High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1925: Chapter 146: Guests of the Greenhill Mansion (Part 1)

”Anything wrong?”

With practiced ease, Jiang Yu scooped up the Little Fox’s tail, wrapped it around her wrist a few times, and quietly asked the Warlock: ”Do you need to take leave? Old Yao is not here, just report it here... There’s nothing important at today’s class meeting anymore.”

A fake cough echoed from Xin Fat Man nearby.

In the other direction, Tang Dun looked grim. On one hand, he couldn’t say that Jiang Da Headmaster’s words were wrong; on the other hand, he felt it was inappropriate for a Monitor to let this irregular atmosphere go unchecked.

It was really tough.

Zheng Qing was filled with questions at the moment, naturally ignoring the antics of the Fat Wizard or Tang Headmaster’s difficulties, but couldn’t help reacting to the Witch’s words:

”N-no, nothing special... I’ll go after the class meeting. It might be related to the shadow.”

Saying that, he lightly stomped his foot.

Jiang Yu glanced down at the faint shadow under Zheng Qing’s feet, showing a few signs of realization on her face. The matter of the Warlock needing to cut the shadow again was no secret among the Absolution Hunting Team members, concerning this obscure magic, unexpected situations were quite normal, so she wasn’t suspicious.

Thus, the award ceremony continued.

This time, however, the podium had an extra Little Fox, and Li Meng regained her lively demeanor, occasionally pointing at Poseidon to remind the students below that she hadn’t made a mistake earlier.

Zheng Qing wore a fake smile, drifting along, yet his mind was spinning wildly—the so-called ’related to the shadow’ was just something he came up with on the spot, not ruling out that Su Shijun was indeed looking for him about the shadow, but the possibility was very low. Nevertheless, this excuse was the easiest to convince his companions.

As for other reasons, Zheng Qing thought hard, but couldn’t grasp anything—besides the shadow and Poseidon, he had almost no connection with Greenhill Mansion.

The shadow was probably fine; if anything happened to the shadow, the first to contact him would definitely not be Su Shijun, but the relevant department of the school.

As for Poseidon.

Zheng Qing lowered his eyelids, gazing at the Little Fox peeking about in his arms, feeling a bit worried.

Involving Poseidon, the issues multiply, like Poseidon’s identity, his education, and even his living expenses.

As for the living expenses of the Little Fox, Zheng Qing basically doesn’t need to worry, as the school would care for the cost student’s pets for free, and the Little Fox spends most of the week at Greenhill Mansion; Su Shijun never asked him for those fees.

Perhaps because the Little Fox grew older, expenses increased?

The young cost student looked down at the Little Fox in his arms, gently weighed it, indeed heavier than last year, and grown a bit larger. Besides, there’s the amulet tied around its neck, the white vest embroidered with talismans it wears, and the fragrant essential oil applied to it, all giving an impression of being quite expensive.

Thinking that he might need to pay these costs, the Warlock momentarily panicked, instinctively starting to count the few pitiful jade coins in his pocket.

Or maybe the Little Fox caused some big trouble requiring the ’parents’ to step in? Like if it fought with some deeply-connected bunny on the Pedestrian Street, one with a Big Wizard in the family?

As soon as this thought crossed Zheng Qing’s mind, he shook his head vigorously, dismissing it. Though mischievous, the Little Fox was like Li Meng, not without a sense of what’s important. Besides, even if it caused some chaos, being a member of the Upper House in the Moon Council and a researcher at the First University, Su Daxu would have a hundred ways to settle things.

Moreover, if Poseidon did cause trouble, Su Shijun certainly wouldn’t let it freely wander around delivering messages like this.

This concern persisted until the end of the class meeting.

Zheng Qing didn’t take other companions to Greenhill Mansion, he just entrusted Xiao Xiao to help pack up the textbooks and homework from the library, then left alone with the Little Fox.

...

...

”Cousin, do you also want to follow along?”

Li Meng clung to Jiang Yu’s arm, standing at the classroom door, watching the Warlock’s faraway figure, murmured quietly: ”Don’t doubt it, Zheng Zha definitely cheated... If you’re embarrassed, how about I tail him for you? I’ve recently practiced the invisibility spell quite well, when playing hide-and-seek with Su Ya, she couldn’t find me even under her nose! Don’t worry, even if I get caught, I’ll say I was looking for Su Ya to play, and I will never betray you!”

The Little Witch gave her chest a confident pat.

Jiang Yu didn’t doubt her ability to do what she said, nor was she really suspicious that Zheng Qing was doing something unspeakable.

But thinking of the words she heard in Old Yao’s office from Su Shijun, and seeing the Little Fox held in Zheng Qing’s arms just now, for some reason, there was a vague sense of unease in the Witch’s heart.

”Have you previewed tomorrow’s lesson?” She frowned, rejecting Li Meng’s plan with a harsh tone: ”Are you familiar with the thirteen usages of ’Taboo’? Each day you’re just playing, playing, playing! You’re not a child anymore... Who promised to earnestly say they were a college student back then?”

”I’m helping you here.” the Little Witch sighed: ”You can’t keep this up, although I don’t mean you have to be overly accommodating... Hey hey, I didn’t mean anything else... I won’t say it, won’t say it!”

She tilted her head, carefully trying to protect her ear being pinched, begging softly while following her cousin’s grip, heading towards the library.

For some reason, at this moment she suddenly thought of Su Ya.

The Little Fox Lady’s ears were on top of the head; if she had ears like that, wouldn’t she not need to tilt her head and stand on tiptoe when pinched by her cousin?

Always tilting the head this way isn’t good for the neck.

...

...

Zheng Qing didn’t realize that his departure would cause a Little Witch to ponder the matter of fox ears and the neck.

When he arrived at courtyard number fifty-four in Beta Town West District with the Little Fox, filled with worries, the sky had already completely darkened, with the magical glow gradually rising to help the moonlight illuminate the block.

As a wizard world’s recognized ’high-class community’, the street lamps on both sides of the road in the west district would naturally not be crawling with ’unstable’ ’impure’ ’unattractive’ light sources like fireflies. The community owners had sufficient funds to carve nearly immutable ’Little Star’ on every lamp post.

One, two, three; rows of similarly sized, brightly colored light balls quietly suspended on either side of the street, making the street seem like daylight.

Su Ya was standing barefoot in the creek outside the Qingqiu Mansion Fence, bending over, searching for something in the water. Her wide robe and tail wrapped around her waist, revealing a white leg.

Poseidon chirped twice, joyfully greeting the Little Fox Lady.

The Little Fox Lady twitched her ears, not acknowledging the Little Fox.
