Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 428: Chapter 232: No Pushovers (First Update)

Kenneth Osborne didn’t want to say too many details, he just said, ”It’s okay now. Why don’t you give me your address, and I’ll try to send the gift to you as soon as possible.”

”No hurry, no hurry.” Cameron Spencer said with a cheerful laugh, planning to ask Brooke Osborne to call Kenneth after getting back.

Returning to his mansion, Cameron asked Brooke, ”Didn’t you tell your brother that we’re already married?”

Brooke lowered her head, holding the tiny baby, gently stroking his soft head, and shook her head.

She felt embarrassed to say it and never knew how to start the conversation.

Seeing her embarrassed look, Cameron didn’t press her further, smiling as he said, ”I’ve already told him, and he said he’d send a gift for the baby.”

Brooke looked up and hurriedly said, ”Oh? Is he not coming?”

A bit disappointed.

Cameron shook his head, laughing as he said, ”Why don’t you give him a call, see if he’s coming?”

Brooke hadn’t spoken to Kenneth for a long time, and she really missed him.

In the past, she felt embarrassed and didn’t know how to bring up the matter with Kenneth.

Now that her child was born and so much time had passed, it should be fine by now...

Brooke thought to herself, hesitated for a moment, then nodded, ”I’ll give it a try.”

”Great, call him if you have time. You were busy taking care of the baby last night, do you want to take a rest? Let the nanny, who’s specially hired for taking care of the baby, handle him.” Cameron said kindly, reaching out to hold the baby.

Brooke carefully placed the baby into Cameron’s arms, ”Be careful, his neck is still very soft, you have to support his neck.”

Brooke demonstrated to Cameron how to hold a small baby.

Cameron looked deeply at his youngest son, thinking, how many years has it been since he held a child?

He should have been at the age to hold grandchildren, yet now he was holding a son.

Cameron lowered his head sentimentally and kissed the baby’s tender cheek.

The baby made a soft humming sound, waving his little fists on either side of his head, then fell asleep again.

Cameron looked at this son with a slight sense of regret.

He remembered having seen Kenneth before, that night on the outskirts of River City, the first time he saw Kenneth and Brooke, and had once been shocked by Kenneth’s appearance.

After being with Brooke, he had secretly hoped that the son she gave him would also grow up to look like Kenneth.

What a pity, such a pity...

After Cameron took the child away, Brooke tidied herself up, took her long-unused phone, and sat down on the sofa in the bedroom.

She used to have the best relationship with Kenneth, but after a few months of not talking, she suddenly didn’t know what to say.

Leaning against the sofa, she was lost in thought for a while before opening the contact list and clicking on Kenneth’s number.

Kenneth answered the phone remarkably quickly this time.

In fact, even if Brooke hadn’t called Kenneth, he would have called her.

He had her number and they were in contact a few months ago.

Kenneth thought back to a few months ago when Brooke had just gone to City Z, and the siblings would still talk once a week.

When did Brooke stop calling him?

Kenneth counted the time, it seemed to be about three months ago.

So does this mean that months after being with Cameron, she never mentioned it during their calls.

Kenneth felt he somewhat understood Brooke’s feelings.

Therefore, when he answered Brooke’s call, he didn’t sternly question her, he just said calmly, ”Sis, congratulations, do you have a photo of the baby? Send one for me to see.”

Brooke had been anxious, worried that Kenneth would be upset, uninterested in her, or even distance himself from her for good.

Seeing that his tone remained unchanged, Brooke’s eyes turned red, and she choked up as she said, ”Kenneth... you... you forgive your sister?”

Kenneth smiled gently and said, ”Sis, this is your life, the days you want to live. You don’t have to explain yourself to anyone, not even me. I only hope that you’ll be happy in your future and forget about the bad things from before. I will always support you.”

Brooke was moved to tears by Kenneth’s words finally.

She quickly took a tissue to wipe her tears and said, ”I knew, I knew you would understand.”

Then she sighed again and said, ”I still don’t know how to tell mom and dad.”

Kenneth frowned slightly, ”Haven’t you told mom and dad yet?”

”No.” Brooke shook her head honestly.

”Haven’t mom and dad called you either?” Kenneth found it somewhat unbelievable.

Brooke held back the tears and said, ”No...”

Since she resigned and left home after the New Year, it had been almost a year, and her parents hadn’t called her once.

And she, disheartened, hadn’t actively called them either, only occasionally keeping in touch with Kenneth.

Kenneth frowned more tightly, and after a while, comforted Brooke, ”Sis, then let me tell mom and dad. Do you really not want to invite them to your son’s two-month-old banquet?”

”...They wouldn’t want to come...” Brooke said dejectedly, ”I’ve embarrassed them, time and again, they wouldn’t want to see me.”

Kenneth thought, if they knew you married Cameron Spencer, who’s ranked tenth on the national rich list, how could they bear not to see you?

Kenneth knew his parents all too well, even better than Brooke did.

He smiled and said, ”It’s fine, the question is whether you really want to invite them. If you don’t want to, I won’t say anything.”

Brooke hesitated, ”Do you really think they wouldn’t... think I’ve disgraced them?”

”That depends on whether you’ve married Mr. Spencer.” Kenneth took his time responding, also probing Brooke, ”If you’re officially married, then mom and dad can only be happy for you...”

Brooke hurriedly nodded and said, ”Married, really married, I can send you a picture of the marriage certificate.”

”That’s good.” Kenneth reminded her in a low voice, ”Did you register at the civil affairs bureau? Remember to make sure the marriage certificate is genuine.”

”Registered, actually we registered, but didn’t have a wedding.” Brooke felt a little embarrassed, ”Because I was already pregnant then, and Mr. Spencer was busy and didn’t want people to notice I was pregnant.”

Kenneth understood immediately.

He suddenly thought of his sister’s newborn son being Cameron Spencer’s only son now.

Because Cameron’s eldest son had just passed away recently.

This matter even made the news, which Kenneth remembered clearly.

He also understood Cameron’s intentions.

Even though the man was so much older than Brooke, he still took good care of her.

At least, in such a complex Spencer Family environment, not only did he marry her, but he also let her successfully give birth to a son.

Knowing there were only two daughters now in the Spencer Family, but Kenneth felt neither of them were easy to deal with.

After thinking it over, he said, ”Sis, still let mom and dad know. Their attending your son’s two-month banquet could boost your support.”

He understood his mother’s personality; if she learned Brooke married so well and had a son, she would certainly cherish Brooke like a goddess.
