High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1933: Chapter 154: The Beginning of Week 3

After the early class, a new week of study life was about to begin.

When Zheng Qing sat in the classroom, watching the dust swirl and dance in the sunlight streaming through the window, he suddenly realized that only two days had passed since the last class.

And in his mind, it seemed like it had been a long time since he last sat in the classroom — this was very unusual because it always only felt like time dragged on endlessly during school, never during a break.

The leisure time on Saturdays and Sundays usually passed in the blink of an eye.

Only the last two days, perhaps due to the grand opening ceremony or maybe because of the special bulletin concerning Old Yao, felt complicated and endless, leaving no trace of the joy of a holiday, only exhaustion.

Today’s classroom was also very different from usual.

No one was sitting on the desks laughing or chatting with classmates; no one was conducting their own little magic experiments at the desk; not even anyone was catching up on homework!

Truly unbelievable.

Everyone, including Li Meng, obediently opened the ”Standard Spells - University Second Grade” in front of them, reviewing various spells related to ’taboo’ from the last class while cautiously previewing new Chapters that might be involved in today’s class, seemingly all worried that if they couldn’t answer a question, the professor at the podium would bite off their heads.

Jiang Yu sat beside Li Meng, her posture as straight as ever, her feather pen occasionally tapping on Li Meng’s textbook, seemingly guiding her review focus points.

The clear sunlight of late autumn permeated through the window, falling on the witch’s hair tips and shoulders, as if coating her with a thick layer of orange jam, giving off a sweet scent.

Zheng Qing stared blankly for a while.

As if sensing the gaze from this corner, the witch flicked her long hair, tilted her body slightly, and glanced back, making Zheng Qing instinctively avoid her eyes, looking instead in the direction of another Monitor.

At a glance, he was stunned.

Compared to usual, today’s Tang Dun seemed a bit dispirited, his face wan, with large eye bags, looking like he hadn’t rested well for a long time, although his magic course book was also spread open in front of him, anyone could see that the monitor appeared lifeless, his thoughts unknown.

Glancing around from Tang Dun’s position, others didn’t seem to fare much better.

Duan Xiao Jian’s hunchback had become more pronounced, making him seem to be trying to shove his head into the drawer; Matthew Karen maintained his low profile since the start of the term, sitting under the heavy curtains, his entire face buried in his textbook.

Ever since Matthew’s cousin, Sir Friedman, failed to compete Augustus, the entire Blood Race at the First University, including Matthew, had become much more low-key.

And Nicholas.

Even though Liu Fei Fei sat beside him, the tall, skinny warlock still appeared restless, frequently glancing toward the classroom door, leading Zheng Qing to strongly suspect this Northern District Wizard wanted to defend Korma before Old Yao, telling him that the special bulletin had nothing to do with the Northern District Wizards.

Zheng Qing didn’t think much of his recklessness.

As he was pondering whether to fold a paper mouse to remind Nicholas, the stick figure behind the door suddenly shouted out:

”The unspeakable Cannibalistic Demon King has passed by Lin Zhong Lake!”

The entire classroom seemed to shiver from this line — Zheng Qing remembered clearly, two weeks ago, when the stick figure shouted this, the students in the classroom were initially startled, but the atmosphere quickly returned to normal, with students grumbling and resuming their clamor.

But today, when the stick figure shouted again, everyone fell silent, as if turning into a group of quails.

”Did it know something beforehand?” Xin Fat Man turned half his body cautiously, consulting the young cost student behind him in an almost inaudible voice.

Zheng Qing rolled his eyes silently, muttering, ”How would I know... didn’t you threaten to draw two female tigers on its white paper last time? Didn’t think to ask?”

”That was just a metaphor, a metaphor.” The Fat Wizard mumbled, swiftly turning back, ending the topic.

The stick figure behind the door seemed unused to the classroom’s silence too.

The last time with such ’announcing’ the effect was quite good, the students’ reactions were ’pretty nice’, so why was the response today completely different?

Paused for a while.

It coughed twice and shouted again: ”The misleading foul ninth has already entered the teaching building!”

This time, it was met with the gaze of all young wizards in classroom 601 — everyone turned their eyes toward the white paper behind the door, silently watching the stick figure bowing with three tufts of hair on its head, eyes filled with suspicion, pity, and curiosity, but devoid of appreciation.

The last time it courted death this way, everyone could explain it with ’the Legendary Wizard wouldn’t bother with a stick figure’, but this time, it seemed everyone could see a diminutive figure boldly walking up to an alert tiger and tugging on its whiskers.

No one thought the Legendary Wizard couldn’t hear the commotion here.

Just like no one doubted that pulling a tiger’s whiskers would get you bitten.

The orderly and silent gazes gave the stick figure behind the door immense pressure, making it daze for quite a while before realizing its mistake in the performance.

”Professor Yao XiaoMi...”

It had just shouted these few words — the classroom seemed to shiver again — when it immediately shut up, realizing its ’announcement’ was delayed, and then quickly skipped the part about ’Professor Yao XiaoMi appearing at the sixth-floor corridor entrance’, increasing its volume to cover this error:

”... the great Legendary Wizard is about to grace his loyal classroom!”

Everyone held their breath, no one looked at the stick figure’s exaggerated salute of removing its head, nor did anyone pay attention to the heavy ”Standard Spells” before them.

Everyone craned their necks, dumbly looking toward the classroom door.

Bang!

A familiar yet unfamiliar rhythm came, and the classroom door was forcefully pushed open from the outside. In an instant, it was as if everyone’s eyes had been stung by bees, quickly darting back — some frantically flipping through the books in front of them, some bowing their heads but straining their eyes upward, others clutching amulets hidden in drawers, eyes closed, lips silently moving, whispering spells.

Perhaps only Zheng Qing and Xiao Xiao’s corner maintained a certain degree of composure, naturally looking toward the doorway.

Xiao Xiao, perhaps due to his special ’professionalism’, maintained a neutral attitude towards many things; Zheng Qing, on the other hand, had long moved past the fear — last year when he was still anxious about this, others hadn’t even known about it yet.

For this reason, the two warlocks were the first to notice the peculiarity of ’Professor Yao’.
