Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 404: Chapter 217: If She Thinks It’s Worth It, Then It Is

”Ugh! I just wanted the ending to be a little more tragic, not this earth-shattering catastrophe!!!” Lawrence Winters’ tears started streaming down, ”I can’t take it, knowing he did so much for her, and in the end, she doesn’t even remember him... Who’s this author? I want to teach them a lesson!”

Edward Foster glanced at the original author’s name written in the script outline and said, ”It seems to be someone named Elijah Charles, a little-known writer from the old days.”

”...Elijah Charles, is it? I’ll remember that.” Lawrence Winters nodded, ”We bought the rights, right?”

Edward Foster nodded, ”Of course we did, otherwise how could we adapt the script?”

”As long as we have the rights.” Lawrence Winters grinned menacingly, tears still glistening on his face, ”I’m going to adapt this book until even its mother wouldn’t recognize it! After all, it’s not required for the script to be exactly like the original, right?”

Edward Foster hesitated for a moment, then slowly nodded, ”...It can be changed, but that’s called a major alteration, and the book fans will tear it apart...”

”Didn’t you say Elijah Charles was just a little-known writer from the old days? Where would the book fans come from!” Lawrence Winters laughed disdainfully, ”Don’t worry, if book fans come to fight, even better, take the opportunity to create some buzz, it would be great if it gets attention before even being filmed!”

She took out a tissue, wiped her tears, and suggested, ”Why don’t we go with this one!”

Edward Foster chuckled, then pulled out the male lead’s concept art that the content department’s director had overdelivered as an additional task, ”You should take a look at their sketch of the male lead before deciding.”

Lawrence Winters leaned over to Edward Foster’s hand to take a look and was immediately captivated by the sketch of the fantasy drama male lead.

The concept art showed a towering mountain, covered in white snow, and a man with an air of immortality stood at the peak of the mountains, dressed in a black cloak, looking sideways at a young girl with twin-bun hair beside him.

His eyes were tender and gentle.

Looking at the concept art, Lawrence Winters’ mind conjured up the image of Kenneth Osborne.

Because such an expression was something she had seen on his face many times...

Edward Foster saw Lawrence staring unblinkingly at the concept art of the fantasy male lead and smiled, ”What do you think? Hard to decide, right? I can assure you, once this costume is revealed, the series will already be half-successful.”

Lawrence Winters murmured, ”...Yeah, look at that gaze...”

”That gaze is painted very realistically and movingly.” Edward Foster said as objectively as possible, with no emotional bias, very professionally, ”If Lucas can portray seventy percent of that gaze, then he’d be unmatched as the leading romantic male lead in period fantasy dramas. That gaze comes only from an overwhelming love for her.”

Lawrence Winters: ”...”

”...That’s a bit exaggerated, isn’t it?” She frowned, holding the concept art up to the light for a closer look.

The artist really had skills, whatever paint was used, when held up to the light, the male lead’s eyes on the drawing seemed lifelike, as if they were moving.

Edward Foster said very seriously, ”Not exaggerated at all. I’m a man, I know what a man’s gaze looks like when he truly loves a woman.”

Lawrence Winters had been deeply absorbed, but Edward’s words made her burst out laughing.

The previously emotional atmosphere was completely gone.

She laughed, ”Alright, alright, you’re the best, little Edward. How many women have you looked at like this?”

”Not a single one!” Edward Foster blurted out but then glanced at Lawrence Winters and corrected himself, ”In the past, not a single one, but now, there seems to be one.”

”Congratulations, congratulations! Little Edward, it’s priceless for a prodigal son to turn over a new leaf, wish you an early wedding and a son soon!” Lawrence Winters laughed as she made a hand gesture of congratulations, then repeatedly looked at the script outline and the male lead’s concept art, truly finding it hard to choose.

In terms of costume, without a doubt, the period fantasy style had the advantage, just like Edward said, once the costumes were revealed, the drama would already be halfway to fame.

But when it came to the storyline, she still preferred the second post-apocalyptic theme.

But the post-apocalyptic theme didn’t have the advantage in terms of costume.

They certainly couldn’t give the male lead a spotless handsome look when, in the post-apocalyptic scenario, most people are struggling to fill their stomachs and clothe themselves.

That would definitely be criticized to death; it would flop before even being filmed.

Edward Foster ignored Lawrence’s perfunctory congratulations, just looked at her conflicted expression, and laughed, ”You understand my feelings now, right?”

Lawrence Winters sighed, ”It is indeed a tough choice. Also, this post-apocalyptic theme seems easy to shoot, but the budget is surely much higher than that of period fantasies.”

”Definitely.” Edward Foster agreed with her, ”Period fantasies are mostly shot using blue screens now, with post-production effects taking care of the rest. Our country’s effects have become quite impressive now, and they aren’t too expensive, as long as it’s beautiful.”

”But the post-apocalyptic theme is different. For realistic effects, just blue screens won’t do, you need a lot of actual sets to create that end-of-the-world feel.”

Lawrence Winters understood his point and said with a headache, ”So what do we do? Each has its pros and cons, should we draw lots?”

”...There’s no rush. We can let them refine the scripts more and decide after a complete script is ready.” Edward Foster said very pragmatically, ”Adapting the script isn’t too costly; just let the content department handle it directly.”

”Alright, then let’s work on the script first.” Lawrence Winters nodded, quickly putting aside the earlier peculiar feeling.

Just as NewHuman Corporation was preparing the new script, Arthur Johnson also learned from the content department director that the company was custom-writing a TV drama script for Lucas Harlow.

This news was the final straw that broke an already tense Arthur Johnson.

He went home and dialed Summer Spencer’s number.
