High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1921: Chapter 142: A Little Matter About Homework

Zheng Qing’s high opinion on positivity and negativity did not make Doctor Xiao raise an eyebrow.

The reason being that the examples he provided were somewhat distant from the Wizard World, failing to resonate with the doctor. On the contrary, the ’Deja vu’ he mentioned during his examples sparked great interest in Xiao Xiao, who grabbed Zheng Qing’s arm and went on a detailed explanation — from the understanding of divination concepts to the time theory of Dimensionism. This made Zheng Qing’s head spin and heart filled with regret, wishing he could crumple the campus newspaper and stuff it into the doctor’s blah-blah-blah mouth.

”Besides ’quenching thirst, making the body light and not hungry, nourishing with pleasant fat’, does White Dew have any other effects?” The young cost student finally caught a break in the conversation, quickly interjecting in an attempt to change the topic: ”The ’Standard Magic Potion’ only includes this line... it feels like my Magic Potion class assignment won’t reach 3,000 words.”

With that, he gently patted his assignment under his hand.

Xiao Xiao adjusted his glasses with lingering interest, glancing at the parchment under Zheng Qing’s elbow.

”Oh, the effects of White Dew, it’s simple, if you separate them, you can write a lot.”

The doctor, after all, was a doctor, easily helping the young cost student find a solution to the problem: ”... for example, ’cool and moistening dryness, relieving summer heat and annoyance’ with eight characters, you can derive ’Rice Dew’, ’Calamus Dew’, ’Leek Dew’, ’Chrysanthemum Dew’, ’Lotus Leaf Dew’, ’Cypress Leaf Dew’, ’Morning Glory Dew’, and many different qualities of White Dew.”

”’Rice Dew’ nourishes the stomach and generates fluids; ’Calamus Dew’ calms the mind and brightens the eyes; ’Leek Dew’ cools the blood and stops hiccups; ’Lotus Leaf Dew’ clears summer heat and calms the spirit; ’Chrysanthemum Dew’ nourishes the blood and soothes the wind; ’Morning Glory Dew’ harms the eyes... hmm, wait, you can omit the last one.”

”Like this, a function that can be completed in a single line can be easily expanded to hundreds of words. Only 3,000 words, very easy.”

Zheng Qing was impressed by what he heard.

But that wasn’t all; Doctor Xiao seemed to have gained interest in the topic, his brush twirling quickly in his hand as he continued to instruct: ”The above are the uses of White Dew as the main herb, besides the main herb, White Dew as a secondary herb can also be written with many functions. For example, ’Decoction Dew’, collecting White Dew, simmering it in a jade or ceramic crucible until it’s condensed like honey, with the ability to draw threads as premium, can be used as a replacement for honey or other auxiliary materials and pills, or can be directly mixed with water to drink, consuming it leaves one unfazed by hunger, prolonging life.”

”Another example is using White Dew as a boiling medium in decoction, utilizing the ’autumn chill’ of Fall Dew, suitable for simmering lung-moistening and demon-eliminating medicines, and for composing dispersions for scabies and insects... I remember witches used to like a kind of magic potion called ’Cold Fragrance Pill’, which used twelve money of White Dew, intending to use the autumn harvest spirit and cool moistening dryness quality, to clean and lower lung qi... Of course, the ’Cold Fragrance Pill’ also uses ’Rainwater rain’, ’Frost Frost’, ’Light snow snow’ along with a dozen or so kinds of petals and stamens, all added to the medicine, but I think you don’t need to write these into your assignment, lest Professor Li scolds.”

Zheng Qing sat upright, silently clapping his palms, giving a moment of silence for Professor Li who assigned the magic potion homework. With Doctor Xiao’s writing style, he felt he could write ten thousand words!

”What about the Ogre?” he asked hastily while quickly jotting down the true teachings passed on by the doctor.

”Uh?” Xiao Xiao showed a rare look of confusion, stunned for a moment before asking back, ”Do you mean to incorporate the Ogre into the White Dew or feed the Ogre with White Dew? There are several interpretations of this...”

Zheng Qing waved his hands repeatedly.

”No no no, my other assignment.”

The young cost student withdrew another piece of parchment from the stack of books beside him, smilingly shoved it under the short warlock’s nose: ”I’m taking an elective in magical zoology, Teacher Gan assigned us after-class work to write a summary on the understanding and perception of the Ogre.”

”Sorry, I elect Magic Universe Study.” Xiao Xiao quietly glanced at him: ”As for the Ogre... I remember we discussed this topic during the trials.”

”Yes, yes,”

Zheng Qing wore a deferential smile, flattering: ”I think what you said then was quite comprehensive... but wasn’t Jiang Yu also present at that time, she’s also taking magical zoology... so I thought maybe I should write something a little different. You surely have other knowledge points about the Ogre to share, right?”

This time, Doctor Xiao remained silent for a long while.

He looked at the opposite side of the desk at the simple smile; seemingly curious about how a person’s face could grow larger in a year’s time, he nodded slightly after a while: ”There is one rather obscure knowledge point... do you know what the difference is between an Ogre and dog droppings?”

Ogre and dog droppings?

Zheng Qing suddenly became interested.

”One is living, one is non-living?” He guessed: ”No, no, it shouldn’t be that simple... I do know their commonality, they both smell awful.”

”Bingo!” The doctor silently snapped his fingers, in a posture of a teachable prodigy: ”That’s the idea, extrapolated is the conclusion—dog droppings eventually lose their stench, but the Ogre does not.”

After speaking, he raised his head, with chin against Zheng Qing, carefully, slowly pushing the parchment back to him, then gathering his assignment on the desk with both hands, making a posture of getting up to leave.

”Why are you going?” Zheng Qing became anxious, but feared being beaten by the librarian, could only shout softly: ”... the assignment is not finished yet!”

”Your assignment,” Xiao Xiao straightened his slightly wrinkled robe, pointing his index finger at Zheng Qing: ”Your assignment isn’t finished yet, my...”

He used his thumb to point at himself: ”My assignment is all done... Magic Potion, you shouldn’t copy, magical zoology, unfortunately, I didn’t elect.”

Even so, Zheng Qing did not detect an ounce of regret in his tone.

”Don’t leave, don’t leave, lend a hand!” The captain of the Absolution Hunting Team had no shame, clasped his hands together, rubbing them as he quietly pleaded.

The doctor lowered his head, his gaze passing over the top of his glasses frame — this made him appear particularly serious — using an equally negotiating tone to ask in return: ”I help you write assignments, and you help me fill out application forms?”

”Application forms? What application forms.” Zheng Qing looked clueless.

Xiao Xiao snorted coldly: ”Applications for Absolution Hunting Team’s transition to official Hunting Team, the training venue application for this term, the school’s subsidy application for the official Hunting Team... and the Alliance’s reward for our achievements on the Black Prison Battlefield and the application form for prize collection. Are you really the captain of Absolution?”

Zheng Qing solemnly nodded: ”Indeed, your work is more important... go ahead and busy yourself, I can research on my own here... after all, it’s in the library, which is rather convenient.”

As he spoke, he bowed his head, looked at his magical zoology assignment, began considering whether to write the differences between Ogre and dog droppings.
