Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 431: Chapter 234: You Deserve It (First Update)

When Nick Zeller saw the names he needed to write, he was instantly taken aback.

”Uncle Kenneth Osborne, Aunt Lawrence Winters? Tch, what’s going on?! So it was Kenneth who placed the order?!”

Nick Zeller held his phone, wishing he could dash into Kenneth Osborne’s room to confront him.

But recalling the awkwardness of that day, he withheld himself.

To make matters worse, his precious niece might also be in Kenneth Osborne’s room.

The two of them seemed to be slowly getting into a heated romance, and Nick Zeller couldn’t quite grasp how serious it was.

With that thought, he paced to the old Daoist’s room, closed the door, and softly asked, ”Master, it looks like Nora is really dating Kenneth...”

The old Daoist suddenly opened his eyes, his wrinkled face gleaming with youthful brightness in his eyes.

”Are you sure?”

Nick Zeller nodded, awkwardly chuckling, ”Those two are getting more lovey-dovey by the day. I saw them with my own eyes that day...”

He gestured with his hand as if to indicate kissing.

The old Daoist snorted, the light in his eyes dimming instantly, ”Tch, just a kiss, I thought it was something big.”

”But Nora’s first thing after coming home every day now is to see Kenneth, staying in his room for a long time, and only returning to her own room just before bedtime,” Nick Zeller said anxiously. ”And I know she also calls him once every morning and once every afternoon while at work; I’ve never seen her so focused on anyone or anything!”

”Being focused is good. Who hasn’t been through the same?” the old Daoist mused, ”Remember back in the day you also...”

”Master!” Nick Zeller hastily waved, as if trying to cover his master’s mouth. ”That was ages ago... please, no more talk about it...”

The old Daoist reconsidered and found it inappropriate, so he didn’t bring it up again, only saying, ”Don’t make a fuss about Nora. I’m keeping an eye on things here. What are you worried about? Would I be living in this stifling big house if it weren’t for her?”

Nick Zeller’s face immediately stretched, ”Master, what do you mean by that? You’re still complaining about this large flat? It’s such a huge place, with a large open balcony outside, and a fully enclosed balcony here, enough to accommodate over thirty people comfortably!”

”...Is it bigger than my mountain courtyard?” the old Daoist responded with just one sentence, silencing Nick Zeller.

The courtyard at the old Daoist’s mountain place was three times the size of this flat, so of course, there was no comparison.

”Master, just bear it for a while longer. How about we go spend New Year in your mountain place during the holiday?” Nick Zeller suggested with a smile.

The old Daoist lazily waved it off, ”No need, I want to spend this New Year out here. After years of not coming down the mountain, this year I want to enjoy it properly.”

As they chatted, Nick Zeller pulled out his phone again, showing it to the old Daoist, laughing, ”This is the order Kenneth just placed, look at this, how generous! And he even included Lawrence!”

The old Daoist glanced at it, surprised, ”Uncle? Kenneth became an uncle? Is it his sister’s or his brother’s child?”

Nick Zeller realized then, slapping his forehead, ”Oh man! I didn’t even think of that! It must be Kenneth’s sister, Brooke Osborne, who had the baby!”

”Wow, that’s fast! It hasn’t even been a year, and the baby’s already a month old.” Nick Zeller joked with a laugh, adding, ”Since it’s our old neighbor’s child, I’ll send a gift too.”

He coaxed the old Daoist into pulling out a small peach wood sword, personally adding a red tassel to it, tying a special knot, then binding a set of Five Emperors Coins.

Then he walked to Kenneth Osborne’s door and knocked.

Kenneth Osborne came over and opened the door, and seeing it was Nick Zeller, he smiled, ”Uncle Nick.”

Stepping aside to let him in.

Nick Zeller said, ”I saw your order. Is it a full-month gift for your sister’s child?”

”Yes.” Kenneth Osborne knew that by leaving his and Lawrence Winters’ names on the card, Nick Zeller would definitely see it, so there was no point in hiding it.

Nick Zeller smilingly produced the peach wood sword, ”Since it’s for Brooke’s child, I’ll add a gift as well, from both your Aunt Lawrence and me. We’re old neighbors, no need to be formal.”

Kenneth Osborne didn’t stand on ceremony either, smiling, ”Thank you, Uncle Nick.”

Lawrence Winters came over, seeing the set of Five Emperors Coins on the small peach wood sword, exclaimed, ”Uncle! This string of Five Emperors Coins isn’t cheap at all!”

”It’s not cheap, but no big deal. Hang this peach wood sword beside the child’s bed, it’ll protect them from harm, and they won’t cry at night!” Nick Zeller proudly patted his chest.

”Thank you.” Kenneth Osborne accepted it, looked over, and then returned it to Nick Zeller, ”Let’s send them together.”

Lawrence Winters peeked at the unique knot on the peach wood sword, curiously asking, ”Uncle, how did you tie this knot? It’s beautiful, like a sunflower.”

”It’s your uncle’s exclusive knot-tying technique! Taught by my mom back in the day...” he boasted.

Lawrence Winters laughed, ”Oh, Grandma! That’s amazing! You’ll have to teach me this sometime, Uncle!”

”No problem at all.” Nick Zeller said with a grin, showing no change in expression, though inwardly he thought, that was close.

He wrapped everything up nicely, then called for express delivery, sending it to Brooke Osborne overnight.

Brooke Osborne received this set of gifts from Capital City the very next day.

She opened the package, feeling delighted with the cute and exquisite gifts inside, immediately taking the silver necklace to put on her son.

The jade token and bracelet weren’t worn right away and were put away for the time being.

Lastly, there was the small peach wood sword which she picked up and toyed with, unable to let go.

When Cameron Spencer came in, he caught sight of Brooke Osborne twirling the peach wood sword, the bright red tassel with that unique knot swinging past his eyes.

He squinted immediately, quietly approaching.
