister Korma’s expression turned subtly intrigued upon seeing the little fox in his arms— not only did it not fade, but she kept examining the warlock, clicking her tongue in wonder.

”What a coincidence!”

The warlock chuckled awkwardly twice, finally remembering he still needed to breathe, raising his hand to wave at the North District Great Wise Person: ”I originally planned to visit Sakura Pub after the start of school, but have been busy...”

”Busy taking care of a child?” Korma interrupted the warlock’s small talk abruptly.

Her answer was met with a fit of intense coughing after being choked by water. The warlock coughed so violently that even the big and little foxes happily fostering their relationship paused their actions to look at Zheng Qing.

”What did you just feed Poseidon?” Zheng Qing wiped the water stains from his mouth, evasively changing the subject— even without making eye contact, he could feel Korma holding a teacup, tightly staring at him.

”Bai Xiang Pill, a potion made from the essence of a hundred flowers, used by girls to regulate their bodies.” After confirming the warlock wouldn’t choke to death, Su Shijun resumed grooming the little fox, answering offhandedly.

Poseidon lounged on her lap, comfortably purring like a cat, his tail leisurely wagging left and right, making one tempted to grab it.

”Poseidon needs body regulation at such a young age?” Zheng Qing asked the silly question, staring at the little fox’s tail.

The owner of Greenhill Mansion rolled her eyes, teasingly said: ”If you don’t understand, don’t meddle... Regulating the body doesn’t only mean regulating energy! Bai Xiang Pill can improve physical conditioning, enhance magic affinity, and works best when used young!”

Zheng Qing mumbled, pausing for a moment, then couldn’t help but ask quietly: ”...is it expensive?”

This time, even Korma who was drinking tea couldn’t help but laugh.

Su Shijun glanced at the warlock, shaking her head: ”Not expensive, but precious. The ’hundred flowers’ part is a metaphor, because this pill uses the essence of over a hundred kinds of flowers, each with strict harvesting time, location, and method requirements... why are you asking these things? This is something only girls need to care about!”

Zheng Qing didn’t understand why the witch suddenly became stern.

He hesitated, and after a while, softly asked, ”Isn’t there... something you wanted to discuss with me?”

”Oh, it’s not me who’s looking for you, it’s Korma.” Upon hearing the warlock’s reply, Su Shijun’s expression softened, raising the small comb in her hand to point to the other guest: ”...she came to the mansion today to discuss Edge Academy with me and mentioned the recent special edition from the Beta Town Post... Tsk, Old Yao really kept this under wraps! To think I used to consider him the most reliable!”

Su Shijun’s response leapt across several topics, leaving Zheng Qing feeling overwhelmed.

He first followed the direction of the comb to look at Korma, the North District Grand-Wizard raised her teacup leisurely, smiling amiably.

The warlock recalled his first encounter at the Sakura Pub, shivered, and pretended not to see Sister’s greeting.

”What is Edge Academy?” He skipped over two topics he couldn’t pursue, finally choosing a term that seemingly had nothing to do with him.

This time, Su Shijun finally refrained from speaking, gesturing with her eyes for the party involved to answer.

”It’s a newly established college, a full-time undergraduate, four-year system, similar to several colleges of the First University.” Korma answered briskly: ”I plan to teach North District Wizards magic at this academy, the application has already been submitted, and it’s named ’Edge’... How about it, pretty cool right!”

”Edge.” Zheng Qing savored this slightly peculiar word.

”Yes, you could put it that way.” The North District Great Wise Person slightly sat up, drew a circle in the air with her hand to encompass the area of North Beita Town and Silent Forest: ”This academy is established on the edge of the First University and Silent Forest, and North District Wizards have always been on the periphery of the wizard world— of course, I don’t see this as a shame for the North District, on the contrary, I think it’s a precious memory worthy of being passed down, of the North District striving hard.”

It sounded quite nice, indeed.

”But what does this have to do with me?” The warlock scratched his head—since the topic had already opened up, there was naturally no initial awkwardness— so he continued naturally: ”I never planned to transfer...”

”Indeed, it has nothing to do with you.” Korma thoughtfully scratched her chin: ”But your suggestion is worth considering, hmm, when establishing the academy, we indeed should recruit some talented students to slightly strengthen the academy’s foundation...”

She found a small notebook and a silver feather pen from somewhere, scribbling down the newly emerged idea.

Zheng Qing intended to stop her, but worried that interrupting a Great Wizard’s inspiration might result in a terrible backlash.

In the end, he could only lightly cough twice, attempting to remind the witch to return to the main point: ”So... you still haven’t said what you wanted from me.”

”Oh.” Korma continued to jot down her inspiration while simply explaining without raising her head: ”Originally, I asked Sister Su for help, to navigate routes through the Moon Council or the school to see if we could expedite the Edge Academy project... I heard that you have good connections with the school’s higher-ups, so I came to ask if you knew any ’shortcuts.’”

Saying this, she finished recording her inspiration, raised her head, looking at Zheng Qing with leisure, the feather pen in her hand poised over a blank sheet, ready to take notes on whatever the young man said.

Zheng Qing, utterly bewildered, pointed to his nose in response: ”Me?”

The voice was filled with self-awareness.
