High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1914: Chapter 135: Chaos Within Chaos

Old Yao is an old demon.

Zheng Qing knows this, and he believes the higher-ups of the school—including the principal, vice-principal, and other senior professors—should all be aware of this secret.

But a secret is a secret because it’s not suited for everyone to know.

Like ordinary faculty members.

Like the school’s students.

And like the parents of students outside the school, as well as some staff from certain institutions in the Mage Alliance.

First University employing a Great Demon as a professor is already a shocking matter, but if this Great Demon becomes the dean of one of the four colleges at First University, it wouldn’t just be a shock— it’d be horrifying and make people question this world, make people question the entirety of human existence.

Zheng Qing can fully imagine what sort of chaos the whole First University will fall into because of this report tomorrow morning.

He even feels, perhaps mistakenly, that during his dazed moment, a large-scale student conflict has already broken out outside his window, flames climbing high, magic spells flying everywhere.

The sides of the conflict are naturally Alpha wanting to ’right justice’ and ’overthrow the demon’ and the red robes trying to defend their dean. Perhaps among them are Lin Zhong Lake fishman, Silent Forest centaurs, and even Northern District wizards.

The young cost student couldn’t help but glance out the window.

In the pitch-black night, a sliver of moonlight shines, the darkness calmly and serenely telling the young wizard that the images in his mind were just illusions.

Unlike the Warlock’s intense inner struggle.

Upon hearing Dylan’s earth-shattering news, the 403 dorm room fell into silence.

The Fat Cat, originally lying atop Fat Man’s head, had lifted its head without him noticing, its squinty eyes blinking with suspicious light; the Sprites fluttered their wings, silently floating inside the room, hesitating whether to serve Dylan a warm cup of blood wine.

After a long while, Fat Man was finally the first to speak.

”Let me sort this out.”

He habitually reached up to touch his head but instead felt the plump body of Tuan Tuan. After petting the cat twice, the Fat Wizard recomposed himself and counter-questioned: ”If I didn’t hear wrong, you mean the `Beta Town Post` issued an extra, saying our Old Yao is a demon?”

He emphasized the words ’Beta Town Post’, ’extra’, and ’our’ heavily.

Dylan solemnly nodded.

”Ha! Truly ridiculous!”

The Fat Wizard flew into a rage, a chilling blue tone surfacing on his face, cursing without restraint: ”I’ve always said those guys at Beta Town Post have been bewitched, obsessed only with making big headlines and criticizing Jiuyou Academy... But even when causing a fuss, they should adhere to professional ethics!”

”A Great Demon?! Why don’t they say all Jiuyou Academy students are ghosts in red robes? Why don’t they say Hundred Herb Gardens is the backyard of the Land of Desolation? Why don’t they say the Sea Demon King is hiding somewhere on campus now?”

Xin Fat Man, with a volatile tone, waved his arms fiercely, his figure swelling with each accusative sentence, his head gradually reaching the ceiling. The Fat Cat Tuan Tuan, originally lying atop his head like a soft cap, now seemed to have become a modest cat-skin patch.

Dylan’s entire body was shielded by the large shadow of the Fat Wizard.

He stepped back two paces, waving his hand weakly, his voice fading as he defended: ”I didn’t believe what the newspapers said either... As soon as I found out the content of the extra, I rushed back to tell you guys... This is definitely a rumor, right?”

Even though he felt like he had inadvertently stepped into a dreadful mire, in his final defense, Mister Blood Werewolf couldn’t help but seek affirmation.

Xin, whose emotions were irate, naturally didn’t display any friendly attitude.

So Dylan directed his plea toward the other two roommates in dorm 403—contrary to his expectations, Xiao Xiao and Zheng Qing didn’t show signs of anger similar to Xin’s, instead one was frowning deeply, while the other kept an expressionless face.

This made him pause in confusion.

”This is surely a rumor, right?” Mister Blood Werewolf repeated his uncertainty anxiously.

Zheng Qing didn’t reply.

Xiao Xiao adjusted his glasses, lightly coughing, and vaguely spoke: ”Perhaps... Is the extra here? Let me have a look, what does it say?”

Dylan shook his head, failing to immediately grasp the deeper meaning in the Doctor’s words: ”There were only a few dozen newspapers, they got snatched up as soon as they were out, I just crowded near someone and hastily read part of the content... What does ’perhaps’ mean?”

Saying the last words, Mister Blood Werewolf’s complexion and voice simultaneously changed.

Like him, Xin Fat Man also looked in shock at Xiao Xiao, rubbing his ears vigorously, seemingly wanting to confirm whether his hearing was at fault.

”Perhaps means that this thing might be true or might be false. It depends on your depth of recognition of this world.” Doctor Xiao explained casually, completely neglecting the difficult expressions of his two roommates.

His words suddenly weighed down the atmosphere in the room.

The Blue Giant seemed like a deflated balloon, his aura shrinking along with his figure at an observable pace, collapsing even smaller than his original size, so much so that Tuan Tuan, unable to stay perched atop his head, had to leap onto the desk.

Meow!

The Fat Cat protested sharply.

If it were usual times, hearing such complaints, Xin Fat Man would undoubtedly shell out one or two braised chicken legs, bribe the Fat Cat to avoid having his face scratched while sleeping at night.

But now, he didn’t have the heart for it.

The Fat Wizard leaned against the desk, exhaling heavily with an ever-changing facial expression of blue to white to green, resembling someone experiencing a heart attack.

The Sprites sensibly brought him a warm cup of honey water, watching as he downed three large cups in one breath, his complexion gradually improving, then silently flew back atop Zheng Qing’s head.

”Did you guys know all along?” Xin rasped harshly at his two companions, given his sharp wit and professional sensitivity, it wasn’t difficult to infer something from their responses.

Zheng Qing still didn’t speak, merely frowning, arms crossed, seriously contemplating something. Xiao Xiao, however, did glance at Xin, opened his mouth as if wanting to say something, but ultimately shook his head without uttering a word.

Sometimes, silence can convey far more than a lengthy explanation.

Fat Man instantly turned ashen.

Dylan also felt like he was going insane.

”Old Yao? Old demon?!”

He waved his arms—much like the Blue Giant moments ago—shouting loudly: ”Yao XiaoMi? The dean of Jiuyou Academy? Your advisor? That guy who likes to trod with a pipe in his mouth? Isn’t he the one who just became a Legendary Wizard? Who can tell me what on earth happened!”

No one can offer him a clear explanation in such chaos, even those who know the truth can’t.
