Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 445: Chapter 243: Stirring Things Up with the Imperial Sword of Authority (First Update)

Brooke’s parents suddenly looked up and saw a man in a traditional Chinese suit standing by the railing on the second floor.

He looked somewhat aged, but his posture was upright, and his graying buzz cut made him appear quite formidable.

This was none other than Mr. Spencer, whom Brooke’s mom had seen on TV before the New Year last year!

He was a wealthy man, ranking in the top ten of the national rich list!

Brooke’s mom immediately put on a warm smile, with a cheerful tone in her voice: ”Is that my son-in-law? Just a moment ago I was saying to Brooke, how could she get married to such a good son-in-law without saying a word? If she had told us earlier, would we have disagreed? We even prepared a dowry for her!”

Cameron Spencer: ”...”

Brooke Osborne wished she could find a hole in the ground to crawl into out of embarrassment.

Cameron Spencer was a few years older than Brooke’s mom, yet she addressed him as ”son-in-law” without the slightest awkwardness.

This left Cameron Spencer unable to maintain his usual demeanor.

He twitched the corner of his mouth and slowly descended the staircase.

By this time, Brooke’s mom had already taken out her phone, opened WeChat, and was calmly scrolling through several ”science popularization” articles she had forwarded in her Moments.

”Son-in-law, you don’t know, but young children on airplanes are exposed to radiation in the sky, which affects their development! Our little Winter is only a month old, are you really willing to let him be exposed to high-altitude radiation? And it’s not that I’m saying anything, but our Brooke’s Winter may be your last son, your only son, do you really want him to be exposed to high-altitude radiation, affecting his intelligence and physical health?”

”It doesn’t matter if you’re flying commercial or on a private jet... High-altitude radiation doesn’t care if you’re on a commercial flight or a private plane...”

”Besides, Capital City is not a difficult place to go to. When little Winter is a few years older, you and Brooke can take him to the zoo in Capital City to see pandas. How wonderful would that be!”

Brooke’s mom, being an elementary school teacher, had that instructive tone that even left Cameron Spencer unable to argue.

He was also puzzled and asked Brooke Osborne: ”...Is there really such a thing as high-altitude radiation?”

Brooke Osborne vaguely remembered and said: ”Why not ask our family doctor?”

This suggestion reminded Cameron Spencer, who immediately took out his phone and called his family doctor.

Although it was already late, no family doctor could ignore a call from Cameron Spencer.

The doctor was an expert in a certain field. When Cameron Spencer asked, he answered honestly: ”There is indeed such a thing as high-altitude radiation, but there is no scientific conclusion on its effect on humans. However, being cautious with young children is always good. Besides high-altitude radiation, airport security checks don’t excuse infants either.”

”These radiation levels are very low and do not affect the health of a normal human body, but for infants, it’s uncertain. It’s not certain there will be a negative impact, but it’s always best to avoid if possible.”

These words from the expert finally made Cameron Spencer give up on the idea.

After pondering for a moment, he nodded and said: ”Since that’s the case, I did not consider things thoroughly. Fortunately, your parents are here, so let’s spend the New Year together here.”

Cameron Spencer paused and said: ”So this year, everyone can spend the New Year together, and get to know each other.”

Brooke Osborne understood that this meant Cameron Spencer intended to formally introduce her to his other two concubines.

Thinking about the agreement they had before their marriage, Brooke Osborne felt anxious, not knowing when Cameron Spencer would divorce her.

However, due to the matter of his son, Cameron Spencer had changed his mind and did not want to divorce Brooke Osborne anymore.

After all, it’s his only son, and if Brooke Osborne didn’t have the marriage certificate as an amulet, her son would face great troubles in the future.

Brooke Osborne was still unaware.

Cameron Spencer didn’t want her to know either.

His strategy towards women was always ”hunger marketing,” never fully satisfying them, or else they would have more unrealistic ideas.

Looking at Brooke Osborne’s dazed expression, Cameron Spencer smiled slightly, held her hand, and said: ”Don’t worry, I’m here; you’re my wife, and that’s enough.”

Brooke’s mom and dad both breathed a sigh of relief.

The two exchanged glances, saw the smiles on each other’s faces, and felt completely at ease in their hearts.

Cameron Spencer said to Brooke Osborne: ”The house here is yours; arrange for your parents’ accommodation as you see fit.”

Then he said to Brooke’s mom and dad: ”Don’t be reserved, you’re all family now, treat this place as your own home.”

And he frankly said: ”Brooke is a good girl, just too kind and timid. The situation in my home, I guess everyone in the country knows it, so I won’t say much. In any case, if you can protect Brooke and protect Winter, you’re protecting me, and I can only be grateful to you.”
