Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 425: Chapter 229: Scrambling for Advantage (First Update)

With such an expression, even Christopher Mason’s subordinates couldn’t tell if what he was saying was true or false, let alone little Asui, who was just a three-year-old child...

He looked up, thought for a moment, and said, ”If I see someone who looks just like the person in the photo, I’ll first get a strand of their hair for a DNA test. That way, I’ll know if he’s my uncle.”

Christopher Mason: ”...”

Patrick chuckled and waved at Asui, saying, ”Don’t be afraid, Asui. I assure you that the person in the photo is indeed your uncle.”

Asui cheered up, made a funny face at Christopher Mason, and said, ”I trust Uncle Patrick! If Uncle Patrick says it’s true, then it must be true!”

Before Christopher Mason could deceive him any further, he had decisively turned around and left, pulling along the little corgi.

Anyway, it was a large compound outside, and outsiders couldn’t get in, so there was no fear of losing him.

Besides, Christopher Mason had assigned people to secretly protect Asui, so none of this was a problem.

After Asui went out, Patrick stopped smiling and spoke seriously, ”Have you found out who made a move against Kenneth Osborne?”

”... You care about him that much?” Christopher Mason tilted his head. ”I don’t plan to get involved in this matter. I’ll let Daxiong and Xiaozhe handle it themselves.”

Patrick frowned, ”I finally found a successor. Don’t let anything happen to him.”

Lydia Graham curiously asked, ”Mr. Patrick, why are you so confident in Kenneth Osborne? I think we should observe for a while longer, right?”

Patrick shook a finger, ”No need. Doing business, like arts and sports, also requires talent. A good businessman may not have a lot of education, but they must have talent and go through various experiences.”

”Kenneth Osborne happens to have this talent. Look at his recent moves—from rejecting the Spencer Group’s solicitation to smartly making ten billion from the Spencer Group himself. These operations were all achieved by him, and within just a few months.”

”An ordinary person might not achieve such success even after studying for a hundred years, because it requires an incredibly keen grasp of opportunities, as well as boldness, care, and courage—none of which can be lacking.”

Patrick clearly had great expectations for Kenneth Osborne.

Christopher Mason shook his head with a smile, ”I’m actually more impressed with his achievements in artificial intelligence technology. I’ve shown a few of his patents to Professor Lothrop, and he also said they’re quite good, indicating potential.”

Patrick’s eyebrows knotted immediately, and he said, ”Ian is also optimistic about him? That’s not right. Although Kenneth Osborne is okay in artificial intelligence, he is not a tech genius. When did Ian’s standards drop this low?”

Lydia Graham: ”...”

She smirked and said, ”Mr. Patrick, aren’t you being unreasonable? To make Kenneth Osborne your successor, you don’t hesitate to disparage my father’s judgment...”

Patrick laughed innocently, ”I didn’t. I was just complimenting him for having high standards.”

Lydia Graham wanted to say something more, but Christopher Mason silently glanced at her.

She immediately understood, flashed a brilliant smile, and held her tongue.

Only then did Christopher Mason speak, ”It’s too early to discuss this now. Our plan is a bit rushed. It’s better to let him cool off for a while and develop naturally.”

”I agree with this,” Patrick nodded, ”I also need more time to evaluate Kenneth Osborne. I hope I haven’t misjudged.”

After they discussed, Christopher Mason called Francis Johnson and clarified their decision.

...

A few days later, while recovering at home, Kenneth Osborne received a call from Blake Leaf.

Kenneth Osborne was taking a nap, but Blake Leaf’s call kept ringing urgently like an alarm, waking him up.

Kenneth Osborne steadied himself, picked up his phone, and checked.

Seeing it was Blake Leaf’s call, he immediately swiped to answer and asked, ”Blake, what’s up?”

Blake Leaf urgently said, ”Mr. Osborne, did you see?! SSA Private Equity Fund just tweeted that they’ve invested ten billion in the new company Long Yin Intelligence!—Twitter is going wild!”

Because Francis Johnson had briefed Kenneth Osborne beforehand, he wasn’t particularly surprised and just said calmly, ”SSA Private Equity is specialized in investments. Isn’t it normal for them to invest in other companies?”

”It’s not normal! Not at all!” Blake Leaf anxiously said, ”Spring told me that in the investment industry, if an investment in one company in the same sector is ten times more than another, it largely indicates that the company with the smaller investment has already failed and won’t expect to recover the investment.”

Kenneth Osborne chuckled, but keenly noticed that Blake Leaf mentioned a name. He calmly asked, ”...Who is Spring?”

”She’s the eldest daughter of the Spencer Family and used to be the CFO of the Spencer Group,” Blake Leaf laughed, ”But she resigned from the Spencer Group and is now in Capital City, saying she plans to look for business opportunities to invest in.”

After that, Blake Leaf lowered his voice and said, ”Mr. Osborne, should I talk to Spring and have her invest in our company too? After all, she’s an investor, and I also know that our company has a lot of potential. Her investment would definitely be profitable!”

Kenneth Osborne immediately declined, ”There’s no need. I currently have no plans to raise funds. I’m not short of money.”

Blake Leaf chuckled, ”Only Mr. Osborne is confident enough to say that. Anyone else would treat Spring like a valued guest. Who would refuse more money?”

Kenneth Osborne just grunted and asked indifferently, ”Anything else?”

Blake Leaf hesitated, feeling that Kenneth Osborne’s attitude was a bit distant, which made him uncomfortable. He quickly said, ”No, I just wanted to remind Mr. Osborne that I’m on the job now.”

Kenneth Osborne grunted again.

After hanging up, Kenneth Osborne pondered for a moment, walked over to his desk, sat down, and turned on his computer. He logged into the company’s ERP system and reduced Blake Leaf’s permissions to the same level as a regular employee.

This reduction wouldn’t affect Blake Leaf’s primary responsibilities, but if he wanted to look at other things in the ERP system, it would be impossible.

In a startup like Kenneth Osborne’s, the ERP system was primarily used for financial management.
